Lovely classical, firefly. Thanks.

Another morning song by Manhattan Transfer. I had forgotten about them, and I love the way they imitate one of the Mills Brothers. (incidentally, they are the ones who did "Blue Champagne")

Good morning, Raggedy. Thanks for the great quartet of famous folks. I'll bet we know them all, PA, and I loved The Morning After. All this time I thought that Carol Lynley had sung that in The Poseidon Adventure, and it was Maureen McGovern all the time. Rolling Eyes The remake of that movie was awful.

Here's a surprise, folks. Although we know this song from Superman, this is a wee bit different and from Seaworld.

Enjoyed the video and Maureen's version of Superman, Letty. It made me thank of this song done by the composer, Fred Neil (Everybody's Talkin' At me). The group "It's a Beautiful Day" had a nice version of it, too.

I wish Fred Neil's video had some dolphins in it. Smile

Thanks, edgar, for the Satisfied Man by Charlie. Hmmm, folks, now which Charlie was that again? Razz

firefly, that Boulevard of Broken Dream was a journey from the Roaring Twenties into the era of the Great Depression. The Hopper paintings were awesome, and thanks.

That sketch of Keenan Wynn and "Number Please" was hilarious. That must have been done during the WWII era.

Raggedy, that was a soothing video by Fred. We can imagine the dolphins gently blowing through that small hole in the top of their heads. I have heard it many times as they move down the intercoastal waterway, PA.

Well, folks, I found the original version of Gloomy Sunday and now I think we understand nimh's explanation. I prefer the one by Paul Robeson, but this one is a lesson in history as it was banned during the depression era for obvious reasons. Today is history day on WA2K.

Don't take it seriously, as I really don't believe the Hungarian version.

I could be mistaken, but I believe Phil Harris used to sing the Big Bopper tune.

Bill Gates, get out of our cyber studio. Go buy your own radio station. Razz

You're right, edgar, and Phil's was a much better version. I just checked it out.

Here's a surprise, folks. What a talent!

Malvina Reynolds wrote some songs which became quite popular, particularly when recorded by others like Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, and Harry Belafonte. But I don't think I ever heard this one before. Unfortunately, I think it's more true today than ever.

firefly, you may be right about "the food was terrible". I've been lucky here, I guess. Thanks for the fast food funny, too.

I love this take off on the song Temptation. I tried to find Perry Como's version without success. I didn't realize that Perry was so multifaceted. He could read music, play an instrument, etc. And the part of the critique that I admired the most was that he was a decent human being.

Here's Jo and another of her great parodies

Well, folks, time for me to say goodnight, and I'm gonna do it with some jazz.

This is dedicated to devriesj and Dutchy.

and, the lyrics.

(V. Schertzinger, J. Mercy)
[Recorded April 11, 1962, Los Angeles]

Tangerine, she is all they claim
With her eyes of night and lips as bright as flame
Tangerine, when she dances by, senoritas stare and caballeros sigh
And I've seen toasts to Tangerine
Raised in every bar across the Argentine
Yes, she has them all on the run, but her heart belongs to just one
Her heart belongs to Tangerine

Goodnight, world

From Letty with love

For Letty--three versions of Perry Como singing, Temptation, at varying points in his career. Enjoy.

This one was done in 1945

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP9MBl1J6MI&feature=related

This one is from 1977

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOtHYsn-B4U&feature=related

And this one is from 1993, when he was almost 81 years old

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyOFWQkXv-8&feature=related

It's amazing. Almost 50 years passed between those versions and the man proved he could always deliver a song.
