On second thought, that Jim Reeves song was pathetic. Never mind him; listen to this instead. If you wish to, that is.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

First, I would like to thank our edgar for doing such a wonderful job as manager of our little cyber radio station, and a thanks to all of our contributors as well. Sorry that I can't acknowledge each one, as your pd/producer doesn't have jet lag, but waiting sag. Had a five hour delay waiting for our connection to the not so friendly skies and I think it would have been faster and cheaper to have driven to Virginia. Fog did NOT "...creep in on little cat feet..." as it was a blanket that engulfed the entire mountain top.

I will say, edgar, that Comanchero was a great start for the day, buddy. Thanks.

Here are two songs to begin the day. First, a tribute to Stan Laurel whose birthday is today, then one from Rhomberg featuring Mario Lanza.

Now, Mario, folks.

Thanks, Rock, for the jazz flute. Wow, great version, too.

And our Brit has gone to bed with Jimmy Buffet's great observation about "happy hour". Used to have a cocktail tray that had the image of a clock that showed the hands eternally set on five o'clock

Hey, dys. You rock. Razz

Here's one for the cowboy, folks. This song used to be played behind the "Staples" commercial.

@Barry The Mod,
Mike Oldfield's premiere classical DVD "Music of the Spheres"

I'd classify it in the New Age genre and it's still available through Amazon:

"Tubular Bells" has shown on up a myriad of soundtracks, both film and TV, and recently in the spoof of the horror genre, "Scary Movie II."

@Lightwizard,
Mr. Wizard, that one by Mike was fabulous. I also saw that Tubular Bells was a part of the movie , Exorcist. I thought that I read he had done the music for this movie, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks, edgar. I watched this while I was in Virginia, and thought of you. Hilarious, Texas.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Loved the John McCormack aria, and his quibble with Tibbet over the Bflat thing was funny. Quite the Irish tenor, Texas.

I know why you're laughing over Dino doing Sway. Love it, buddy, and I enjoyed his great Italian voice. I didn't see The Mission either, but it looks good.

Sad item, y'all.

Guitarist Bob Bogle, lead guitarist for 60's rock band The Ventures, has died in his hometown of Tacoma, WA.
Bogle helped co-found the instrumental band that had several hits in the 60's including Walk, Don't Run.
Bogle, who was suffering from from non-Hodgkin lymphoma for the past several years, fell ill this weekend and was taken to the hospital. He passed on June 14, 2009.
Bogle started the band with Don Wilson in 1958. Their first hit was 1965's Walk, Don't Run, a twangy guitar instrumental that became a huge hit worldwide.

I remember The Ventures, but I didn't know the members of the group. Here is a group of songs by Bob.

@Letty,
Tubular Bells was the 1973 debut album for Mike Oldfield and the opening theme was chosen to use in "The Exorcist." The CD of the entire album is also still available, but is a new performance from 2003. The original LP can be had from Amazon anywhere from $ 25.00 to over $80.00. Some do not think the new recording on CD is comparable to the original and I've never researched why the audio tapes are not available for CD remastering.

Thanks, Mr. Wizard. I saw that earlier.

Well, time for me to say goodnight, but first we'll dedicate The Ventures to the mooseman and John of Virginia.

I was interested in Tibbet when I saw the bit on edgar's John McCormack's song, so I became interested in the man's voice.

I never think of Bizet that I don't think of firefly.

This is a funny pix, y'all.

My goodnight song is, of course, Toreador by Tibbet.

goodnight world.

From Letty with love
