@edgarblythe,
I still like the plain old yellow kind of mustard, Texas. hmmm, I always thought you spread it; not cut it. Razz

That's what I always intended for WA2K; different genres of music.

Ray Price has the kind of voice that is powerful and memorable. Don't know City Lights, but he did a great job with it, edgar

Bet you remember this one, buddy.

@edgarblythe,
Yep, edgar. I Believe in Magic. I like that one by The Lovin Spoonful.

The Happy Wanderer is another of those songs that I know and don't know why I know it.

How about another one from this birthday girl. She is fabulous.

edgar, once again we appreciate your comments on the music mix that we play here on WA2K radio.

Wow! Never heard Babs do that one. My Heart Belongs to Me is great. Thanks.

Welcome back George. Did you know that you are one of the three Georges on the dam in China? Razz

Never heard The Old Crow Medicine show, buddy. You sent me to the archives again.

Old Crow Medicine Show is an old-time string band based in Nashville, Tennessee. Their music has been called bluegrass, Americana, and alt-country, in addition to old-time. Along with original songs, the band performs many pre-World War II blues and folk songs. They have been recording since 1998.

Loved that song Caroline, and here's one to match.

It's been noted that his song was about Caroline Kennedy.

Old Crow Medicine Show is great. I think Sweet Caroline is my favorite by Neil Diamond.
John Denver is going to Carolina, but just in his mind

@edgarblythe,
Wow! That was a great version of In My Mind I'm Going to Carolina. Had no idea that Tom Jones and John Denver did that one, Texas. You always give us feedback to what we play here.

Time for me to say goodnight, and although Dino does a great job with this one, it's fantastic by fellow as well.

In English.

Sometimes the world is a valley of heartaches and tears,
And in the hustle and bustle, no sunshine appears,
But you and I have our love always there to remind us
There is a way we can leave all the shadows behind us.

Volare, oh, oh!
Cantare, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Let's fly way up in the clouds
Away from the maddening crowds
We can sing in the glow of a star that I know of
Where lovers enjoy peace of mind
Let us leave the confusion and all disillusion behind
Just like birds of a feather, a rainbow together we'll find

Volare, oh, oh!
Cantare, oh, oh, oh, oh!
No wonder my happy heart sings
Your love has given me wings
Your love has given me wings
Your love has given me wings

So nice to have different countries with us today.

Goodnight world,

From Letty with love

That's the original hit record of Volare, letty. My favorite version. My goodnight song is by the great Jim Croce

@edgarblythe,
Hope it's going to be a good morning here in Florida, WA2K folks.

edgar, thanks for that info on Volare. Loved your goodnight song. Operator by Jim Croce is fantastic. Never hear or see him that I don't think of Santa Tomas e Lucas. So many fine performers have died too early.<sigh>

Two songs for the early morning here:

First one to match our edgar's by Jim.

Now, a tribute to a birthday girl, but first a bit of info on her.

Winona Laura Horowitz (born October 29, 1971), better known under her professional name Winona Ryder, is an American actress. She made her film debut in the 1986 film Lucas. Ryder's first significant role came in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice (1988) as a goth teenager, which won her critical and commercial recognition. After making various appearances in film and television, Ryder continued her career with the cult film Heathers (1989), a controversial satire of teenage suicide and high school life, which drew Ryder further critical and commercial attention.

After playing diverse roles in numerous well-received films, Ryder won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award nomination in the same category for her role in The Age of Innocence in 1993, as well as another Academy Award nomination for Little Women the following year for Best Actress. In 2000, Ryder received a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California.

Ryder's personal life has been widely reported by the media. Her relationship with actor Johnny Depp in the early 1990s was highly publicized and received much scrutiny by the media and tabloid press. A much talked about 2001 shoplifting incident led to a four-year hiatus from acting. She has also revealed her personal struggle with anxiety and depression, briefly checking into a clinic. In 2006, Ryder returned to the screen, and some media outlets called her performance "a remarkable comeback" to acting.

Good morning. The drought has my yard so dry, my shoes make crackling sounds whenever I walk in the yard. That's mostly due to the needles off the pines and bald cypress. I am not much of a raker.

I don't recall that Jim Croce song, letty. Thanks for introducing me to it. Wynona Ryder is a very good actress. Happy birthday.

Another afternoon session on our radio and another October surprise.

Jude Law is trending today, and I just found our that he did a remake of Alfie.

Old Habits Die Hard. The title of the video gives me a surprise because I used to say that to myself when I awakened at three o'clock in the morning and listened to music.

Had no idea he was a Londoner, so we'll dedicate this to our British friends

I recently bought Alphie, the original, from Walmart. I had a feeling when it cost only four dollars. The only four dollar DVD I ever saw in there. I couldn't make it through it.
The previous youtube you put up there would not open, letty.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Steam, edgar. Sorry you couldn't get Jude to do his thing. I sang that song Alfie so long ago. Guess we can "kiss him goodbye"

what's it all about, Alfie,
Is it just for the moment we live,

What's it all about, when you sort it out, Alfie
Are we meant to give more than we give, etc.

Speaking of steam, I have my pink pajamas on so let's hear another kind of steam.

From The Pajama Game.

We used to have radiators that provided heat and moisture. I'm beginning to think coal may be the way to go.
