Well, dys, just discovered Townes Van Zandt. Too much too soon? Hard to tell, folks.

This song probably says more than we care to hear, listeners.

The folks, they just can't take no more
Throw you in the back seat, slam the door
No stoppin' as down the road you go
Go not time to lose

Gigantic one way gate ahead
You're thinkin' man I'd as soon be dead
They decided to give you life instead
The sanitarium blues

Big ole nurse all dressed in white
Slaps you on a table in the middle of the night
Then he straps you down real tight
You're wonderin', what'd I do?

They hose you down, make sure you're clean
Wrap you up in hospital green
Shoot you full of Thorazine
The sanitarium blues

Could be TB or maybe a tumor
Eavesdropping on the doctors, listening to the rumors
Can't see your friends, hear the hum of the wheels
Hey my man, you know how it feels
Like the sanitarium blues

Then upon some sunlit day
They figure there's no need for you to stay
They're pretty sure you can't be cured
So they send you on your merry way

You hit the pavement, hang around
Nobody's on the outside to be found
You're just tryin' to stay above the ground
You start to thinkin', what's the use?
The sanitarium blues

Money and prestige simply didn't hack it, right?

they were singin this in Kona yesterday Cool

`Auhea wale `oe e ku`u aloha `eâ
Ne`ene`e mai `oe, ne`ene`e mai `oe
A pili pono

Kakona ka `i`ini me ka mana`o
Lalawa a ninihi, lalawe a ninihi
He ma`û ia.

Ha`a mai nâ hene ua noe luna `eâ
Waiho kâhela, waiho kâhela
Luhe i ka wai.

He kai nehe mai i ka `ae one `eâ
I ka pâ honehone, i ka pâ honehone
Hone i ka poli

I ku`u aloha e hone mai `oe `eâ
Pipili a mamau, pipili a mamau
A hô`i`o.

Ha`ina ku`u li`a po`ina `ole
Ke aloha i pili `ia, ke aloha i pili `ia
I ka pu`uwai.

Hea aku no wau e ô mai `oe `eâ
Ali`i `Iolani, Ali`i `Iolani
Nou ke kahua

Now listen my love
Snuggle up, snuggle up
Till you're good and close

Desire throbs at the thought
Being carried away to the brink
Is better than nothing

Misty rain from above comes down the slopes
Lying spread out, lying spread out
Drooping with water

It's a sea lapping on the soft sand
With a sound so appealing
Appealing to the heart

Oh my love, tease me gently
Cling close as always
As if you take this seriously

This tells of my unforgettable desire
The love that is held fast
In the heart

I call out, oh answer
Noble Iolani, noble Iolani
In your honor, this theme

Hey, M.D. That was truly a lovely island song. Incidentally, I got a strange message from MSN on our studio computer. It had to do with having inserted the wrong key code on the c.d. Weird, no? Bet you can cure it, however. Razz

Remembering this one, folks. Our Raggedy will like it better by Bing.

CHRIS ISAAK Song Lyrics

Sweet Leilani
(From the album "BAJA SESSIONS")

Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower oh.
I dreamt of paradise for two. (My lovely Leilani)
You are my paradise completed. (My lovely Leilani)
You are my dream come true.

Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower oh,
Tropic skies are jealous while they shine. (My lovely Leilani)
I think they're jealous of your blue eyes. (My lovely Leilani)
Jealous because you're mine.

I think they're jealous of your blue eyes. (My lovely Leilani)
Jealous because you're mine.

Sweet Leilani, heavenly flower oh,
Nature's fashion roses kissed with dew. (My lovely Leilani)
And then she placed them in a bower. (My lovely Leilani)
It was the start of you.
My lovely Lei-lan-i.

wouldn't bet if i were you. strange indeed that when my mouse moves over the double underlined MSN there's a popup. Shocked key code sounds like your computer wanted to install something from a CD-ROM. if it happens again, please try to remember the exact sequence of operations that produced the message. Razz

Remember, M.D.? Doesn't the sequence of events have something to do with algebra? UhOh.

