Debacle, that was one of the funniest performances that I have ever heard. I knew Wally was funny, and I think he was the minister that someone got drunk in Spencer's Mountain. Thanks for reminding me of Mr. Peepers, buddy, and for giving us a genuine laugh this evening.

edgar, Harry Belafonte did so many that I haven't heard. Love that one, Texas.

Well, this is a great one for Letty to sign off with, folks, and it matches the other two.

Homer and Jethro

Good morning, WA2K radio audience. Well, we signed off last evening with Wally Cox, Harry Belafonte, and Homer and Jethro. Let's sign on now with Charo, whose birthday is today.

First, a brief bio.

When Charo was quite young, she was discovered by famous musician Xavier Cugat, whom she later married on August 7, 1966, at the reported age of 15; Cugat was 66.

The couple were the first to have their nuptials in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

In 1977, she became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

On August 11, 1978 she re-married, this time to her manager Kjell Rasten, in Lake Tahoe. In 1982 she bore her only child, a son, Shel Rasten (who is a drummer with the metal band Treazen) and decided to move to Hawaii, where she regularly performed at the Outrigger Hotel and waited on customers at her restaurant on the island of Kauai.

Charo waited for her son to grow up before returning to Los Angeles to get back into show business full time.

Charo studied classical and flamenco guitar while residing in Murcia. As a result of her training and skill she has been named "Best Flamenco Guitarist" in Guitar Player Magazine's readers' poll. She now has a regular touring show in addition to appearances in Las Vegas shows regularly. One of Charo's regrets is that, because of her flamboyant stage presence, she has been overlooked as a guitar player.

She also donates her talents to Jerry Lewis' annual MDA telethon.

Since Ravel's Bolero has no lyrics, let's look at these, folks.

There are times
You live as if in a dream
Drawn by your heart to a distant door
One that opens
For a moment
To a world that you've never known before

Were you real
Or were you part of a dream
Calling to me from across the floor?
In your sweet voice
There was music
And we danced the bolero de amor

Let the drums carry us away!
They say all there is to say
And all too soon the night becomes the day
And magical - miracle

You are real
And we are living a dream
Sharing a love we have hungered for
Let your passion soar like music
In the spell of bolero de amor

Ensemble:
The drums carried us away
They said all there was to say
And all too soon the night became day
And magical-miracle

There are times
You live as if in a dream
Drawn by your heart to a distant door
Trust your heart and
Take the moment
When you hear
Your bolero de amor
Amor
Amor!

Too bad that Charo was never quite recognized for her musical ability.

Good morning, Raggedy. Great collage of celeb's today, PA. I just had to put another picture in our radio gallery, folks.

http://www.fest21.com/files/images/Palm%20Beach%20FF%20Gala%20Honorees_0.jpg

That's Margaret in red.

Here's an excerpt from my favorite speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. He must have sensed something, listeners.

"Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."

The last movie that I saw starring Lloyd Bridges was "Blown Away." Excellent.

Back later with more news and music.

here's a touching song by Elvis that has several allusions to Dr. King:

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear

We're lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We're trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah

honu, Welcome back, buddy. Yes, I see the allusions, big island man. Thanks for the reference by Elvis.

This is going to seem paranormal, folks, but I was looking for the spiritual Deep River and came across something far stranger.

M.D. I hope that you can help us with the general idea of the lyrics.

that's a lot of lyric to elucidate, but here's a snatch from the beginning:

Like connecting a dot to a dot
What the finger that draws the line touches
Is the path I have traveled or my destination
Joining line to line, the two of us
Because they all eventually reach the sea, becoming one
Unafraid, but
O many rivers flow
Without asking why
With their given names
O and to accept everything
You don't have to do this
Our pain has now flown away
That's why...
That's why I chose you

where's Satt? maybe he can do the next part Razz

alas, my cee pee U don't tube

reminds me of a Kenny Loggins tune (he even lives on the Big Island, i'm told) Embarrassed

Your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock and roll
Your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock and roll
When evening rolls around and it's time to go to town
Where do you go to rock and roll?

The old folks say that ya gotta end your date by ten
If you're out on a date and you bring it home late, it's a sin
There just ain't no excusin' and you know you're gonna lose and never win
I'll say it again

And it's all because
Your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock and roll
Your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock and roll
When evening rolls around and it's time to go to town
Where do you go, to rock and roll?

You pull into a drive-in and you find a place to park
You hop into the backseat where you know it's nice and dark
You're just about to move in and you're thinking it's a breeze
There's a light in your eye, and then a guy says,
"Out of the car, Longhair!
Louise, you're coming with me, Local Police!"
And it's all because
Your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock and roll
Your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock and roll
When evening rolls around, and it's time to go to town
Where do you go to rock and roll?
Where do you go to rock and roll?
Where do you go to rock and roll?

Love your Kenny Loggins song, and a lot of famous folks live in Hawaii, right?

Hears a river song by Seals and Croft, folks.

(lyrics by James Seals; music by James Seals & Dash Crofts, 1971)
From the album SUMMER BREEZE (1972).

