@edgarblythe,
Wow! had no idea that Bobby did Nature Boy. I liked it, edgar. Glad that you enjoyed Leon and Glen.

Time for me to say goodnight, and here is one of my favorite sleepy time songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od8eLSnjQBs&feature=related

And the lyrics as well, y'all.

Pale moon shining on the fields below
Folks are crooning songs soft and low
Needn't tell me so because I know
It's sleepy time down south

Soft winds blowing through the pinewood trees
Folks down there like a life of ease
When old mammy falls upon her knees
It's sleepy time down south

Steamboats on the river a coming or a going
Splashing the night away
Hear those banjos ringing, the people are singing
They dance til the break of day, hey

Dear old southland with his dreamy songs
Takes me back there where I belong
How I'd love to be in my mammy's arms
When it's sleepy time way down south

Goodnight to everyone, everywhere.

From Letty with love and a memory

@Francis,

Doris Day (Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhoff) was a helluva singer, that fact being somewhat overshadowed by her later career as a fine comedy actress and professional virgin.

She could certainly bring something extra to a song. I think her recording of Move Over, Darling" shows today's sultry chanteuses a thing or two about sex appeal.

Moon River? This is my favourite version of that song, a fond memory from my youth.

Good morning WA2K, folks.

edgar, loved your goodnight song by Johnny. His tribute to Audrey was great. Thanks again for the comment concerning Sleepy Time Down South.

Francis, Doris Day's I'll Never Stop loving you was a good one, but I must confess I never cared for her. She was good, however, to stand behind Rock Hudson in his final days.

Hey, Brit (the cockney one) Razz

Loved Something Happened by Phil Collins. He's a fantastic performer.

Hmmmm. This must be Moon River Day on WA2K radio.

Actually, I am more fascinated by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini than the movie which I never saw.

Funny, y'all, Moon River ain't exactly Frenchman's Creek.

Welcome back, McTag. Great version by Danny Williams. Thanks for the introduction.

Here's my morning song by a great violin virtuoso whose birthday is today.

Oops, Texas. I really don't know the man, but I am sorry about his death.

Today is Dylan Thomas' birthday. Here is one by the great poet.

Dylan Thomas was good with words and form, but I have to really work to understand most of his poems.

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, Texas. Loved James Phelps' The Look on Your Face. Thanks for the introduction.

I suppose that Dylan's best know poem is this one.

DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I'm a bit odd, but I don't think that has to do with dying.

Today is Ruby Dee's birthday, so here is a tribute to her and Ossie.

I recognized some of the songs played in the background:

What's new; Sentimental Journey; Mona Lisa

@edgarblythe,
Spanish Lace, edgar? Methinks you didn't mean to play that shepherd whose is swingin' again. Razz

I do believe that Bob took his stage name from Dylan Thomas and if memory serves me correctly, Jimmy Carter wanted to have him buried in Westminster Abbey, but I'm not certain.

Here is the "jester" all tangled up in blue.
