Love it, hbg. And speaking of honey, honey. Razz

http://www.jazzscript.co.uk/images/LouisArmstrong.gif

Honeysuckle Rose

Ev'ry honeybee.... fills with jealousy
When they see you out with me
I don't blame them....goodness knows
Honeysuckle rose

When you're passin' by....flowers drop and sigh
And I know the reason why
You're much sweeter....goodness knows
Honeysuckle rose

Don't buy sugar....you just have to touch my cup
You're my sugar....it's so sweet when you stir it up

When I'm taking sips...from your tasty lips
Seems the honey fairly drips

[Honeysuckle Rose lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
You're confection.....goodness knows
Honeysuckle rose.

(instrumental break)

Don't buy sugar....you just have to touch my cup
You're my sugar....it's so sweet when you stir it up

When I'm taking sips...from your tasty lips
Seems the honey fairly drips
You're confection.....goodness knows
Honeysuckle rose.

I said you're confection.....goodness knows

http://obits.eons.com/obits/tributes/ray_charles/2169-1-photo.jpg

some sweet-talker he was Shocked Laughing

Quote:
They say, Ruby you're like a dream
Not always what you seem
And though my heart may break when I awake
Let it be so, I only know
Ruby, it's you

They say, Ruby you're like a song
You just don't know right from wrong
And in your eyes I see heartaches for me
Right from the start, who stole my heart?
Ruby, it's you

I hear your voice and I must come to you (must come to you)
I have no choice, so what else can I do ? (what else can I do?)

They say, Ruby you're like a flame
Into my life you came
And though I should beware, still I just don't care
You thrill me so, I only know
Ruby, it's you

(I hear your voice and I must come to you)
(I have no choice, what else can I do ?-what can I do?)

They say, Ruby you're like a flame
Into my life you came
And though I should beware, still I don't care
You thrill me so, I only know
Ruby, it's you

Don't blame me
For falling in love with you.
I'm under your spell
But how can I help it?
Don't blame me.

Can't you see
When you do the things you do
If I can't conceal
The thrill that I'm feeling,
Don't blame me.

I can't help it
If that doggone moon above
Makes me want
Someone like you to love.

Blame your kiss
As sweet as a kiss can be,
And blame all your charms
That melt in my arms,
But don't blame me.

(Interlude)

Blame your kiss
As sweet as a kiss can be,
And blame all your charms
That melt in my arms,
But don't blame me.

(Interlude)

Blame all your charms
That melt in my arms,
But don't blame me.

Kingston Trio

Ruby red. Ruby red.

Chorus:
Ruby red were her lips. Diamond pure was her heart. Emerald green (emerald green) were her eyes.
A priceless gem of perfection, but I lost her 'neath the sapphire sky. Ruby red, ruby red, ruby red.

I'd cross the wide Pacific and swim the China sea to have those lips of ruby red back here again with me.
Ruby red, ruby red, to have those lips of ruby red back here, again, with me.

(Chorus)

I thought I could forget, so I sailed away, but I lived to regret until this very day.
Ruby red, ruby red, to have those lips of ruby red back here, again, with me.

(Chorus)

Ruby red. Ruby red.

hbg, I know that song, but I can't remember why? Was it from a movie?

This song has been sung to wee ones for ages, folks.

KENTUCKY BABE
(Music by Adam Geibel / Lyrics by Richard Henry Buck, 1896)
Perry Como

Skeeters am a hummin'
on the honeysuckle vine
sleep Kentucky Babe!

Sandman am a comin'
to this little child of mine
sleep Kentucky Babe!

Silvery moon am a shinin'
on de heavens up above
bobolink am pinin' for his little lady love . . .

You is might lucky
Babe of old Kentucky
close your eyes in sleep . . .
and fly away,
fly away Kentucky Babe,
fly away to rest, fly away,
lay your cy woolly head
on your mammy's breast,
hmm, hmmm, edah la da da dee
close your eyes in sleep!

Oops, missed our edgar. He snuck those two in as I was going through the archives.

Love "Don't Blame Me". Sang that one, Texas. Thanks for the memory jog.

Don't know, Ruby Red, buddy, but I am certain our listeners enjoyed it.

What is all this bit about lips being ruby red and sweeter than honey?

We gals love au natural and that way there will be no tell tale traces. <smile>

Here's one done by many, including Hank Williams, Jr.

Wolverton Mountain

They say don't go on Wolverton Mountain,
If you're lookin' for a wife.
'Cause Clifton Clowers has a fair, young daughter;
He's mighty handy with a gun and knife.
Her tender lips are sweeter than honey,
And Wolverton Mountain protects her there;
The bears and the birds tell Clifton Clowers,
If a stranger should enter there.