Speaking of UhOh, folks. Thinking of Jimmy Rodgers who, incidentally, is still alive.

Uh-oh, I'm falling in love again, uh-oh, uh-oh

Many's the time I've been two-timed
Many's the time I've been stung
Many a honey took all of my money, but
That was when I was much younger.

Made up my mind to be careful
Made up my mind to beware
I was alright until until Saturday night
I met a girl with the goldenest hair.

CHORUS:
Uh-oh, I'm falling in love again, uh-oh
I thought I'd never get caught again
Never in a hundred, never in a thousand,
Never in a million years,
Never in a million years

She had the bluest of blue eyes
She had the cherriest lips
Shouldn't have have kissed her
I tried to resist her but
One kiss, and I was a goner

I couldn't run if I'd wanted
I couldn't run if I tried
Saw what I liked
And I liked what I saw
And my heart went along for the ride.

(CHORUS)

This was my fav by Jimmy Rogers:

Some day some old familiar rain will come along and know my name.
And then my shelter will be gone and I'll have to move along.
But 'till I do I'll stay awhile and track the hidden country of your smile.

Some day the man I use to be will come along and call on me.
And then because I'm just a man, you'll find my feet are made of sand.
But 'till that time I'll tell you lies and chart the hidden bound'ries of your eyes.

Some day the world I use to know will come along and bid me go.
Then I'll be leaving you behind for love is just a state of mind.
But 'till that day I'll be your man and love away your troubles if I can.
And 'till that day I'll be your man and love away your troubles if I can.

Hey, edgar. Just found out there is another Jimmie Rodgers, and he sings about brakemen on the railroad.

Now I know where this song originated, folks. Although this version is from the movie, O Brother Where Art thou, it must have been first done by the Jimmie that lives in edgar's neck of the woods.

I had a friend named Ramblin' Bob
Who used to steal gamble and rob
He thought he was the smartest guy in town
But I found out last Monday
That Bob got locked up Sunday
They've got him in the jailhouse way down town
He's in the jailhouse now he's in the jailhouse now
I told him once or twice quit playin' cards and shootin' dice
He's in the jailhouse now

Yodel...

He played a game called poker pinoccle with Dan Yoker
But shooting dice was his greatest game
Now he's downtown in jail nobody to go his bail
The judge done said that he refused a fine
He's in the jailhouse now he's in the jailhouse now
I told him once or twice quit playin' cards and shootin' dice
He's in the jailhouse now

I went out last Tuesday met a gal named Susie
Told her I was the swellest guy around
We started to spend my money
Then she started to call me honey
We took in every cabaret in town
We're in the jailhouse now
We're in the jailhouse now
I told the judge right to his face
We didn't like to see this place
We're in the jailhouse now

Yodel...

I was told my father's favorite song was by the father of country music, Jimmy Rodgers. It is called Pistol Packin Papa. I searched for the lyrics, but finally gave up.

Well, folks, it's time for me to say goodnight. I have made another discovery and it has been a wonderful surprise.

I discovered that Johnny Mathis has an extremely enchanting voice. He also lives in a mansion originally built by Howard Hughes. The fact that he is gay bought him some troubles early on, but that is only a testament to his endurance.

I want you with me all the time:
Sunrise and sunset and all the time.
You are the one love I have waited for;
Had we just begun, love,
Could I love you more?

Warm as the May wine, wild as the sea,
These are the feelings you waken in me.
I've had my moments and a dream or two.
But I needed someone all the time
And all the time it was you.

(Instrumental interlude and pick up.)

Warm as the May wine, wild as the sea,
These are the feelings you waken in me.
I've had my moments and a dream or two.
But I needed someone all the time
And all the time it was you.

For those who wish to listen:

Goodnight all.

