@Letty,
People like Groucho appear to have been the agents for DeSoto's demise, according to something I read, years ago. It said that the advertising caused the public to perceive that the DeSoto was an old person's car, which nobody wants to be identified with.

@edgarblythe,
Really, edgar? Well, we don't want to talk about the Stanley Steamer, I guess.

Too bad that we don't have a counterpart to that one given the awful oil spill.

Fun Facts
# In 1906, a sleekly designed version of the Stanley Steamer broke the land speed record on the beaches of Daytona Beach, Florida, by reaching a cruising speed of 127 miles per hour. Later that year, the same crew came back to the same Florida beach in a failed attempt to break their previous record. Unofficially, the Steamer hit a speed of 197 mph, but the car became airborne after hitting a small bump and crashed, so the results were not official.

How about a Chevy Van, folks.

@edgarblythe,
Amazing, edgar. Bobby Darin wrote that and it was done by Gene and the Pearls. Never heard it before. Thanks, Texas.

Actually, I did that Pink Cadillac to honor the guy who was trying to keep in shape with "The Boss".

How are y'all feelin'?

Well, Michael Buble tells us how he is...

I was puzzled that you attributed Bobby's recording to Gene and the Pearls, so I did some research. It seems Gene and the Pearls is some sort of logo they put on their videos. They have Etta James and quite a few artists besides. I have had a record of Beachcomber by Bobby for many years. That's him at the piano.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, That song by Bette and Mick was fantastic. Thanks for the big smile, Texas. Beast of Burden was one that I didn't know.

Well, buddy, when I looked at the visual and saw the cover, I assumed it was some group that I didn't know. Great piano song by Bobby. Had no idea that it was he on the keys.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I just discovered that it was Clint Walker's birthday. He's still with us. Here is my nighty nite song by Clint, folks.

Thanks for Clint Walker. I've liked that guy ever since he did Cheyenne. He sang I Dream of Jeannie on that show.

Rockymoose, I never see nor hear of an albatross that I don't think of Coleridge.

"...sleep it is a gentle thing beloved from pole to pole; to Mary queen the praise be given, she sent the gentle sleep from heaven that slid into my soul..." Great song, buddy.

edgar, I just did a quick search on Johnny H. and found out that he was killed in a car crash. Loved your goodnight song, Texas.

Said goodnight with Clint and I shall say good morning with Clint. Today is Clint Eastwood's birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

Yeh, Clint Eastwood. First time I noticed him he was a very young Rowdy Yates on Rawhide. While I liked him, I was very surprised that he went on to film stardom. But he was savvy and he grew.
I like Fleetwood Mac, rock.

Well, I got to go to work this morning. As I am part time, it's the only way I can get paid for today. But, I don't have to stay any longer than it takes to accomplish a few rather uncomplicated tasks. I will let Mr. Cannonball send me on my way.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I had no idea that The Village People did that navy song. I had also forgotten that YOU were in the navy. We'll have to dedicate The Village People to Barry the Brit, 'cause I once sent YMCA to him.

Richard Tauber is fantastic, and I love that song, buddy. "Just a Song at Twilight" is what I thought the title was. Love the oldies, folks.

Well, today is Colin Farrell's birthday, and he's Irish through and through. Here is a song that seems to be perfect, y'all.

Also love Cannonball's Work Song.
