Hey, edgar. Amazing, no? Are we still declaring that synchronicity means coincidence?

The great depression brought out a lot of good and a lot of bad, methinks.

Hey, Where's that pup with pictures? She ought to be in pictures, right listeners?

Well, our Raggedy must have some problems today, but I will do my best to tack a new photo of Bo on our bulletin board, folks.

http://www.boderek.com/miscjpg/Bo_AMC_01.jpg

and believe it or not, there are some words to Ravel's Bolero.

-Artist: Patti Page as sung on "Remembering the 50's and 60's"
-peak Billboard position # 1 for 5 weeks in 1950
- English words by Mitchell Parish, French words by Henri Contet
- Music by Paul Durand, based on Ravel's "Bolero"

All my love, I give you all my love
The skies may fall, my love
But I will still be true
All my sighs, will disappear at last
Now that you're here at last
My heart belongs to you

Ohhhhhhhhh ooh, never let me go
You thrill me so
I can see as I recall my life
I've waited all my life
To give you all my love

Ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay, ay

Bow, caballero, and tip your sombrero
To your señorita, the lovely Chiquita
Waiting so long for you and your song
While you are playing her heart will be swaying
She will surrender her kisses so tender
To you she will cling the moment that you sing

All my love, I give you all my love
The skies may fall, my love
But I will still be true
All my sighs will disappear at last
Now that you're here at last my heart belongs to you

Ohhhhhhhhh ooh, never let me go
You thrill me so
I can see as I recall my life
I've waited all my life
To give you all my love

Ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay, ay
FADE
Ay, ay, ay

Hmmm. Those words simply do not fit the meter.

There's a Place in the Sun
Stevie Wonder

Like a long lonely stream
I keep runnin' toward a dream
Movin' on, movin' on
Like a branch on a tree
I keep reachin' to be free
Movin' on, movin' on.

'Cause there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run.
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun.

Like an old dusty road
I get weary from the load.
Movin' on, movin' on
Like this tired troubled earth
I've been rollin' since my birth
Movin' on, movin' on

'Cause there's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run.
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun.

I know I have posted this song in the past but It's a fav of mine;

We are riding on a railroad, singing some elses song
Forever standing by the cross road. take a side and step along.
We are sailing away on a river to the sea. maybe you an me can meet again.
We are riding on a railroad, singing someone elses song sing along.

Time to time I tire of the life that Ive been leading
Town to town, day by day
Theres a man up here who claims to have his hands upon the reins.
There are chains upon his hands and hes riding upon a train.

We are riding on a railroad, singing some elses song
Forever standing by the cross road. take a side and step along.
We are sailing away on a river to the sea. maybe you an me can meet again.
We are riding on a railroad, singing someone elses song.

and this one as well;

Riding on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders,
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail.
All along the southbound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms and fields.
Passin' trains that have no names,
Freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles.

CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car.
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor.
And the sons of pullman porters
And the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel.
Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel.

CHORUS

Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.
And all the towns and people seem
To fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news.
The conductor sings his song again,
The passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.

Good night, America, how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

and finally;

out on the sea, there is an island

out on the sea, there is a place

out on the sea there's a wave

with the power to save

all the sailors from the dark and the deep

we used to dance in the shadows

under the moon's pale light

away from home and all alone

turning away into the night

and she would shine like a diamond

trapped in a clear crystal ring

and the tears in my eyes

were the stars in the sky

fading away when she would sing

out on the sea, there is an island

out on the sea, there is a place

out on the sea there's a wave

with the power to save

all the sailors from the dark and the deep

Good morning, ed and dys how are 'ya. <smile>

And another good day to all our WA2K radio fans and contributors.

Thanks, Texas, for Stevie. He's a wonder, no?

Dys, love the line, "...singing someone else's song.."

Did some research on the following train song and found it to be a myth created by hobos. Very interesting, listeners.

Lyrics as performed by country band The Carter Family in their 1929 recording.

