Aaaah, Letty. I'm sorry to hear about your headache. Tell it to please go away NOW. You are needed at the station.

And what's this about a Boston gathering? Is there a thread about it, and maybe some pictures, too, here at A2K?

So, giving the buggy a push, here are today's B.D. celebs:

1746 Francisco de Goya y Lucientes, painter (Aragon, Spain; died 1828)
1853 Vincent van Gogh, painter (Groot Zundert, Netherlands; died 1890)
1880 Sean O'Casey, playwright (Dublin, Ireland; died 1964)
1899 Irving Thalberg US producer (MGM); died 1936
1913 Frankie Laine, singer (Chicago, IL)
1919 McGeorge Bundy, statesman/educator (Boston, MA; died 1996)
1920 Turhan Bey Vienna Austria, actor (Dragon Seed, Ali Baba & 40 Thieves, Arabian Nights)
1929 Richard Dysart, actor (Augusta, ME)
1930 John Astin, actor (Baltimore, MD)
1937 Warren Beatty, actor/director (Richmond, VA)
1945 Eric Clapton, musician/singer/songwriter (Surrey, England)
1957 Paul Reiser, actor (New York, NY)
1964 Tracy Chapman, singer/songwriter (Cleveland, OH)
1968 Celine Dion, singer (Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada)

Wow. Somebody for everyone here. An Irishman; a Hollywood Boy Wonder; a cohort of Sabu; a great musician; a Canadian; great painters, and that Lucky Ole Sun, Mule Train Guy.

Tough decision as to what picture to post.

Well, since it's Turhan Bey's 83rd B.D.:

and Warren Beatty is 68 (seems like only yesterday):

Good afternoon to all.

Thanks to Bob for pushing the envelope. Razz
Thanks to George for just being here.
Thanks to Raggedy for he of the fez.
Thanks to all for holding the fort.

Let's see now listeners. We have envelope, here, fez and fort. What can we do with that? Still haven't solved Cyracuz's riddle.

and a special thanks to Linda, my cleaning lady, for doing double duty that enabled me to go back to bed and dream.

Frankly, Bob and George, Raggedy and I are thinking of becoming groupies, right Raggedy?

(Eric Clapton)

It ain't no big deal, we're all lucky to be alive,
I myself don't believe in luck, or taking chances, I will survive.
Every move I make, every twist every turn,
You scandalize and humble me, I may be slow but I will learn.

'Cause I ain't going down anymore.
'Cause I ain't going down anymore.
'Cause I ain't going down anymore.
'Cause I ain't going down anymore.

If I had my way, I would probably just sit and stare.
Watch the T. V. or read a book, I'd have no reason to be aware,
But I ain't got time, I just could not live that way.
I've got to step outside myself, I've still got something left to say.

Chorus

Chorus

Channelled in my groove, part of another space and time.
Please allow me to introduce another good friend of mine.
Some call him fear, some call him righteousness.
I myself ain't clear, and you can't force me to make a guess.

Eric the read.

Back later, folks.

Here is another link to a pic from the North of Boston get together. Our soccer George is the noble looking man in green. Our bobsmythhawk is the lovely man with the sweet smile on George's left. Bobsmythhawk, he of the pigeion for luring hawks.

Letty, there is plenty of time for you to relax and take a hot, soaky bath with lots of lavender to gently eliminate that headache. Here sweetie, sink in and soak to your little heart's content while your friends cover for you until you are really feeling better. The will be tea and little nibbles of yummies for you later.

Hey, Lady Diane, that was the same gathering to which I was referring, but I saw the other pixes as well--the one with Andrew there.

And to complete Arabian nights:

Thought for Today: ``All mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are moveable, and those that move.'' - Arab proverb.

Don't you love it?

One of my favourite tunes in New Orleans/Dixieland Jazz - here, however, the lyrics by Beatles:

Well I'm the sheik of Araby,
your love belongs to me.
Well at night where you're asleep,
into your tent I'll creep.
The stars that shine above
will light our way to love.
You rule this world with me,
I'm the sheik of Araby.

Well I'm the sheik of Araby,
your love belongs to me.
Oh at night where you're asleep,
into your tent I'll creep.
The sun that shines above
will light our way to love.
You rule this world with me,
I'm the sheik of Araby.
Well I'm the sheik of Araby,
well I'm the sheik of Araby, yeah

Fabulous Jacuzzi, Di. Love to have one of those, but the roof over my head comes first. <smile>

Actually, I had the most vivid reverie (a day dream while asleep). I was back in the classroom looking for someone who had stolen $400.00 from my purse. The classrooms all had state of the art computers, and I kept trying to get a message out to you here at WA2K.

Speaking of reverie:

Our love
Is a dream, but in my reverie
I can see that this love was meant for me
Only a poor fool
Never schooled in the whirlpool
Of romance could be so cruel
As you are to me
My dreams are as worthless as tin to me
Without you life will never begin to be
So love me
As I love you in my reverie
Make my dream a reality
Let's dispense with formality
Come to me in my reverie

ELLA FITZGERALD - "My Reverie" lyrics

Based on DuBussey's lovely Reverie.

Herr Walter. Ah, if it were only midnight at the oasis and you had a camel.....well Laughing Incidentally, my parallel friend, I think that song was based on Rudolph Valentino.

Listeners, we do have fun here, do we not?

Back later with a poem for that bridge Brit.

It's from 1921. Lyrics are by Harry Smith and Francis Wheeler, music by Ted Snyder .

Sweet words Diane. Thank you. Letty, I'd lounge in the tub with you anytime. And after the loving.....

After the Loving
( Engelbert Humperdinck )

So I sing you to sleep after the loving
With a song that I wrote yesterday
And I hope that it's clear what the words
And the music have to say

It's so hard to explain all the things that I'm feeling
Face to face I just seem to go dry
But I love you so much that the sound
Of your voice can make me high

Thanks for taking me
On a one way trip to the sun
Thanks for turning me into a someone

So I sing you to sleep after the loving
And I brush back the hair from your eyes
And the love on your face is so real
That it makes me want to cry........

And I know that my song isn't saying anything new
Oh, but after the loving, I'm still in love with you

Doesn't get any better than that.

Walter, I meant that the song was popularized because of the epitome of THE SHEIK--Rudolph. Razz

Well, I can tell you one thing, Bob Hawk. I most certainly wouldn't say, "not tonight; I have a headache!"

Actually, as much as I hate to admit it, I think that is where dys gets his bubble baths.
