Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

What delightful music, all.

Thanks, RH, for that great song by James, Paul, and Art. I know it and agree: What a wonderful world this would be.

Welcome back O Cosmic One. That was one funny song about Nessie. Ah, poor thing; no bonnie banks of Loch Ness any longer.

JPB, Moonlight Sonata was perfect. Have always loved Beethoven. Thanks, dear.

Well, folks, I did stay up until midnight, but no news as yet.

We used to call this one, "Midnight in Ma's Cow."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuzEP_D4MLQ&NR=1

Here are the lyrics in English.

Stillness in the grove
Not a rustling sound
Softly shines the moon clear and bright
Dear, if you could know
How I treasure so
This most beautiful Moscow Night

Lazily the brook like a silvery stream
Ripples in the light of the moon
And a song afar fades as in a dream
In this night that will end too soon
Yes a song afar fades as in a dream
In this night that will end too soon

Dearest, why so sad, why the downcast eyes
And your lovely head bent so low
Oh, I mustn’t speak, though I’d love to say
That you’ve stolen my heart away

Promise me my love, as the dawn appears
And the darkness turns into light
That you’ll cherish dear, through the passing years
This most beautiful Moscow Night

Say you’ll cherish dear through the passing years
This most beautiful Moscow Night

Good morning. Another wonderful day (My eyes popped open; that's how I know).
I never liked Dr Zhivago, but I do like this song.

@JPB,
for edgar and JPB.

edgar, I had to see the movie Dr. Zhivago in order to understand the book. I, too, love Lara's theme and thanks, Texas.

JPB, I saw that movie and truly loved it. I met Hope Lange at Mountain Lake Resort and she had her children by Baryshnikov with her. Sam Shepherd was also there. What a great time that was.

As Stray Cat knows, I read the book Nicholas and Alexandra by the Masseys. I became entranced with the Tsar and his family.

Here's a bit of history about the royal family. Couldn't find the theme to the movie with Ingrid Bergman and Yul Breyner (sp) but it was about the attempt to pass off Mrs. Anderson (who died in Charlottesville, Virginia) as Anastasia.

Here is the best that I could do from the movie, folks.

Queen Victoria passed the hemophilia gene to young Alexie, incidentally.

Appropos of nothing, I had to post this very unusual rendition of Great Balls of Fire. At first, I had to question who the artist happened to be, but it is indeed Jerry Lee.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! I would never have known that was Jerry Lee either! He doesn't act as exhuberant as he usually does.

This one is dedicated to Wachovia, Citicorp, and Wells Fargo. Razz

Here is Joan Baez, singing the final scene of Silent Running. A fine movie, starring Bruce Dern as a man attempting to preserve the last forest ever.

JPB, I thought it to be a wonderful parody, Chicago.

Ah, Izzie, you are such a dear. Thank you for visiting our wee studio. Hugs to you, honey.

edgar, I vaguely recall that film, but I really like Bruce Dern. Thanks, Texas. Joan always does the right songs.

Went out this evening to celebrate the life of Frank(Francis) who died. He was a whistler blower, and he was a good Irish man. I was amazed at the dj and what he chose to play. Frank loved jazz. Here is one by a wonderful jazz man, and I, of course, sat next to his platform and listened. (had a martini, too.)

That kid also did James Taylor and Jim Croce. All is not lost on the young musicians, right?

Back later with my good night song.

I had one of those cognitive insight moments, folks, and thought about Martin Luther. He never wanted to leave the Roman Catholic Church, just reform some of its practices such as usury.

Heard from my daughter ,and my son is on dialysis and had to be intubated.

Since this is Sunday, I thought that I would say goodnight with this hymn.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E54lZUnMucc&feature=related

aside to edgar. Roger Williams did a version of the hymn as well.

Goodnight,

From Letty with love.

We heard the song, Sink the Bismark, the other day. Here is a news item, an obituary, that ties in with it.

Ted Briggs

LONDON (AP) " Ted Briggs, the last survivor of the World War II sinking of British battle cruiser HMS Hood, died Saturday. He was 85.

He died in a hospital in Portsmouth, England, said HMS Hood Association Chairman Peter Heys.

Briggs was one of only three seamen among the crew of more than 1,000 to survive the attack by the German battleship Bismarck in the Denmark Strait on May 24, 1941.

Briggs, an 18-year-old signalman, later described how he was sucked under by the sinking ship before surfacing and seeing the Hood disappear below the waves.

He said he saw two other survivors, Midshipman William Dundas and Able Seaman Bob Tilburn, on rafts nearby. The three were picked up by another ship three hours later. Dundas died in 1965 and Tilburn in 1995.

The sinking of the flagship of the British home fleet, and the heavy loss of life, shocked a country proud of its naval might. Prime Minister Winston Churchill ordered the Bismarck hunted down and destroyed, and British forces sank it May 27.