All o' my dreams are on Wolverton Mounrain;
I want his daughter for my wife.
I'll take my chances and climb the Mountain,
Though Clifton Clowers might take my life.
Her tender lips are sweeter than honey,
And Wolverton Mountain protects her there;
The bears and the birds tell Clifton Clowers,
If a stranger should enter there.

I'm goin' up on Wolverton Mountain,
It's so lonesome down here below;
It's just not right to hide his daughter,
From the one who loves her so.
Her tender lips are sweeter than honey,
And Wolverton Mountain protects her there;
The bears and the birds tell Clifton Clowers,
If a stranger should enter there.

I don't care about Clifton Clowers;
I'm goin' to climb up on his mountain;
I'm goin' to take the one I love;
I don't care about Clifton Clowers.
I'm goin' to climb up on his mountain;
I don't care about....(repeating, fading away)..

Lost Together
Blue Rodeo

Strange and beautiful
are the stars tonight
that dance around your head
in your eyes I see that perfect world
I hope that doesn't sound too weird

And I want all the world to know
that your love's all I need
all that I need

And if we're lost
then we are lost together
yea if we're lost
then we are lost together

I stand before this faceless crowd
and I wonder why I bother
so much controlled by so few
stumbling from one disaster to another

I've heard it all so many times before
it's all a dream to me now
a dream to me now

And if we're lost
then we are lost together
yea if we're lost
then we are lost together

In this silence of this whispered night
I listen only to your breath
and that second of a shooting star
somehow it all makes sense

And I want all the world to know
that your love's all I need
all that I need

And if we're lost
then we are lost together
yea if we're lost
then we are lost together

Someone Who's Cool
The Odds

in natural selection
I've avoided all detection
and the tender bits underneath
all with window dressing
and calculated guessing
and a bark bigger than my teeth

It was the suit that got me the gig
It was the tear that got me the girl
I'm a sheep in this wolf's clothing
I'm a picture that I'm holding
of someone who is cool

soul like a thimble
swallowed up in symbols
wanting what I don't need
if sympathy's the answer
I'll have temporary cancer
but that's not what I'll have you believe

It was the suit that got me the gig
It was the tear that got me the girl
I'm a sheep in this wolf's clothing
I'm a picture that I'm holding
of someone who is cool
someone who is cool

close but kind of meatless
like actors who play Jesus
in movies of the week
What other people wish for
oozes from my every pore
I'm the coffee not the sleep

and I'm the song about the song
that once said something new
I'm a scandal that's unfolding
I'm a picture that I'm holding
of someone who is cool
someone who is cool

I'm An Adult Now
The Pursuit Of Happiness

Well, I don't hate my parents
I don't get drunk just to spite them
I've got my own reasons to drink now
Think I'll call my dad up and invite him

I can sleep in till noon anytime I want
Though there's not many days that I do
Gotta get up and take on that world
When your an adult it's no cliche it's the truth

'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now

I can't even look at young girls anymore
People will think I'm some kind of pervert
Adult sex is either boring or dirty
Young people they can get away with murder

I don't write songs about girls anymore
I have to write songs about women
No more boy meets girl boy loses girl
More like man tries to figure out what the hell went wrong

'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now

I can't take any more illicit drugs
I can't afford any artificial joy
I'd sure look like a fool dead in a ditch somewhere
With a mind full of chemicals
Like some cheese-eating high school boy

'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now

<guitar solo>

Sometimes my head hurts and sometimes my stomach hurts
And I guess it won't be long
Till I'm sitting in a room with a bunch
of people whose necks and backs are aching
Whose sight and hearing's failing
Who just can't seem to get it up

Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much loud music
I mean I like to play it, but I sure don't like the racket
Noise, but I can't hear anything
Just guitars screaming, screaming, screaming
Some guy screaming in a leather jacket

Wooah!

'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now

dj, welcome back. It's always good to hear your poetry in song. I especially appreciated "Lost Together", Canada, and it inspired my goodnight song by Ray Charles.

Alone together, beyond the crowd,
Above the world, we're not too proud
To cling together, We're strong
As long as we're together.

Alone together, the blinding rain
The starless night, was not in vain;
For we're together, and what is there
To fear together.

Our love is as deep as the sea,
Our love is as great as a love can be,
And we can weather the great unknown,
If we're alone together.

Goodnight, my friends

From Letty with love

Dear Letty,

Merry Andrew and I want to make a special request for you to play "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" for the San Francisco gathering of A2k Sunday.

