@Letty,
Quote:
Hmmm. Wonder who did the original When You Wish Upon a Star? That version by Cliff Edwards was great.

"When You Wish upon a Star",written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington was introduced in the 1940 Walt Disney movie Pinocchio, where it is sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jiminy Cricket, over the opening credits and again in the final scene of the film. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year.

Another of my Disney faves....

Good morning to all you radio buffs. Thanks, mooseman for the Grand Illusion by Styx.

Hey, Brit. I was teasing you. I know all those Disney songs.

edgar, loved your goodnight song, Bad to the Bone, and thanks again for those dates in history.

Hope I didn't miss anyone, but my daughter is leaving today, and I'm a bit blue. (reminds me of The Blue Tango by Leroy Anderson)

Today is Rosalind Russell's birthday, so here is a tribute to her, y'all.

I enjoy Rosalind Russel and Lady and the Tramp is at the top of my list of cartoon favorites. Peggy Lee had as much to do with the magic in it as anyone else involved with the project. She spent many years at war with Disney to get what she considered her just pay for it.

Got some Clyde McPhatter this afternoon.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I didn't know that about Peggy Lee and Disney. Yep, she was great in The Lady and the Tramp.

You sent me to the archives again, Texas. Without Love I Have Nothing at All by Clyde McPhatter was great and so true.

In 1968, McPhatter spent some time living in England where he was still highly revered, backed by UK band "ICE".

McPhatter returned to America in 1970, making a few appearances in Rock 'N Roll revival tours. Hopes for a major comeback with a Decca album were crushed on June 13, 1972; Clyde McPhatter died in his sleep at the age of 39 from complications of heart, liver, and kidney disease, brought on by alcohol abuse; that abuse was fueled by a failed career and resentment he felt towards the fans he thought deserted him. In a 1971 interview with journalist Marcia Vance, McPhatter told Vance "I have no fans." He was buried at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.

Well, on a more upbeat note, folks, Ricky Martin seems to be trending today, so let's hear one by him.

Oops, missed our Gus. Welcome back, buddy. People have been asking about you. Let's see; Wiley Coyote and The Road Runner. Some kids were upset that that the coyote never caught the road runner. Their teacher wisely observed that should he do so, did they know what he would do?

How did Letty insert a cartoon figure of the Road Runner in the middle of a post? I was momentarily taken aback.

@edgarblythe,
I certainly did NOT know that Freddy did that one, edgar. Seems to me that Doris Day sang Secret Love, however. That was a surprise.

Well, y'all, today is Roger Ball's birthday, and here's a little info on the man.

Roger Ball (born 4 June 1944, Broughty Ferry, Scotland) is a Scottish saxophonist, keyboardist, songwriter and arranger.

Ball attended the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee from 1962, studying architecture. While there he met Malcolm “Molly” Duncan and Alan Gorrie. The three of them relocated to London separately, but joined forces again in 1971 to form the nucleus of the Average White Band.

Let's listen and watch, shall we?