The day that Greta Johnson
Socked it to the Harper Valley PTA
Ben Colder (Sheb Wooley)

Order, order
I'll have a cheeseburger
And a bottle of beer

Seriously, boy
I would like to address this meeting
Of the Harper Valley AA, PTA
Hi there, Bobby Taylor
You son of a gun

I was just strolling
Along the street tonight
On my way to Kelly's bar
And I saw your sign outside
That said PTA

I thought that meant party time already
So here I am and I'm having a lot of fun
You bunch of so goods

Mr. Baker, Widow Brown, Shirley baby
Mr. Peyton and distinguished guests
You bunch of son of a guns

Hey, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson
You say old Bobby Taylor's sitting there
And seven times he asked you for a date
Well shuckins, Hang right in there, Bobby
She'll probably come around if you just wait

And I can tell you why Mr. Baker's
Secretary up and left the town
She was expecting to get a lot better job
With Brown and Brown in another town

Mrs. Johnson, do you
Happen to be a grass widow
That makes you a Johnson grass widow

Mrs. Johnson has posed the question
Should Widow Brown be told to pull
Her window shades completely down
To pull or not to pull
That is the question

I'm gonna leave it to a vote
Now how do you vote (no)
You bunch of son of a guns
I think you made a wise choice
It beats watching TV

Now that brings us up
To Shirley Thompson's breath
Perhaps I shouldn't have brought that up
Tell the green phantom

All right, you're all
Really a bunch of swingers
And I've sure have had myself
A lot of fun

Yeah, this is just a little Peyton Place
And you're all Harper Valley son of a guns
And this is just a little Peyton Place
And you're all Harper Valley son of a guns

Johnny Mathis gay? i had no idea. he doesn't exactly sound like Johnny Cash, but still. i have to admit i have a weakness for his rendition of

Maria
The most beautiful sound I ever heard
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria
All the beautiful sounds of the world
In a single word
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria
Maria, Maria
Maria
I just met a girl named Maria
And suddenly that name
Will never be the same to me
Maria,
I just kissed a girl named Maria
And suddenly I found
How wonderful a sound can be
Maria,
Say it loud and there's music playing
Say it soft and it's almost like praying
Maria
I'll never stop saying
Maria

Say it loud and there's music playing
Say it soft and it's almost like praying
Maria
I'll never stop saying
Maria
The most beautiful sound I ever heard
Maria

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

edgar, that parody on Harper Valley PTA was fantastic. Thanks, Texas.

Hey, M.D. I had no idea that Johnny did that lovely song from West Side Story. Thanks my erstwhile turtle teller, nor did I know that another Johnny Mathis existed. My word, we learn a lot on our little cyber radio.

How about something from Peggy Lee this morning, folks.

IT'S A GOOD DAY
Peggy Lee

Yes, it's a good day for singin' a song,
And it's a good day for movin' along;
Yes, it's a good day, how could anything go wrong,
A good day from mornin' till night.

Yes, it's a good day for shinin' your shoes,
And it's a good day for losin' the blues;
Ev'rything to gain and nothin' to lose,
'Cause it's a good day from mornin' till night.

I said to the sun, "good mornin', sun.
Rise and shine, today"
You know you've gotta get goin'
If you're gonna make a showin'
And you know you've got the right of way

'Cause it's a good day for payin' your bills;
And it's a good day for curin' your ills,
So take a deep breath and throw away your pills;
'Cause it's a good day from mornin' till night.

yes letty...It's a Great Day To Be Alive-

I got rice cooking in the microwave
Got a three day beard I don't plan to shave
And it's a goofy thing but I just gotta say
Hey, I'm doing alright
Yeah I think I'll make me some homemade soup
Feelin' pretty good and that's the truth
It's neither drink nor drug induced
No, I'm just doin' alright

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin' when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

Well I might go get me a new tatoo or
Take my old Harley for a three day cruise
Might even grow me a fu man chu

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin' when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

Great song, Panz. I noticed that there is not one breath of wind here, and that is most unusual.