The first day of the gathering was a total success and I am sure tomorrow will be even better.;

Oh, and we want to hear Tony Bennett since it was his signature song.

Good Morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

edgar, I've heard about a ding-a-ling but that's a first for a poor young boy's ting-a-ling. Thanks, Texas, for remembering Buddy Holly.

My goodness, folks, there's seaglass with a special request for all the San Francisco bunch that are having a wonderful time without us.

Okay, for seaglass, Merry Andrew, C.I. and his lovely wife, Mame, Calamity Jane, Francis, Roxxxane, Georgeob1, (hope I didn't miss anyone), and all those folks at the yacht club, here is Tony.

The loveliness of Paris
Seems somehow sadly gay
The glory that was Rome
Is of another day
I've been terribly alone
And forgotten in Manhattan
I'm going home to my city by the bay.

I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me.
To be where little cable cars
Climb halfway to the stars!
The morning fog may chill the air
I don't care!
My love waits there in San Francisco
Above the blue and windy sea
When I come home to you, San Francisco,
Your golden sun will shine for me!

Have a wonderful day on the bay and think of us here on WA2K.

Jim Davis (actor)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marlin "Jim" Davis (August 26, 1909 - April 26, 1981), was an American actor, best known for his role as Jock Ewing in the CBS prime-time soap Dallas, a role which he held up until his death in April 1981.

Birth name Marlin Jim Davis
Born August 26, 1909
Edgerton, Missouri, USA
Died April 26, 1981 (aged 71)
Northridge, California, USA
Years active 1942-1981
Spouse(s) Blanche Hammerer (1945-1981) (his death) 1 child (deceased)
Tara Diane (1953-70)

Biography

Born Marlin Davis in Edgerton, Missouri, he is remembered in film for portraying a senator in the Warren Beatty conspiracy thriller The Parallax View, although he is best remembered by most for playing the role of Jock Ewing on TV's Dallas.

Tragedy struck when his only child, daughter Tara Diane (1953-1970), was killed in a car crash at the age of sixteen. After years of roles in a large number of Western films, in 1978 he was given the part of family patriarch Jock Ewing in the Dallas TV series.

He died of complications of multiple myeloma after three seasons. Despite being diagnosed during Season 3, he continued to film the show as long as he could. In many scenes as that season progressed, he was seen seated, and was obviously wearing a wig and looked and sounded fatigued. A storyline regarding the Takapa development and his separation from Miss Ellie was ended abruptly, and the writers had the couple leave to go on an extended second honeymoon when it became obvious Davis could no longer continue to work.

Very popular with the audience, the show's writers made the decision not to write his death into the storyline right away. Initially, plans were made to replace him with another actor, but decided that because of audience awareness, his character was kept alive for a short time with the storyline that he was in South America drilling for oil. During the first part of the 1982 season, an episode featured his death in a helicopter crash. A portrait of Davis in his role as Jock Ewing often appeared as a memorial on Dallas after his death.

Davis, who had a close relationship with co-star Victoria Principal, had photographs of her and his daughter (who allegedly bore a strong resemblance to Principal) buried with him on the day of his funeral.

For his contribution to the television industry, Jim Davis has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6290 Hollywood Blvd.

Jim Davis is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California

Macaulay Culkin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Birth name Macaulay Carson Culkin

Years active 1988 - 1994, 2003 -present

Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy
Nominated
1991 Home Alone

Macaulay Carson Culkin (born August 26, 1980) is an American actor. He is best known for portraying Kevin McCallister in Home Alone and the title character of Richie Rich.

Biography

Early life

Culkin was born in New York City, New York to Christopher 'Kit' Culkin and Patricia Brentup. He was the couple's third child of seven children and he has four brothers Shane (b. 1976), Kieran (b. 1982), Christian (b. 1987) and Rory (b. 1989), and two sisters Dakota (b. 1979) and Quinn Culkin (b. 1984). Culkin is the nephew of actress Bonnie Bedelia, who is the sister of Kit Culkin.

During Culkin's early childhood, the family lived in a small apartment; his mother was a telephone operator and his father worked as a sacristan at a local Catholic church. His father was also a former stage actor with a long career on Broadway. Culkin was raised a Catholic and attended a Catholic school (St. Josephs) before moving on to Professional Children's School.

Culkin began acting at the age of four, appearing in a stage production of Bach Babies at the New York Philharmonic. He continued appearing in roles on stage, television, and in films throughout the 1980s.

