Chris Isaak
Of course, if you aren't familiar with Chris Isaak you HAVE to hear and WATCH the following (steamy) video where he cavorts with super-model Helena Christensen -- rolling on the beach with Isaak:

Wicked Game

BTW, did you know that Isaak is also an amateur boxer, a former Golden Gloves champion and an avid surfer?

Well, Ragman, I am beginning to see that there's quite a bit that I don't know about Chris. As for that wicked game, let me just say that I turned the air conditioning up a bit here in our wee studio.

I've played this one before, folks, but I really want to do it anew. Had a request for it, as a matter of record.

And for those who don't know, here are the lyrics.

Blue, blue, my world is blue, blue is my world now I'm without you
Gray, gray, my life is gray, cold is my heart since you went away
Red, red, my eyes are red, crying for you alone in my bed
Green, green, my jealous heart, I doubted you and now we're apart

When we met how the bright sun shone
Then love died, now the rainbow is gone

Black, black, the nights I've known, longing for you so lost and alone

When I hear Love is Blue, I think of this song; perhaps because they came out in the same time period.

Truly amazing voice and, I think that's his guitar styling too, (sounding mysteriously like guitar tone and styling of Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits too). I'm checking musical credits now.

We lost electric twice so far today. Thunder boomers. It was off close to an hour that one time. Thing about losing electric, the water well that supplies our neighborhood is next door and uses the same source of power. Thus, no power, no water. What complicates matters is, the residents across the street are on a different transformer. They can have electric when we don't. But, they don't know when the water power is off at first, so they drain the big tanks, putting air in the water lines. Well, Johnny Rivers has a song, all about Summer Rain.

Edgar: glad to see you're OK.

I checked it out: guitar work on 'Wicked Game' is Chris' handiwork

I hear that.
He has a that Roy Orbison sort or singing range, added to the mix are his strong guitar licks. That sweet Sun Stdios sound of Elvis' and Jerry Lee is fashioned to be there, too.

Talked to my daughter. Same situation in Virginia. Rain and lightning, and it's looking threatening here as well.

Don't know Johnny Rivers, but I liked his voice.

edgar, funny. Your Winter Love reminded me of Boris Pasternak and the subsequent movie, Dr. Zhivago.

The music from Dr Zhivago is wonderful.

I thought maybe one more from Johnny Rivers would be in order.

Walter used to accuse me of having been places that were in the boondocks. Don't even know where that expression comes from, but edgar's "Poor Side of Town" did remind me of this one and the pop groups of the 60's. I have to smile now, folks.

Billy Joe made several good songs. I guess that was my favorite.

Here is a tribute to Harry Belafonte. It features album covers and photos from stage and TV, as he sings, Cu Cu Ru Cu Cu Paloma, as featured on the album, Belafonte at Carnegie Hall.

Great tribute to Harry B., edgar. I liked the one that he did with Nat Cole, too. Didn't know that he was in Porgy and Bess. Will have to check that one out. Bess You Is My Woman Now is a wonderful jazz tune.

Here's something a little different, folks. I had to grow to appreciate this group.

Belafonte and Lena Horne made an album based on Porgy and Bess. To my knowledge, neither one played in a production of it. I have the album and I enjoy some of the tunes. But, the album was widely judged a failure. I am no expert. I don't know what they were looking for that was missing.

Belafonte's voice becomes more hoarse each year, and he's in his 80s, yet he continues to sing well. How does he d it?

Hey, Rock. Welcome back. I know what you mean about being a weird day, buddy. That was a great tribute to Jim Henson by Harry, incidentally, and Thanks.

Well, it's time for me to say goodnight, and I think I'll let Gershwin do it for me.

Here's Miles Davis doing, "Bess You is My Woman Now."
