Good morning WA2K radio listeners and staff.
First, may I say that this station IS the longest running station because it's the ONLY station.
Thanks to all of you here, we have been able to stay on the air and keep in touch with the world through news; music; op. ed's, and so much more:
edgar, I was once again thinking of the harrowing life of musicians and how many have not been able to handle success, but The Big Bopper was one who possibly could have done so had circumstances been different.
McTag, I think I like the French pronunciation of chantilly much better than the 'merican one. <smile>
Bob, that information highway story is just too funny, right listeners? and dj's "with mallets toward none" is so fantastic.
Francis and Walter, 500 pages? WOW! We need to dedicate a song to this unusual occurence. If each page was a mile or a kilometer the song would have to be:
(Bobby Bare, Charlie Williams, Hedy West)
Tear drops fell on mama's note
When I read the things she wrote
She said, we miss you girl
We love you come on home
Well I didn't have to pack
I had it all right on my back
Now I'm five hundred miles away from home
Chorus:
Away from home, away from home
Cold and tired and all alone
Yes, I'm five hundred miles away from home
It's hard to tell the state I'm in
Where I'm going, where I've been
But there's a dream I've been following so long
If mama knew the things I've done
She'd forgive them everyone
But I'm still five hundred miles away from home
Repeat Chorus
Can't remember when I ate it's just thumb and walk and wait
And I'm still five hundred miles away from home
If my luck had been just right I'd be with them all tonight
But I'm still five hundred miles away from home
Repeat Chorus
Lord, I'm still five hundred miles away from home
Incidentally, folks. The merry month of May is approaching and with it an American tradition called Mother's Day.
Thank you all so much for keeping us on the air.
Now for a quick coffee break!