Yesterday, I was born here. Tomorrow, I'll be gone.
They say there's a man now, down in Persia - down there.
Guess I'll walk, the Euphrates River.
The deep, deep river. The wide, wide river.
The long, long river. Spiritual river.
The river of life. The river of life.

Let the traces linger on. Many years have come and gone.
Oh how lonely man has been, without a trace of the Traceless Friend.

Everyday day, brings us closer. Every night, my soul sees
A worried mankind, suffering blindly.
Guess I'll walk, the Euphrates River.
The deep, deep river. The wide, wide river.
The long, long river. Spiritual river.
The river of life. The river of life.

So let the traces linger on. Many years have come and gone.
Oh how lonely man has been, without a trace of the Traceless Friend.

Yesterday, I was born here. Tomorrow, I'll be gone.
And so I'll walk, the Euphrates River.
The deep, deep river. The wide, wide river.
The long, long river. Spiritual river.
The river of life. The river of life.

Hey, edgar. Great one, buddy. Didn't know Elvis did Lawdy. Thanks for the reminder, Texas.

Talked to my daughter tonight, and remembered the CD that she gave me. It makes a perfect goodnight song for me.

Hello, yeah, it's been a while.
Not much, how 'bout you?
I'm not sure why I called,
I guess I really just wanted to talk to you.
And I was thinking maybe later on,
We could get together for a while.
It's been such a long time,
And I really do miss your smile.

I'm not talking 'bout moving in,
And I don't want to change your life.
But there's a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight.

We could go walking through a windy park,
Or take a drive along the beach.
Or stay at home and watch t.v.
You see, it really doesn't matter much to me.

I'm not talking 'bout moving in,
And I don't want to change your life.
But there's a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight.

I won't ask for promises,
So you won't have to lie.
We've both played that game before,
Say I love you, then say goodbye.

I'm not talking 'bout moving in,
And I don't want to change your life.
But there's a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight.

Good morning, WA2K radio folks.

edgar, I love that song by Lloyd so I took a quick look in the archives and found out that it was originally based on the song, Stack-a-Lee. Was also surprised to find out that the man got out of the music business after his partner was killed and relocated to Africa. Amazing what a little research can do, Texas.

Here's another that I like by Mr. Price, folks.

Over and over
I tried to prove my love to you
Over and over
What more can I do
Over and over
My friends say I´m a fool
But over and over
I´ll be a fool for you

'cause you got personality,
Walk, personality
Talk, Personality
Smile, Personality
Charm, personality
Love, personality
And of Cause you´ve got
A great big heart
So over and over
Oh, I´ll be a fool to you
Now over and over
What more can I do ?

Over and over
I said that I loved you
Over and over, honey
Now it´s the truth
Over and over
They still say I´m a fool
But Over and over
I´ll be a fool for you

Over and over
I tried to prove my love to you
Over and over
What more can I do
Over and over
My friends say I´m a fool
But over and over
I´ll be a fool for you

'cause you got personality,
Walk, personality
Talk, Personality
Smile, Personality
Charm, personality
Love, personality
And of Cause you´ve got
A great big heart
So over and over
Oh, I´ll be a fool to you
Now over and over
What more can I do ?

Over and over
I said that I loved you
Over and over, honey
Now it´s the truth
Over and over
They still say I´m a fool
But Over and over
I´ll be a fool for you

This may work for those of you who like to listen.

Good morning. Made me think of Bing and Johnny Mercer Very Happy

When Madam Pompadour was on a ballroom floor
Said all the gentlemen "Obviously,"
"The madam has the cutest personality"
And think of all the books about Du Barry's looks
What was it made her the toast of Paree?
She had a well-developed personality
(What did Romeo see in Juliet?)
(Or Figaro in Figarette?)
(Or Jupiter in Juno?)
You know!
And when Salome danced and had the boys entranced
No doubt it must have been easy to see
That she knew how to use her personality
(A girl can learn to spell and take dictation well)
(And never sit on the boss's left knee)
(Unless she's got a perfect personality)
(A girl can get somewhere in spite of stringy hair)
(Or even just a bit bowed at the knee)
(If she can show a faultless personality)
Why are certain girls offered certain things
Like sable coats and wedding rings?
By men who wear their spats right?
(That's right!)
(So don'tcha say "I'm smart and have the kindest heart"
(Or "what a wonderful sister I'd be")
Just tell me how you like my
Mercer> "Rufff!!
(Personality)
Baby, you've got the cutest
Personality!!

Love that one, Raggedy. Johnny Mercer is hard to beat, right?

Here's one along the same line by B.B.King, folks.

Ain't That Just Like A Woman

There was Adam, happy as a man could be
Till Eve got him messin' with that old apple tree

Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
They'll do it every time

Lot took his wife down to the corner for a malted
She wouldn't mind her business, boy, did she get salted

Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
Samson thought Delilah was on the square
Till one night she clipped him all his hair

Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
They'll do it every time

From our history books we all learned
Nero fiddled while Rome was burned

Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
They'll do it every time

Marie Antoinette met some hungry cats at the gate
They was crying for bread, she said, ";Let them eat cake";

Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
They'll do it every time

You can buy a woman clothes
And give her money on the side
No matter what you do
She ain't never satisfied
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
Ain't that just like a woman?
They'll do it every time