Verse:

Out from the wide Pacific to the broad Atlantic shore
She climbs the flowery mountains, over hills and by the shore
Although she's tall and handsome and she's known quite well by all
She's a regular combination, the Wabash Cannonball.
Verse:

Oh the Eastern states are dandy, so the Western people say
Chicago, Rock Island, St. Louis by the way
To the lakes of Minnesota where the rippling waters fall
No chances to be taken on the Wabash Cannonball.
Chorus:

Oh, listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar
As she glides along the woodland, over hills and by the shore
She climbs the flowery mountains, hear the merry hobo squall
As she glides along the woodland, the Wabash Cannonball.
Verse:

Oh, here's old daddy Cleaton, let his name forever be
And long be remembered in the courts of Tennessee
For he is a good old rounder 'til the curtain round him fall
He'll be carried back to victory on the Wabash Cannonball.
Verse:

I have rode the I.C. Limited, also the Royal Blue
Across the Eastern counties on Elkhorn Number Two
I have rode these highball trains from coast to coast that's all
But I have found no equal to the Wabash Cannonball.
Chorus:

Oh, listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar
As she glides along the woodland, over hills and by the shore
She climbs the flowery mountains, hear the merry hobo squall
As she glides along the woodland, the Wabash Cannonball.

Walk On The Wild Side
Lou Reed lyrics

Holly came from Miami, F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the USA
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
She says, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
Hey honey
Take a walk on the wild side

Candy came from out on the Island
In the backroom she was everybody's darlin'
But she never lost her head
Even when she was giving head
She says, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
I Said, Hey baby
Take a walk on the wild side
And the coloured girls go
doo do doo do doo do do doo..

Little Joe never once gave it away
Everybody had to pay and pay
A hustle here and a hustle there
New York City's the place where they say,
Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said, Hey Joe
Take a walk on the wild side

Sugar Plum Fairy came and hit the streets
Lookin' for soul food and a place to eat
Went to the Apollo
You should've seen em go go go
They said, Hey shuga Take a walk on the wild side
I Said, Hey babe
Take a walk on the wild side
All right, huh

Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was James Dean for a day
Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that bash
Said, Hey babe,
Take a walk on the wild side
I said, Hey honey,
Take a walk on the wild side
and the coloured girls say,
doo do doo do doo do do doo

Walk on the Wild Side
Brook Benton

Sinner, hear what I'm sayin'
Sinner, you've been swingin', not prayin'
One day of prayin' and six nights of fun
The odds against goin' to heaven, six-to-one

You walk on the wild side, the Devil is waitin'
He's waitin' to take your hand
You walk on the wild side, you're walkin' with Satan
Away from the Promised Land
One day of prayin' and six nights of fun
The odds against going to heaven, six-to-one

You better cross over, you better walk humble or you're gonna stumble
And Satan is waitin' to take your hand
You walk on the wild side, you walk on the wild side
Away from the Promised Land
One day of prayin' and six nights of fun
The odds against going to heaven, six-to-one

The odds against going to heaven six-to-one

Well, folks. Somewhere my song and comments got lost between Try and edgar. Something about "page cannot be displayed."

Ok, Try. Let's try again, shall we? That was one wild walk, buddy. Wonder if Lou Reed plays clarinet? There's an Oliver Reed and a Kubla Kahn. Ah, now I remember. I was thinking about inflatable bridges and the famous Oliver Kahn. <smile>

well, well, edgar. Love Brook Benton, buddy. Speaking of "wild", let's play this one again:

Artist: The Troggs Lyrics
Song: Wild Thing Lyrics
Wild thing...you make my heart sing...
You make everything
Groovy
I said wild thing...

Wild thing, I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
Come on, hold me tight
I love you

Wild thing...you make my heart sing...
You make everything
Groovy
I said wild thing...

Wild thing, I think you move me
But I wanna know for sure
So come on, hold me tight
You move me

Ah, there's our Raggedy. Glad to see you back, PA. Wonderful photo's today, gal.

Wonder if anyone tap dances any more? Well, folks, there's Eleanor, and Marlo, and Goldie, and Harold.

Quite a quartet, no? Speaking of quartets let's hear a song for all those exotic places:

Beach Boys---Kokomo
John Phillips/Mike Love/Terry Melcher/McKenzie

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go
Jamaica

Off the Florida Keys
There's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go to get away from it all

Bodies in the sand
Tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love
To the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

To Martinique, that Montserrat mystique

We'll put out to sea
And we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity

Afternoon delight
Cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye
Give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

Port Au Prince I wanna catch a glimpse

Everybody knows
A little place like Kokomo
Now if you wanna go
And get away from it all
Go down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to Kokomo
We'll get there fast
And then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go
Way down to Kokomo

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego baby why don't we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to Kokomo

Incidentally, I see where our president is taking a trip to Hawaii. Razz

Great Day
Barbra Streisand

When you're down and out
Lift up your head and shout
There's gonna be a great day
Angels in the sky
Promise that be by and by
There's gonna be a great day
Gabriel will warn you
Some early morn
You will hear his horn
It's not far away
Lift up your head and say
There's gonna be a great day
Great day

When you're down and out
Lift up your head en shout
There's gonna be a great day
Angels in the sky
Promise that by en by
We're gonna see a great day
Gabriel will warn you
Somebody born
You will hear his horn, his horn
It's not far away
Lift up your head and say
There's gonna be a great day
When the skies went darker, oh lord!
Came noah's ark, oh lord!
Amen and amen!
Amen and amen!

