The brillant barrister F. E. Smith once defended a bus driver against claims that his negligence had caused injury to a young man's arm: "Will you please show us how high you can lift your arm now?" Smith asked the plaintiff. The young man obediently raised his arm to shoulder level, his face contorted with apparent pain. "Thank you," said Smith. "And now, please, will you show us how high you could lift it before the accident?" The man's arm shot above his head.

Well, hawkman, we see that your bio's are over and I am certain that clever barrister won his case. Thanks, Boston, for the background on the celeb's.

Once again, we shall await our Raggedy. I do hope all is well with her, folks.

Rex, your highway song was a strange reminder to what I witnessed as I drove along A1A today.

They lay along the blighted road,
Their matted fur and damp abode.
No hand to carry them inside
Where once the warmth within them
Sighed contentment.

One head was pointed to the west
The other's to the ocean's crest
A silent testament to all the worst
And best within us lies.

Today I shed unwanted tears
For those wet bodies
and my fears.

Good Morning WA2K. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to be here yesterday and do wish to thank Letty for filling in for me with such a great photo of Jude Law.
(Hey, if I'm not more diligent, I'm liable to lose my position as celebrity photographer here. Very Happy )

Today's gallery additions: Jo Van Fleet; Jack Lord; Russ Tamblyn and Fred Ward.

Well, Thank goodness, folks, there's our Raggedy. Lose your job, PA? Better that than lose you.

Well, there's Jo, Jack, Russ, and Fred. Quite a quartet, but two are dead. Razz

How about a song for one that is still with us, and that would be Fred:

Artist: Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyrics
Song: Sweet Home Alabama Lyrics

Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

In Birmingham they love the governor
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama

Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Sweet home Alabama
Oh sweet home baby
Where the skies are so blue
And the governor's true
Sweet Home Alabama
Lordy
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Yea, yea Montgomery's got the answer

today's celeb Bo Diddley is still the man Cool

Now when I was a little boy,
At the age of five,
I had somethin' in my pocket,
Keep a lot of folks alive.

Now I'm a man,
Made twenty-one,
You know baby,
We can have a lot of fun.

I'm a man,
I spell m-a-n...man.

All you pretty women,
Stand in line,
I can make love to you baby,
In an hour's time.

I'm a man,
I spell m-a-n...man.

I goin' back down,
To kansas to
Bring back the second cousin,
Little john the conqueroo.

I'm a man,
I spell m-a-n...man.

The line I shoot,
Will never miss,
The way I make love to 'em,
They can't resist.

I'm a man,
I spell m-a-n...man.

You're funny today, and I like the way you play, Turtle. Just don't cross the road on A1A or you will end up in the ocean wearing suntan lotion, or another kind of shell.

Well, no songs for the celeb, Russ, but here's one for our Ragman and Cyracuz:

I once had a girl
Or should I say she once had me
She showed me her room
Isn't it good Norwegian wood?

She asked me to stay
And she told me to sit anywhere
So I looked around
And I noticed there wasn't a chair

I sat on a rug biding my time
drinking her wine
We talked until two and then she said
"it's time for bed"

She told me she worked
in the morning and started to laugh
I told her I didn't
and crawled off to sleep in the bath

And when I awoke I was alone
This bird had flown
So I lit a fire
Isn't it good Norwegian wood?

Hmmm. Who did that originally? T'was not the Beatles.

Russ did that one, edgar? What a surprise, Texas. Now you made me wonder about this one:

Artist: Journey Lyrics
Song: RAISED ON RADIO

Stagger lee, can you do the locomotion
Lucille I hear you knocking but you can't come in
Rockin' robin, c.c rider,
A rama lama ding dong
Let the good times roll
My sweet sixteen
I'm maybelline

The great pretender
Returned to sender
I wonder why fools fall in love
Yeah, louie, louie, loves drive-in movies.
Johnny angel rocks around the clock

Mister d.j. make a dedication
Cause I'm all shook up over peggy sue
I'm mister blue,
The hits keep rockin' station to station
In the midnight hour in the sea of love
My turtle dove.
When I found my thrill, on blue berry hill,
We wrote love letters in the sand.
Be bop a lu la,
She loved me tender.
Jungle lion sleeps tonight

Radio, radio
We're all raised on radio, radio
I love my radio
Radio, radio,
Radio, radio

Wow! Thanks, Raggedy. I had no idea about all those references; still, I keep hearing a woman's voice. I wonder if Peter, Paul, and Mary did that as well?