Career

Culkin's rise to fame was kick-started, thanks to his lead role as Kevin McCallister in the blockbuster film Home Alone (1990), where he was reunited with Uncle Buck's writer and director John Hughes. He reprised the role of Kevin in the 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which was also a success. Around this time, Culkin struck a friendship with pop legend Michael Jackson, making an appearance in the Black or White music video. Culkin also starred in a Saturday morning cartoon, entitled Wish Kid and hosted Saturday Night Live in late 1991.

Despite the mega success of Home Alone and its sequel, other films Culkin acted in, such as The Good Son (which co-starred Elijah Wood and Culkin's sister, Quinn Culkin) and My Girl only did reasonably well, while Getting Even with Dad, Richie Rich and The Pagemaster were not blockbusters at the box office, but provided Culkin with the bulk of his personal fortune.

After all three films released in 1994 that Culkin starred in turned out to be box-office flops, he suddenly dropped out of acting. Many people believed that it was because of his becoming too old to play 'childish' roles, as was the popular stereotype about him at the time.

After a period of inactivity, Culkin returned to acting in 2000 with a starring role in the play Madame Melville. In the spring of 2003, he made a guest appearance on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace. His role as Karen Walker's immature divorce lawyer won him favorable reviews.

Culkin headed back into motion pictures in 2003 with Party Monster, where he played fallen party promoter Michael Alig. His role in the film received much publicity thanks to the real-life Alig's drug addiction. Though not a huge hit, Party Monster developed a cult following and helped to restart his career.

In 2004, Culkin starred in Saved!, alongside Jena Malone, Mandy Moore and Eva Amurri. In the film, he played a student who uses a wheelchair in a conservative Christian high school. Though Saved! only had modest success at the box office, Culkin received many positive reviews for his role in the film.

Culkin also recently started a career in voice over, with his appearances on Seth Green's Robot Chicken. In 2006, he published an experimental, semi-autobiographical novel, Junior.

Culkin stars in Sex and Breakfast, a dark comedy written and directed by Miles Brandman, according to Variety. Alexis Dziena, Kuno Becker and Eliza Dushku also star in this story of a couple whose therapist recommends group sex to them. Shooting for the film, Culkin's first since Saved!, took place in September of 2006 and it is slated for release some time in 2008.

Culkin was in the music video for Sunday, by Sonic Youth.

Private life

When Culkin was fourteen years old, his parents had a custody battle. His father had been Culkin's manager.

He was married to Rachel Miner from 1998-2000.

In 2004, Culkin was arrested, briefly jailed and arraigned in court in Oklahoma for possession of marijuana (17.3g), a municipal charge of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance - Xanax (16mg) and Clonazepam (32mg). His extensive trial (15 October 2004 - 09 June 2005) saw him initially plead not guilty but later reverse his plea to guilty. His lawyers reached a plea bargain with the state of Oklahoma and he received three 1-year suspended prison terms, a probationary drug treatment program and a $540 fine.

In 2005, Culkin testified on behalf of Michael Jackson's defense during the pop singer's child molestation trial. On the stand, he said that he had never been molested by Jackson, and said that he felt that the charges against Jackson were outrageous.

He is the godfather of two of Michael Jackson's children, Prince Michael and Paris.

Culkin has been dating actress Mila Kunis since 2002. It has been rumored since early 2006 that they are planning to be wed. [1]

According to the DVD commentary of the Family Guy movie (during the third part in which Kunis was a commentator), Kunis claims that one of the reasons her boyfriend likes her is because of her role on Family Guy; Culkin is a big fan of the show.

Culkin was ranked # 2 in VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Kid Stars".

Culkin is noted as an avid professional wrestling fan and can be seen at WWE pay-per-view WrestleMania VII as a spectator.

He attended the New York screening of Fahrenheit 9/11 with his girlfriend Mila Kunis on 14 June 2004.

Good morning, hawkman. My, my, Bio Bob, the birthdays are scarce today, but we do appreciate your blonde one liners. Thanks again and hope yours and Nairs' Sunday is a bright one.

I am certain our Raggedy will be along shortly with a duo, and since there doesn't seem to be too many songs available for our two celebs, let's hope that all will enjoy James Brown and feel the way that he does.

Whoa-oa-oa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would, now
So good, so good, I got you

Whoa! I feel nice, like sugar and spice
I feel nice, like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

{ sax, two licks to bridge }

When I hold you in my arms
I know that I can't do no wrong
and when I hold you in my arms
My love won't do you no harm

and I feel nice, like sugar and spice
I feel nice, like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

{ sax, two licks to bridge }

When I hold you in my arms
I know that I can't do no wrong
and when I hold you in my arms
My love can't do me no harm

and I feel nice, like sugar and spice
I feel nice, like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

Whoa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would

So good, so good, I got you
