Just something to keep the thread rolling Smile The great Benny Goodman playing Sing Sing Sing. Watch that drummer, could it be Gene Krupa?

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Thanks for all the great contributions.

edgar, I do suppose you know the three laws of plumbing, right?

I know both Sonny James songs, Texas. He was better than I remembered. Especially liked Apache. Thank you.

Dutchy, thanks for that Benny Goodman song. I can't recall much about Krupa, but I think he got busted for pot. Also, Benny was a great classical performer. Just checked it out. Thanks for keeping WA2K radio on the air.

Remember, y'all, this radio is international and is not mine. I just hope we can get other contributions from other countries.

Breaking news:

Harvey Korman dies at 81
By BOB THOMAS - 5 hours ago
LOS ANGELES (AP) ?- Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to "The Carol Burnett Show" and played a conniving politician to hilarious effect in "Blazing Saddles," died Thursday. He was 81.
Korman died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said. He had undergone several major operations.
"He was a brilliant comedian and a brilliant father," daughter Kate Korman said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "He had a very good sense of humor in real life. "
A natural second banana, Korman gained attention on "The Danny Kaye Show," appearing in skits with the star. He joined the show in its second season in 1964 and continued until it was canceled in 1967. That same year he became a cast member in the first season of "The Carol Burnett Show."

A funny one from Harvey, all.

Good morning Letty and listeners. Another oldie just crossed my mind, remember Frankie Laine singing 'Ghostrider in the sky'?

Dutchy, I most certainly do. I never hear that song that I don't think of Ambrose Bierce's short story, "Horseman in the Sky". What a great writer he was, and the entire sum and substance of that story was awesome.

I couldn't believe that Frankie Laine wrote the lyrics to this one, either, folks.

No tears
No fears
Remember there's always tomorrow
So what if we have to part
We'll be together again

Your kiss
Your smile
Are memories I'll treasure forever
So try thinking with your heart
We'll be together again

Times when I know you'll be lonesome
Times when I know you'll be sad
Don't let temptation surround you
Don't let the blues make you bad

Some day
Some way
We both have a lifetime before us
For parting is never goodbye
We'll be together again.

Times when I know you'll be lonesome
Times when I know you'll be sad
Don't let temptation surround you
Don't let the blues make you bad

Some day
Some way
We both have a lifetime before us
For parting is not goodbye
We'll be together again.

It's hard to pick a favorite Platters tune, but this is one of their best.

I guess, 1957. A very good year for rock n roll and these types of songs.

The original Platters with probably their greatest hit. Saw them perform this life in 1957, on the same program were Bill Haley and the Comets, 'Big' Joe Turner, La Verne Baker and Freddie Bell and the Bell Boys. greatest colncert I've ever seen!

Thanks, Dutchy and edgar for the "one hit wonder" and the platter songs. I know them and they bring back memories.

I especially enjoyed "The Bass Man"

Anyone remember "...I told the witch doctor I was in love with you..."?

Time for me to say goodnight, all, and since it this lady's birthday, it shall be my song for the evening.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

I awoke this morning thinking of the beauty of a zephyr passing through the strings of a harp, and suddenly this song, one which I have never heard, surfaced from nowhere.

Good morning Letty

Oh, how lovely was that - it was very sad... but hopeful. Funny how that happens. It was just the sort of song I had in my heart this morning.

I found out yesterday my house is sold (which is all good) ... I will be in the new Chez Izzie within 2 weeks. 10 years of memories here....

The pic on the end of the VT - when wee Maddie disappeared it was around my little fellas birthday - I gave him a rescue pup from the local animal shelter (he needed a best friend) - we called the pup Maddie.

Oh.... reflective mood going on here. Need some happy music to help me pack boxes Very Happy

Wishing you a wonderful day on the radio Very Happy x

More synchronicity, Izzie. I felt the same way about my house in Virginia.

You're right, we need to energize, so here is one to get you going with the boxes.

Izzie, you don't want to know what we sang in school. Noone seemed to have any imagination about music.

Here is another from South Pacific, all. I don't particularly care for "Sam and Janet evening", however.

Oh Letty - for some reason that made me think of this...

Do You Hear The People Sing - One Day More

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUCZywEwbvo&feature=related

which always gives me goosebumps and makes me shed a tear (pathetic a?) - it just has so much emotion and makes me a take deep breath in every time I hear it. To me - the best musical of all time...

oh......

Oh, my God, Izzie, that was fantastic. A song for all nations! Well, at least we have a lot of countries represented in that outpouring. Thank you, my dear; a wonderful cup of good cheer.

Time for a station break:

This is cyber station, WA2K radio.
