Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

Well, folks. It seems that our edgar did a couple of Sally songs so let's do one to match Sally going around the roses:

Orlando Brown

I've got a song I ain't got no melody
How'm I gonna sing it with my friends
I've got a song I ain't got no melody
How'm I gonna sing it with my friends
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
I've got a lil' story ain't got no moral
Let the bad guy win every once in a while
I've got a lil' story ain't got no moral
Let the bad guy win every once in a while
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
I've got a lil' dance ain't got no steps
I'm gonna let the music move me around
I've got a dance I ain't got no steps
I'm gonna let the music move me around
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
I've got a song I ain't got no melody
How'm I gonna sing it with my friends
I've got a song I ain't got no melody
How'm I gonna sing it with my friends
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky
Will it go round in circles
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky

Good morning. I would like to ask; who is theĀ…

HURDY GURDY MAN
Donovan lyrics

Thrown like a star in my vast sleep
I open my eyes to take a peep
To find that I was by the sea
Gazing with tranquillity.
'Twas then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Histories of ages past
Unenlightened shadows cast
Down through all eternity
The crying of humanity.
'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Comes singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Here comes the roly poly man and he's singing songs of love,
Roly poly, roly poly, roly poly, poly he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang,
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang

Ah, there's the hurdy gurdy man again. Thanks, Try.

From the Beach Boys:

Under The Boardwalk

When the sun beats down and burns the tar upon the roof
And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be.

Under the boardwalk - out of the sun
Under the boardwalk - we'll be having some fun
Under the boardwalk - people walking above
Under the boardwalk - we'll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk - Boardwalk.

From the park you hear the happy sound of the carousel
And you can almost taste the hot dogs and french fries they sell
Under the boardwalk, down the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be.

Mr. Turtle. Welcome back. Did you know that Hank Williams did that song?

The French lyrics are great, M.D.

Here's another cajun song, folks:

In the evening, in the shadows,
I'll be waiting, in Louisi- an - a,
And when I hear your sweet voice,
I'll rejoice, I'll be happy,
And saving my kisses for you.
Jole Blon, Cajun Angel,
Let me tell you how I love you,
In the springtime you promised,
That we would be married,
And I'm waiting, still waiting for you.
Oh - - ho - - ho, ah - - ha - - ha.
When your hair turns to silver,
I'll still call you, Delta Flower,
Pretty Blond I still love you,
I love you I promise,
And I'm patiently waiting for you.
Oh - - ho - - ho, ah - - ha - - ha.

Well, edgar. We won't mess with your toot toot, and Chuck Berry says:

When I was a little bitty boy
my grandmother bought me a cute little toy
Silver bells hangin' on a string
she told me it was my ding a ling

My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling
My ding a ling, my ding a ling
I want to play with my ding a ling

And then mother took me to Grammer School
But I stopped all in the vestibule
Every time that bell would ring
catched me playin' with my ding a ling

Once I was climbing the garden wall
I slipped and had a terrible fall
I fell so hard I heard bells ring
but held on to my ding a ling

Once I was swimming cross Turtle creek
many snappers all around my feet
Shure was hard swimming cross that thing
with both hands holdin' my ding a ling

This here song it aint so sad
the cutest little song you ever had
those of you who will not sing
You must be playin' with your own ding a ling
My ding a ling

Your ding a ling, your ding a ling
We saw you playin' with your ding a ling
My ding a ling everybody sing
I want to play with my ding a ling

Hope our hawkman is just on a brief respite.

THE PLATTERS
"My Dream"
(Buck Ram)

My Dream
Is a wondrous dream
It's the answer too
Wanting only you

My Dream
Is a true delight
My escape at night
From a world that's blue

The world we know
Seems so far away
And where we go
Is for us to say

My Dream
Is a wealth of joy
No one can destroy
When I dream my dream
It's no common dream
It's a wondrous dream
Dream...

Well, Texas. You read my mind again:

Platters
My Prayer

When the twilight is gone and no songbirds are singing
When the twilight is gone you come into my heart
And here in my heart you will stay while I pray

My prayer is to linger with you
At the end of the day in a dream that's divine
My prayer is a rapture in bloom
With the world far away and your lips close to mine
Tonight while our hearts are aglow
Oh tell me the words that I'm longing to know
My prayer and the answer you give
May they still be the same for as long as we live
That you'll always be there at the end of my prayer

I am, I am

Who am I
Who are you
What are we trying to do
What is within
How do we begin
Is loving you a sin?

