My word, folks, I missed hbg and his swing and tango. Thanks, buddy, cause you just made me think of Ella and Rudolph.

Ah, the Blue Tango. What a dance what a stance.

http://www.gildasattic.com/valentino51.jpg

But, folks, as Ella observes..

What good is melody, what good is music
If it ain't possessin' something sweet
It ain't the melody, it ain't the music
There's something else that makes the tune complete
It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing
It don't mean a thing, all you got to do is sing
It makes no diff'rence if it's sweet or hot
Just give that rhythm ev'rything you got
It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing

Blues Country
Marty Robbins

The city streets are friendless and cold I walk them mile after mile
I'm a country boy a singing the blues the blues country style
Nobody stops to tell me hello not even one friendly smile
I'm a country boy alone with the blues the blues country style
One hundred tears make one city block two thousand tears make a mile
I'm a country boy with miles of blues the blues country style
Tonight in dreams I'm going back home and I'll be happy a while
But I know at dawn I'll wake with the blues the blues country style
I'm a country boy a singing the blues the blues country style

Hey, edgar. Thanks for the Marty melody. Another one who died too young, Texas.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I cannot believe that I found such a wonderful version of this song, folks.

This is a lovely way to spend an evening
Can't think of anything I'd rather do
This is a lovely way to spend an evening
Can't think of anyone as lovely as you

BRIDGE
A casual stroll through a garden
A kiss by a lazy lagoon
Catching a breath of moonlight
Humming our favorite tune

This is a lovely way to spend an evening
I want to save all my nights and spend them with you

Catching a breath of moonlight
Humming our favorite tune

This is a lovely way to spend an evening
I want to save all my nights and spend them with you

Good morning, WA2K, folks.

Thanks to Debacle and edgar for the sand and Holly. Razz Loved them both, fellows.

Here's a great way to begin our day, all.

When the sun is high in the afternoon sky
You can always find something to do
But from dusk till dawn as the clock ticks on
Something happens to you

In the wee small hours of the morning
While the whole wide world is fast asleep
You lie awake and think about the boy
And never ever think of counting sheep

When your lonely heart has learned its lesson
You'd be his if only he'd call
In the wee small hours of the morning
That's the time you miss him most of all

When your lonely heart has learned its lesson
You'd be his if only he'd call
In the wee small hours of the morning
That's the time you miss him most of all

Urs, welcome back to our cyber studio, gal. You are one amazing lady with a recuperative constitution. Amazing trio, right?

Have you any requests for today? I know that you like Bruce Springsteen.

Well, Urs is probably having lunch, but these lyrics by Bruce are lovely, and we will dedicate them to her from BigDice.

When you need me call my name
'Cause without you my life just wouldn't be the same
If you want me come sunny skies or rain
When you need me just call my name

If you miss me, I'll be there
To brush the sunlight from your hair
I'll be there to guide you when trouble walks beside you
If you need me I'll be there
And when this dirty world has been cold to you
I got two strong arms waitin' to hold you
And when those mean days come along
We'll stand together and we'll take 'em on
So if you need me just call my name

When you need me call my name
'Cause without you my life just isn't the same
'Cause when this world kicked me around
You picked me up off the ground
So if you need me I'll be there

Good day to you, Raggedy. Great montage as usual, and I just did a quick search of Danny Kaye and was stunned to see that he died from hepatitis C as a result of a blood transfusion that was tainted.

Perhaps, folks, this song will elicit hebba's return. We do hope so, but I think most of us love it regardless.

Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Copenhagen, wonderful, wonderful
Copenhagen for me
I sailed up the Skagerrak
And sailed down the Kattegat
Through the harbor and up to the quay
And there she stands waiting for me
With a welcome so warm and so gay
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Copenhagen, wonderful, wonderful
Copenhagen for me

Urs, I didn't actually get his approval, because he was so busy cleaning up the place and fixing your lunch that he didn't have time to respond. Razz

Here's one by Bobby Goldsboro that probably defines a lot of the men folks, y'all.

The Straight Life
Bobby Goldsboro

Sometimes I imagine myself as a drifter,
Seeker of fortunes, connoisseur of great wines.
Dashing through meadows of yellow and green,
Trying to catch the impossible dream,
Leavin' the straight life behind.

Sometimes my thoughts may find me in Mexico,
Drinkin' tequila goin' out of my mind.
Havin' a ball on a couple 'a bob,
Treatin' the ladies to corn on the cob,
Leavin' the straight life behind.

Suddenly all my silly thoughts disappear,
She comes to me softly with crackers and beer,
Winkin' and blinkin' and blowin' in my ear,
Runnin' away with my mind.

