BigDice is off to the North of Germany with my car. So I am using his car - an old Volvo that he bought for 500 Euros on ebay. It's his rock'n'roll car - the license plate is OU812 like the Van Halen album. So I have to listen to this kind of music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJrSyFpK3iQ

@urs53,
Lord have mercy, Urs. I used to think that motley meant dirty when I was a kid. Took me a while to understand that it meant varied. Love Motley Crue's Girls Girls Girls, and your song reminded me that it's Bike Week here. Rolling Eyes

Noise, Noise, Noise.

Oooh, bike week! Cool, Letty!

We are going to the Mötley Crüe concert in June. So I have to get used to the music a bit Laughing We are doing 'concert summer' this year! Mötley Crüe, Bruce Springsteen, ZZ Top, The BossHoss, Bang Your Head Festival - www.bang-your-head.de. And BigDice is working at Rock of Ages - www.rock-of-ages.de He will bring drinks to the stars! Exciting!

@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, you and I are on the same wave length again. (be sure and check out the Mills Brothers and the one inspired by Santa Anna, Texas)

Your Englebert song sent me to the archives again, and I found this bit of info.

Les Bicyclettes de Belsize is a 1968 British musical short film (30 mins) starring Judy Huxtable and Anthony May. It was directed by Douglas Hickox.

It tells the story of a young man (May) cycling around the Hampstead (NW3) area of London on a Raleigh RSW16. After crashing into a billboard he falls in love with a fashion model (Huxtable) depicted on it. Despite the title, the Belsize Park area does not actually figure in.
There is almost no spoken dialogue, and the soundtrack to the film is musical virtually throughout. The title song of the film has been a hit for Mireille Mathieu and Engelbert Humperdinck (a top ten hit in the UK and a top 40 hit in the USA) amongst others.

The title is derivative of the French film, Les Parapluies de Cherbourg; apart from a musical theme there is no other obvious link.

sooo, y'all, as one thing leads to another.

Hey, Urs. Glad that you dropped in again. Your PD/Producer will check out your response in a moment.

@urs53,
Bang your Head Festival and Rock of Ages? That is fabulous, gal. Can you imagine Head Bangers and hymn singers in the same concert?

"Rock of ages cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in thee."

@Izzie,
Oh, Izzie. that was one great song, and I loved the video. It seemed to represent the four seasons and the "motley" bit again. Thanks, Britess.

Well, folks, we could go back a few centuries. Remember the bicycle built for two? If I'm not mistaken, The Wright Bros. ran a bicycle shop; however, this one is about Daisy.

Incidentally, I think the line that I recall says: " I'll be damned if I'll be jammed on a bicycle built for two."

@Izzie,
Love that "Bicycle Race" by Queen, Iz, but, of course, one must watch the road signs.

I watched the Mills Brothers and the other video, letty. I bought three seperate albums by three different artists, including the Mills guys, to get copies of that song. Years ago.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, yes, edgar. The Mills Brothers were among my mom's favorite quartet. Interesting about The Penn Pipers having been inspired by Santa Anna, however.

Maybe it's time for ice skating, folks, but I don't think that Jethro means it literally.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Gerry Rafferty, edgar, but I found out rather quickly that he was Scottish and the sign Baker Street led me to this one, Texas.

Gerry Rafferty brought back lots of memories. Here's another one that always makes me think of my brother. So this is for him - and Nisse and Mysan of course! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM7LR46zrQU

@urs53,
wow! Urs, that song was fabulous. The lyrics are pure and haunting poetry. The Year of the Cat is cryptic but we like it that way.

This one is not as mesmerizing, but it's perfect for our wee cyber radio, y'all.

Izzie, loved that Paul Simon song. (you can call me Betty but I won't call you Al.)

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I will do it with a couple of songs, but first news from California.

It seems that giant squid have invaded the coast, folks.

@Letty,
Good morning, Letty. Did you know that daylight savings time starts tomorrow?

Do we really care about time?

Let's hear what Chicago says about it, shall we?