Yet the spirit is stronger
And it lives in me longer
I am known, as I know
I am shown, as I show
I find myself flying,
Soaring above the clouds

I am, I am
You are, you are
We are only one
When we are what we are
It's not what is seen
But what is within
I am, I am

The world is a mirror
That shines itself on us
But what is inside
Cannot be denied
This illusion is
Not what we are

We follow along
To end up leaders
We stop and wonder,
We have to look back
We have to be more,
A spirit, a star

I am, I am
You are, you are
We are only one
When we are what we are
It's not what is seen
But what is within
I am, I am

Truth cannot be broken
Yet truth is seldom spoken
The course is never seen
The wise forget to dream
The sleepers seldom awaken
The lost and lonely are forsaken

I am, I am
You are, you are
We are only one
When we are what we are
It's not what is seen
But what is within
I am, I am

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

Rex, we wondered where you were, buddy. That is a lovely original, and thanks, Maine, for playing it.

Heard this last evening right before I feel asleep, and had forgotten how lovely the melody is, so let's give a listen:

NINA SIMONE

Falling in Love Again (Can't Help It)
(From the album "WITH STRINGS")

Sammy Lerner, Frederick Hollander

Falling in love again I never wanted to
What am I to do I can't help it
Love has always been my game play it how I may
I was made that way I can't help it

Men cluster to me like moths around a flame
And if their wings burn I know I'm not to blame
Falling in love again I never wanted to
What am I to do I can't help it

Men cluster to me like moths around a flame
And if their wings burn I know I'm not to blame
Falling in love again I never wanted to
What am I to do I can't help it

What mistaken ideas people have about Chicago, listeners, including Letty.

While searching the archives, I found this song about The St. Valentine Day's Massacre, and noted the errors as well.

Artist: Paper Lace

Song: The Night Chicago Died Lyrics

In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still

When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
With the forces of the law

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed

And the sound of the battle rang
Through the streets of the old east side
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang
Had surrendered up or died

There was shouting in the street
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
Bout a hundred cops are dead

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be!

I heard my mama cry
I heard her pray the night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed

And ther was no sound at all
But the clock upon the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my mama's face
And he brushed her tears away

The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed

The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night it really was
Brother what a fight it really was
Glory be

The night Chicago died
The night Chicago died
Brother what a night the people saw
Brother what a fight the people saw
Yes indeed

Daddy was a cop, on the east side of Chicago
Many believe that there is no "east side" of Chicago, and that the aforementioned cop must have patrolled Lake Michigan. In reality, the east side of Chicago is an isolated enclave at the extreme southern end of Chicago along the border with Indiana. It is far removed from areas of the near South Side and North Side where Capone conducted his business transactions, making it unlikely that said cop would have become involved in large-scale gangland warfare. Many of the discrepancies in the song can be attributed to the fact that the songwriters do not hail from Chicago, but from England, and admitted in interviews - most notably on Beat Club shortly after the song's release - that they have never even been to the city itself; their sole knowledge of the city and that period of its history being based on gangster films. The other gangsters did not "Surrender up or die", Capone was convicted of income tax evasion and for having weapons in his apartment. When Paper Lace sent this song to Chicago mayor Richard Daley, he was not impressed, shunning the fictionalized story, saying that the group was nuts.

He died at the age of 89 in North Hollywood, California.

Diane Ladd
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Diane Ladd (born November 29, 1942 in Meridian, Mississippi) is an American television and film actress. She was born Rose Diane Lanier and raised Catholic. She is a distant relation of the playwright Tennessee Williams.

She had a supporting role in Roman Polański's 1974 film Chinatown, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role as Flo in the film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. That film inspired the TV series Alice in which Flo was portrayed by Polly Holliday. When Holliday left Alice, Ladd was cast in the show as Flo's replacement, waitress Isabelle "Belle" Dupree. Despite her success in the film version, Ladd's role in the television spinoff proved unpopular with viewers of the series and she appeared for only the 1980-1981 season. In 2004, Ladd played psychic Mrs. Druse in Stephen King's miniseries Kingdom Hospital. In April 2006, Diane Ladd released her first book entitled: Spiraling Through The School Of Life : A Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Discovery.

Ladd was formerly married to Bruce Dern and is the mother of film actress Laura Dern, with whom she co-starred in the films Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose. She also received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for both of those films. Ladd is now married to Robert Charles Hunter.