It's great to be in love, I'm not really thinkin' of
Leavin' the straight life behind
I'm just playin' a game in my mind.
Doo do do do do do do do do

Once in a while in my mind I go bummin',
Goin' to nowhere, with no worry of time
Runnin' along chasin' after a train,
Hummin' a song in the sun and the rain,
Leavin' the straight life behind.

I can just see me on a tropical island,
Ridin' the surf and drinkin' coconut wine.
Havin' me fun with golden girls in the sand,
Chasin' the sun through an innocent land,
Leavin' the straight life behind.

Suddenly all my silly thoughts disappear,
She comes to me softly with crackers and beer,
Winkin' and blinkin' and blowin' in my ear,
Runnin' away with my mind.

It's great to be in love, I'm not really thinkin' of
Leavin' the straight life behind,
I'm just playin' a game in my mind.

Do doo do do do do doo do do

Hey, Sharon, and the thing of it is, that Anthony looks exactly like Rudolph.

One of my favorite movies starring Kevin Costner was The Body Guard, so here's a song by Whitney that was featured in that movie.

If I should stay I would only be in your way
so I'll go
but I know I'll think of you every step of the way
And I will always love you will always love you
You my darling you bitter sweet memories
That is all I am taking with me so
Good-by
please don't cry we both know
I'm not what you you need

And I will always love you will always love you
I hope life treats you kind and
I hope you have all you dreamed of
And I wish you joy and happiness but above all of this
I wish you love and I will always love you
Will always love you I will always love you

The Great Dolly Parton wrote that one and I loved Whitney's rendition! That was sweet, Letty

good evening , listeners !
preparing for a somewhat cool weekend with snow !
so picked up enough cd's and books to keep us entertained .

let's start with an IRVING BERLIN song , played by benny goodman and his band .

http://zodii.ru/faces/02taurus/Berlin/IrvingBerlinSongbook.jpg

Quote:
Just a sweet coquette, so they say and yet
I know how true you can be
Just a butterfly, so they say but I
Know just how much you love me

The others you've met may call you Coquette
But I'll always call you "sweetheart"

They think of Coquette as something to pet
But I think of you as "sweetheart"

They say you're a devil with wonderful charms
But I held an angel that night in my arms

So try and forget the name of Coquette
And only remember "sweetheart"

[2]
Now that I love you, and you love me too
I'll keep you close to my heart
Now that I can see you belong to me
Nothing can keep us apart

benny's band is still one of the best !

and another one of IRVING'S fine tunes :

I'm putting all my eggs in one basket

glenn miller and his band - pardon me : ORCHESTRA ! - are playing

http://www.swingmusic.net/Big_Band_Swing_From_Glenn_Miller.jpg

Quote:
I've been a roaming Romeo
My Juliets have been many
But now my roaming days have gone
Too many irons in the fire
Is worse than not having any
I've had my share and from now on:

I'm putting all my eggs in one basket
I'm betting ev'rything I've got on you

I'm giving all my love to one baby
Heaven help me if my baby don't come through

I've got a great big amount
Saved up in my love account
Honey
And I've decided
Love divided
In two
Won't do

So
I'm putting all my eggs in one basket
I'm betting everything I've got on you

[2]
I've been a roaming Juliet
My Romeos have been many
But now my roaming days have gone
Too many irons in the fire
Is worse than not having any
I've had my share and from now on:

I'm putting all my eggs in one basket
I'm betting ev'rything I've got on you

I'm giving all my love to one baby
Heaven help me if my baby don't come through

I've tried to love more than one
Finding it just can't be done
Honey
There's one I lie to
When I try to
Be true
To two

So
I'm putting all my eggs in one basket
I'm betting everything I've got on you

Well, Sharon, we live and learn here on our little cyber radio. I didn't know that Dolly did that one. Thanks, gal.

My word, hbg. Now I know why I know the melody to Japanese Sandman. Benny Goodman did it, and as is the case in my family, melodies are handed down. I do believe the one that you just played was done by Rudy Vallee.

Don't know your Glen Miller song, but I do know that the man was never found, and supposedly died in a plane crash. Someone told my husband that he was killed by a jealous lover. Sounds probable.

I woke up one evening when I lived in Virginia, to this song from My Own Private Idaho. After some research, I found that movie was based on a Shakespeare play.

Rudy Vallee

Deep night, stars in the sky above
Moonlight, lighting our place of love
Night winds seem to have gone to rest
Two eyes, brightly with love are gleaming

Come to my arms, my darling, my sweetheart, my own
Vow that you'll love me always, be mine alone

Deep night, whispering trees above
Kind night, bringing you nearer, dearer and dearer
Deep night, deep in the arms of love

Come to my arms, my darling, my sweetheart, my own
Vow that you'll love me always, and be mine alone

Deep night, whispering trees above
Kind night, bringing you nearer, dearer and dearer
Deep night, deep in the arms of love