How about this song, folks.

ento hitotsu no muken no sora to e miguri ao mono yo
Tabidachi no kodo doete kuru taro uminari no you ni

Tatoe kanatare sono te ni suru mono ga
mune no oku no kizuda toshi demo

Kaze wa tsubasa ni noru
Hikari, tatakai ra wo sora ni yobi
Tsubasa wakatte iru no, yami wo uchi kudaki

Kaze wa tsubasa ni noru
Hoshi mo ginga mo ugoki yuku
Tsubasa wa kaze ni noru
Nemuri wo samashite

Haruka e kaze wa yuku mono

English translation

You are to come across, the thousand one unlimited skys
You can hear the heart-beat of the new journey, like the rumbling of the sea

Even though it's far away
Even though you'll be wounded deep in your heart

The wind rides on wings
The Light, it calls the battle to the sky
The Wings already understand, breaking down the darkness

The wind rides on wings
The stars and the galaxy are moving
Wings ride on the wind
Awakening from the deepest sleep

Far away, the wind goes far away.

It has rained here every day, for at least a month, and more forecast all week ahead. I look forward to the hot dry days, when one begins to wish it would rain every day for at least a month.

edgar, I've been keeping an eye on Texas flooding, buddy. Didn't I see something about high water in Miami? Noticing that Kansas has gotten its share as well.

Last evening, folks, Elton John and the princes did a memorial concert for Princess Diana. Among the performers was Duran Duran.

This song was dedicated to the royal pair.

Wild boys, wild boys, wild boys, wild boys
Wild (wild) boys (boys, boys)
The wild boys are calling on there way back from the fire
In August moon's surrender to a dust cloud on the rise
Wild boys fallen far from glory reckless and so hungered
On the razors edge you trail because there's murder (murder, murder)
By the roadside in a sore afraid new world
They tried to break us looks like they'll try again

Wild boys (wild boys) never lose it wild boys (wild boys) never chose this way
Wild boys (wild boys) never close your eyes wild boys always shine

You got sirens for their welcome there's bloodstain for your pain
And your telephone been ringing while you're dancing in the rain
Wild boys wonder where is glory where is all you angels
Now the figureheads have fell (fell, fell) And lovers war with arrows over secrets they could tell
They tried to tame you looks like they'll try again

Wild boys (wild boys) never lose it wild boys (wild boys) never chose this way
Wild boys (wild boys) never close your eyes wild boys always shine

Wild boys wild boys wild boys wild boys wild boys wild boys wild boys

Wild boys (wild boys) never lose it wild boys (wild boys) never chose this way
Wild boys (wild boys) never close your eyes wild boys always
(Wild boys, wild boys) never lose it (wild boys, wild boys) never chose this way
Wild boys (wild boys) never close your eyes wild boys always
Wild boys (wild boys) never lose it wild boys (wild boys) never chose this way
Wild boys (wild boys) never close your eyes widl boys always wild boys (wild boys)

Odd, isn't it, panz. Well, I don't know this group, folks, but it seems appropriate for us Floridians.

PFR

Born in a dry season
Wind and sand have blown through me
Haven't found shade anywhere
Only moments of relief
But sometimes I think I hear the thunder
Somewhere on the horizon line
If i could just find a way to get under
The rain that can reach this soul of mine

(chorus)
I pray for rain to come
And wash away what's made me numb
I pray for a ragging storm
To drown what's in me
And the rain comes in the nick of time
I swallow hard cause my throat's been dry
The rain comes beating on my skin
Till I'm washed away - nothing left within
When the rain comes
Your rain comes

Seasons have passed so quickly
Since I felt that first big storm
Still there have been times of drought
When i've prayed for the clouds to form
And I often hear the thunder
And I know of its coming rain
Many times in my life I'll kneel under
The moving showers that brought this change

(chorus 2x)
