And this one just struck me as a charming bit of music.

Enjoyed Trini, firefly, and I found out that his father gave him a spanking for hanging out with low life. He Later bought him a guitar that he couldn't afford. Trini observed that the spanking was the best thing that ever happened to him

Interesting bit of French concertina there, gal.

Here's a tribute to Anna and her piano, folks.

Ah, firefly, when I was a kid I read every myth that I could find. Hippolyte was one of the Greek women warriors that I enjoyed. Most of them told stories, but some were for the purpose of warning us of stuff.

King Midas was a very kind man who ruled his kingdom fairly, but he was not one to think very deeply about what he said. One day, while walking in his garden, he saw an elderly satyr asleep in the flowers. Taking pity on the old fellow, King Midas let him go without punishment. When the god Dionysus heard about it, he rewarded King Midas by granting him one wish. The king thought for only a second and then said I wish for everything I touch to turn to gold." And so it was.

The beautiful flowers in his garden turned toward the sun for light, but when Midas approached and touched them, they stood rigid and gold. The king grew hungry and thin, for each time he tried to eat, he found that his meal had turned to gold. His lovely daughter, at his loving touch, turned hard and fast to gold. His water, his bed, his clothes, his friends, and eventually the whole palace was gold.

King Midas saw that soon his whole kingdom would turn to gold unless he did something right away. He asked Dionysus to turn everything back to the way it had been and take back his golden touch. Because the king was ashamed and very sad, Dionysus took pity on him and granted his request. Instantly, King Midas was poorer that he had been, but richer, he felt, in the things that really count.

Thanks for the tribute to Lynda. Too bad that she wasn't the amazon that she played.

So, folks, here is a song about that Midas touch.

And, since I am just pooped, I will say an early goodnight.

I leave you with the Meditation from Massenet's opera, Thais, and the ethereal sound of James Galway's flute.

Peace, and a goodnight, to all.

ah, edgar. Raggedy will pop in here and sing along (make that listen along) on those Hawaiian songs. Marty was better than I remember.

firefly, I love that song, and Harry has tried his best to be Frank, methinks. He's not bad on piano, either.

What a beautiful way to say goodnight, dear. Massenet, a flute and calming scenery. Hey, you about got me a bit sleepy with that one.

But I am not too pooped to pop.

So, let's hear one from the jazz boys, folks. This will wake us up.

edgar, I am amazed. "I'm Gonna sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" was originally done by Fats Waller. Like that song, buddy.

Also listened to Nola by Billy, and since I know that song as a piano piece, I searched it out to find that Nola is a place in Spain.

Hey, Texas. Bobby Darin turned out to be Johnny Rivers and the Seventh Son. Great, however. Loved the video as well.

RH, that was a beautiful addition to our Dan George. Wow! I had forgotten Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man. The end of the video had a bit of humor. Thanks, honey.

Well, it's time for me to say goodnight, and I thought about something soft and gentle, but instead, folks, after having played Coltrane, I thought this one might be great as another type train.

The first exchange that panzade and I had was about this song.

I almost played Nola, by Billy Williams. I loved that guy's styling.
Here is the Bobby Darin. This features Bobby at his very best.

Good morning, WA2K radio folks.

edgar, Had no idea that Bobby sang that one. Like it, however, and thanks.

Here is the first one that I ever heard by B.D. Love it still and recall singing it at a gig. A guy from our church came up to the bandstand and wanted to hear Mack the Knight. Although he was a deacon, he was a wee bit in his cups. Razz

When Mack the Knife was a hit, I recall Bobby Darin guesting on the Jackie Cooper series called Hennesy. Darin played a malingering entertainer in a naval hospital. He'd been drafted at the height of his career and wanted to get discharged. Naturally, it all turned out well in the end, and they concluded the episode with Mack the Knife.

I always associate Mack the Knife with Bobby Darin.

Just curious about what you folks thought of the Kevin Spacey movie, Beyond the Sea, about Darin.

I'm starting my day with a little toe-tapping.

firefly, that Jelly Roll Morton song was great. Thanks for the "awake" music.

I have never seen Kevin Spacey in a bad movie, gal. Without peeking, I recall that he did his own singing. That man is absolutely terrific. Strangely enough, The Usual Suspects was on last evening. What a shocker of an ending.

Well, folks, I understand that today is Matt LeBlanc's birthday, and although I don't remember the man, I understand that he had a role in the TV show, Friends. (never saw that one, either)

Here's a song from the show, all.

I thought I was the only one who never watched Friends. Laughing

Similarly, I never listened to the Spice Girls either, but I finally decided to give them a try. It's not really my kind of music, but they're not bad. Here they sing about friends.

I wondered why the video looked like a lingerie ad, then I read they had some tie-in with a Victoria's Secret fashion show. This one was also released as a charity single for Children in Need.
