Right edgar,

though he wasn't at Sun records that day, Roy Orbison was a big fan of Lewis

I only meant he learned his own version of it from Jerry Lee. In those days, Orbison had not yet transformed to become the Roy Orbison, Superstar, we all came to know.

I agreed and thought it was a sharp observation.

Another thing I'm observing is that you take many of my posts as criticism of your posts, which they're not.

I'm just sharing some of my musical knowledge, as you are. Believe me when I say that of all the music posters here, you've got the widest range of knowledge and I respect that immensely

I think it may be due to word choices, panz. That and the fact that so many online people argue every detail of everything for little to no reason. I once wrote, "Whatever," in response to Occam Bill and he asked me why I was being so rude. I answered that if I had said "Whatever" to him in person, he would not have taken offense. Online has a way of warping things for some of us, me included. Believe me, I prefer that we be close friends here and I will not make the same error again. Wink

@edgarblythe,
The only time I can remember quibbling with you was on your choice of versions of Orange Blossom Special and you let me have it Very Happy ..I won't make that mistake again...
however, I have to say, I hate the term "Whatever" as I heard it constantly from a teenager I know. It basically means: "I don't care what you think, you're a piece of doo-doo"

Wow! Just got back from a visit to my doc in a box.

Rex, The Teacher is lovely. Is that an original?

Always fascinated with Jolie Blon, 'cause it the Cajun anthem. If you remember the situation of Gran Pre, it occurred in Nova Scotia.

Grand-Pré was founded by Acadian settlers who travelled east from Champlain's original settlement in Port-Royal Annapolis Royal in 1680. The settlement grew and developed great expanses of tidal marsh as productive farmland. However the community was caught between French and British imperial rivalries. In 1747, a French force defeated a larger British force in a night raid at the Battle of Grand-Pré. However the Acadian residents were all expelled from Grand Pre during the Great Upheaval, which began in 1755. American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow later immortalized the tragedy of the Grand Pre expulsion with his epic poem Evangeline.

Had to look up King Curtis. Great saxophone player and died at 37 from knife wounds.

Hey foxyowl, Welcome back and we all like that song by Ray, Jerry, and Fats.

Rock, Panz, et al. Great songs today on WA2K. Had no idea that Dennis Quaid did a movie about Jerry Lee.

hey, edgar. Great and funny song by Harry, it made me smile.

Hope I haven't missed anyone. It's hot and I'm concerned about my daughter who is on her way to Tennessee.

How about a repeat of Little Richard. Love the guy.

We'll dedicate this to Rock and his baby grapes and to the other cute faces on our forum.

Well, I will never say "Whatever" to you, either. Smile
And I am truly sorry for my shortcomings, re the Orange Blossom Special episode. Now, back to letty and the radio.

I am a big fan of Little Richard. I have his "farewell" album, in which he backed off from a thriving rock n roll career to do gospel. It covers his current hits of the time. And I have another album in which he does all his earlier big songs. Some of his best are not on youtube.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I didn't know that Little Richard went the gospel way. I like gospel music, however.

Here's the first one that I heard by Little Richard, y'all.

I like White Bird and Dr Hook, too.

Here is another artist who appeared on Sun Records at the same time as Jerry Lee Lewis. He only charted a few times, with Mona Lisa and one or two other songs.
