Reading about Jeff Corwin's travels into the American West made me want to listen to some Copland.

George Baker
Little Green Bag

I've never spent much effort to understand the lyrics. I just like to listen.

Well, folks, today is creature day. We have the hawk-the puppy-the firefly and the SPCA folks, edgar and Letty. Razz We are happy to find that all creatures here are happy and well cared for.

Thanks, Texas, for The little Green Bag. Often I just like to listen as well.

Then there's Jan and Dean who lead the surfers and that was a great memory for all of us.

The song from Charlotte's Web was delightful. Thanks, firefly.

Of course Dylan and his buckets of rain provide our wee things with the moisture that they need to survive. Found a tiny salamander who was just before becoming dried out, and I gently lifted him in the palm of my hand and put him outside to soak up the rain.

Also love Coplan's Appalachian Spring, but one of the observers was correct. The Appalachian Mountains are farther East.

Thanks to all of you for your contributions.

Here's one by Dan that speaks of open cages. Wonder what kind of cage he is referring to?

Letty, most of Copland reminds me of the American West, regardless of the title of the piece Laughing

What could be more perfect for creature day than to listen to a bit of Carnival of the Animals.

firefly, you're right. Who cares about the location. (just realtors)

I love The Carnival of Animals by Saint Saens. Thurber worked with him on that as well.

Here's another by Camille Saint-Saens. (you should have heard the way I pronounced that originally.)

There was a brief clip of this one in the movie Tombstone.

Here's another one in honor of Robert the Bruce. It could not be more relaxing, or Galway's flute more enchantingly lovely.

Ah, firefly, I love to look and feel the water. The flute was lovely, as well as the background. Rather reminds me of the rivers of Virginia.

More water music, folks, and this time it's air by Handel.

Well, edgar. I knew most of those groups. Still cannot find that Proust piece, however.

Rock, that was hilarious, but I think I just felt Homer and Virgil turn over in their graves.

Well, folks, time for me to say goodnight until "...the rosy fingered dawn.." appears.

This is a nice song for "...getting out of this place..." and going to bed.

To all the Greeks and their gifts and the rest of the animals.

Goodnight with a smile,

From Letty with love

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Two things today that I would like to play to greet the day.

First, Grieg.

What a lovely way to start the day, Letty.

And here's another, from Oscar Hammerstein II, whose birthday we remember today.

Now something to get the juices flowing. A birthday salute to pianist Van Cliburn, who is 74 today. Here he is at 23, in his historic performance in Moscow.

Hello radiopeople - I am back!

And I went to another concert - The Bangles live in Tuttlingen. It was great. This here is not Tuttlingen - but I was at least as close to the stage as this...

Bangles

Urs, mapleleaf was asking about you, dear. Welcome back. I want to listen to Bangles in just one minute

firefly, thank you for the Oklahama song. We'll dedicate that to Eva.

Wow! Van Cliburn did that beautifully. I'm certain that Tchaikovsky approves.

Here's another from Hammerstein, y'all, and my favorite from The Sound of Music.

Well, folks, while we wait for our Urs to do her grocery shopping, let's listen to another type "bangles". This one is from Kismet done ala jazz.

Another Hammerstein song I have always loved. This one was written with Sigmund Romberg and was first heard in the film "The Night Is Young" (1935).

Good morning WA2K.

Letty: I'm confused. You say you still haven't found the Proust music. I thought the Brahms Symphony was the Proust piece you were looking for. Isn't that the music played on the "In Search of Lost Time" video. Confused