Well, someone who knows, told me that it was the year of the pigs, so until our resident photographer and researcher can help us in our search, let's hear one from the porkers:

We're three little pigs,
Sitting in our houses,
The best houses around.

We're three little pigs,
Sitting safe and sound
In our houses made of
straw and sticks and bricks.

But then one very bad day,
A big bad wolf came to town
And he blew (whew!),
Blew (whew!),
Blew (whew!),
Blew (whew!),
The stick and straw houses down!

We're three little pigs
Sitting in our house,
So glad it's made of bricks!

To my knowledge, Russ Tamblyn never sang. He did appear in the movie, High School Confidential. Jerry Lee Lewis did the title song.

I wasn't certain, edgar. Well, that is what our little cyber radio is for, folks.

It's not just music, it's more.

and for that "more"

Harry Connick Jr.

More
Than the greatest love the world
Has known,

This is the love I'll give to you alone.

More
Than the simple words
I've tried to say,

I'll only live to love you
More each day

More than you'll ever know,
My arms long to hold you so
My life will be in your keepin,'
Walkin'... sleepin'... laughin'... weepin.'

Longer than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever,
You'll be mine

I know I've never lived before,
And my heart is very sure
No one else could love you more.

shortest new year's song i could find :

Ding Dong
Diggy Diggy Dong,
Diggidy Dong
The year it's gone Laughing

watched a great show for the last two hours .
it was the 2005 new year's eve concert from the refurbished venice opera house - what splendour !
lorin maazel was the conductor , the orchestra and choir were splendid and some young , fresh voices sang some beautiful opera .
it was a treat .
i think i might watch a peter sellers movie - unless i've seen it before ;
in that case i'll walk in and out of the living room  .

The Deserter
Pukka Orchestra

(spoken)
The Deserter, a recitation by the Pukka Orchestra

Im sorry i done it Major
We bandaged the livid face
And led him out
Ere the wan sun rose
To die his death of disgrace
The boltheads locked to the cartridge
The rifles steady to rest
As cold stock nestled at colder cheek
And foresight lined on the breast
Fire, called the Seargent-Major
The muzzles flamed as he spoke
And the shameless soul
Of a nameless man
Went up in the cordite smoke

Might As Well Be On Mars
Pukka Orchestra

Sunday morning with the New York Times
The sun is shining in my penthouse suite
My lady love's laying out some lines
They reach from Copa Beach to Easy Street

Before the mirror you apply your cream
Cosmetic secrets of eternal youth
There's something the matter, it's just a bad dream
I knew you'd leave me if you knew the truth.

I might as well be on Mars
I might as well be on Mars
Only the stars mean anything to you
I might as well be on Mars
I might as well be on Mars
I'm already that far away from you.

We lead such a sweet existence
But I'm reaching out to you in vain
You're disappearing in the distance
Of this alien terrain.

Of this alien terain

Sunday morning with the New York Times
The sun is shining in my penthouse suite
My lady love's laying out some lines
Miami Beach to Easy Street.

Monday night, another day goes by
Your voice keeps telling me that life is sweet
I watch your star flash into the sky
And fall to earth again on Easy Street.

I might as well be on Mars
I might as well be on Mars
Only the stars mean anything to you
I might as well be on Mars
I might as well be on Mars
I'm already that far away from you.

I'm already that far away from you.

I'm already that far away from you.

While I was searching everywhere for Larin Maazel's Don Giovanni's minuet, our dj comes in with Pukka orchestra music. You Canucks are foils for each other. Love it!

Our celebration is not until tomorrow evening, but I better get myself ready for it and go to bed a mite early.

The Spaniels?

Goodnight, sweetheart
Well,it's time to go
Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
I hate to leave you, but I really must say
Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight

Well it's three o'clock in the mornin'
Baby, I just can't do right
Well, I hate to leave you, baby
I don't mean maybe
Because I love you so

Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
I hate to leave you, but I really must say
Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight

Mother, and, oh, your father
Won't like it if we stay out too late
Well, I hate to leave you, baby
Don't mean maybe
You know I hate to go

Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
I hate to leave you, but I really must say
Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight

[ sing to fade ]
Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
Goodnight, sweetheart
Well, it's time to go
I hate to leave you, but I really must say
Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight

You are all sweethearts here.

from Letty with love
