Subject: God & Michael & Balance
God was missing for six days.
Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him resting on the seventh day. He inquired, 'Where have you been?'> * *
God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds,
'Look, Michael. Look what I've made'. Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, 'What is it?'
'It's a planet', replied God, 'and I've put Life on it. I'm going to
call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test Balance'.
'Balance?' inquired Michael, 'I'm still confused.' God explained,
pointing to different parts of earth'For example, Northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity
and wealth, while southern Europe will be poor''Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is
a continent of black people. Balance in all things'.
God continued pointing to different countries. 'This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice'
The Archangel , impressed by God's work, thenpointed to a land area and said, 'What's that one?''That's Washington State, the most glorious place on earth. There are
beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and
plains. The people from Washington State are going to be handsome,
modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the
world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving
and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats, carriers of
peace, and producers of software'
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, 'But what
about balance, God? You said there would be balance'God smiled, 'There is another Washington. Wait til you see the
idiots I put there'
Good morning, Bob of Boston. Thanks again for the great bio's and I loved your funny about the idiots in Washington. So, we are back to balance, and that would be yin/yang.
Until our Raggedy arrives, folks, I was reminded of this delightful song by the palindromic ABBA.

Here is Doris Day with a bit of silliness. I like that one by Abba.
Good Morning WA2K.
A BD celebrity trio:

and one of my favorites. Shame the video is so murky.

Wishing you all a lovely day.
edgar, I like that silliness song. Ah, Doris. She did a lot of them, folks, and thanks, Texas.
There's our spotted pup with a trio today. Thanks, PA and both of those songs are great. Love the oldies. They can't take those away from us, right?
Just noticed that ticomaya is back. Wondered where he was, y'all, so here is a song by Glen that always reminds me of him.

Since Barbara Stanwyck's real name was Ruby, this one is for her

And here's another tribute to her

Anyone remember her flick, Sorry, Wrong Number? That one was a great thriller.
I always think of Stanwyck playing tough, independent women. This song could be their anthem.

Today is also the birthday of actor Ruben Blades. But he's not just a fine film actor, he's also a Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, a graduate of Harvard law school, and the current Minister of Tourism in Panama. Talk about a renaissance man!
Let's listen to Ruben sing

Hey, firefly. Glad that you are back. I listened to your tribute to Barbara Stanwyck and they were all great. She was/is a great lady, and as you say, a strong woman.
Also loved your Ruben song and his Spanish Camelon. Thanks, dear.
When you asked about the movie, Sorry, Wrong Numeber, it brought to mind Dial M for Murder. In searching, I found that it is going to be remade starring Charlize Theron. What a shock to find out that Charlize was the one who starred in the movie Monster. Wow!
Another footnote, y'all. I was delighted to discover how that zinging sound was done in the Glen Cambell song. It was the flute section. How very delightful.
A tribute for Charlize from South Africa who is now an American citizen.

That would be the third remake of Dial M for Murder. I did not really care for the last one, with Michael Douglas (A Perfect Murder). Hope the one with Charlize will be better. Charlize is as talented as she's beautiful. She has given us some magic moments onscreen

Always have loved Perry, firefly. I think that my husband told me that he knew the doctor who had done surgery on his eyes. His name was, of all things, Dr. Blades.
Here's another Perry, folks.

How many times I've seen "Sorry Wrong Number" - and can never remember whether Burt had a change of heart. I so wanted him to be a good guy.
I agree about "Perfect Murder", Firefly.
Speaking of "magic". Remember this one that was featured in "Highlander".

Didn't mean to interrupt, Letty.
Perry can still be seen in his hometown - about a 30 minute drive from my hometown - where he once had a barbershop.
And a tribute to Buster Keaton--his physical comedy and stunts were amazing and hilarious.

Just a reminder, Raggedy. I am simply the PD here and you get to interrupt Letty any time that you like.
Thanks for the Highlander song, and I just discovered that it was a TV series. We might have to call this segment, the discovery radio.
I had no idea that Perry's memorial statue was near you, PA. Thanks for letting us know.
firefly, thanks for the Tom Jones song. "That Old Black Magic" has been done by many, and Buster Keaton was hilarious. One had to be really talented to come across well in the silent movie era.
Well, folks, here's a song from The Highlander series.

Letty, thanks for your email. Have you not been getting my replies? I've sent one every time you have written me.
I most certainly did, Reyn, and here's one for you. I just saw an update from the hottest time of day.

When I was a boy, I listened to Sorry Wrong Number on the radio more than once. This from a site dedicated to old radio shows:
Sorry, Wrong Number was originally a half-hour radio script written by Lucille Fletcher. It was a huge hit. Agnes Moorehead performed the drama to radio-listening audiences seven times from 1943 to 1948. The story had such a strong following, Fletcher fleshed out the tale and turned it into a best-selling novel and later the script for the classic film noir.