He came in january, february, march, april, may, june
July, and august, september october, november,
De de december
It was a great day
It was a great day
One of those great days
And on judgment day
If you believe he will receive you and me
Gabriel will warn you
Some early morn
You will his horn, his horn
It's not far away
Lift up your head and say
There's gonna be a great
We're gonna see a great
There's gonna be,
Be a great day.

Ok, Texas. I am going to see if I can match that one with Tony Bennett:

Sing, You Sinners
(featuring: John Legend)

All you sinners drop everything
Everything
Let the melody and the harmony ring
Let it ring
Lift arms up to Heaven and sing
Ring-a-ding
Sing you sinners woncha sway n' swing
What a thing

Start with clappin' y'hands all about
All about
Don't be silent - Let the Lord hear y'shout
Shout it out
And jus' let the music come out
Of yr snout
Sing you sinners woncha sway n' swing
Check it out
(Dig the drift of what I mean)

In a world where there's no music
(Old Scratch)
Satan gets his kicks
(He's up to his tricks)
He'll be laughing up and down the banks
(Hee, hee, hee)
Of that river Styx

You're so wicked baby, and you're depraved
You can rave
It's apparent that you have misbehaved
To your grave
But if you should wanna be saved
Jus' behave
Take a listen now to the bird...

Stop all that chewin' yer cud - and all that standin' in the mud there
Swing people! Swing every chortle from yer mortal portal
I dig that everyone believes that all cattle prodigies
Are like a sneeze
Hard blowin'-missin one lick of blowin' talent to show

(If y'sing - y' gotta swing!)

But remember that the day will come when you
Will be just steak on a plate
(Folks, y'know it's fate)
So dig the music of the swing-o-sphere -
(before your swing arrives too late)

That's a little too dark
Still, it's true - we've got breath for such a limited time
What are ya, stupid, ya cows?? - you'd think to sing was a crime

In defense now; hence now; Here's comes Adele McCluck:

Mrs. Mockingbird, I must say you haven't heard
The friendly bellowing swing of our friends the cows -
As they shed their way from Teagarden to Fuller
Instead of spendin' ev'ry day jus' sneakin' around
To life another lick -
These cats work on their cow-tone, so when they get up to blow
They blow a fatter bone-tone into the ozone

(And furthermore...)

You tweety-birds are always singin' away
Never givin' up thought of what you say
We cows do - shedding takes up most of our day
So when we start and settle in to play - we can say
A moo is an array of what we've always known to be
The best and only way to play

(What we mean to say is...)

Before the band will letcha sing
(Sing with Fletcher Henderson)
You've got to get y'self to swing
(Like the Bean or Satch)
So your horn can blow - a single note or two
Of deeper thinking
(That's the way to swing)
So set your mind upon a tone
(When you're shedding all alone)
And you will have a cornerstone
(Like the bass trombone)
Blow your horn and take a bow
So that you're swinging like the cows
Pythagoras would be so proud of us

Laughing

This from a lady who died this week. The song is from 1955.

AS LONG AS I'M MOVING
(Charles Calhoun)
RUTH BROWN

You're crazy 'bout lovin', I'm crazy 'bout love myself
You're crazy 'bout lovin', I'm crazy 'bout love myself
When I'm with you baby, can't think about nothin' else

I've seen so many men, it's like looking through a fine tooth comb
I've seen so many men, it's like looking through a fine tooth comb
But these young cats 'll make a good girl lose her home

[Chorus]
I wanna go north, east, south, west
Every which way, as long as I'm movin'
Long as I'm movin', long as I'm movin'
Long as I'm movin', long as I'm movin' baby, I don't care

You got big broad shoulders, build like a trailer truck
You got big broad shoulders, build like a trailer truck
Let me run with you daddy and maybe I'll change my luck
I gotta watch myself, these boys are gettin' out of hand
I gotta watch myself, these boys are gettin' out of hand
They get twelve years old, start acting like a natural man

[Chorus]
I wanna go north, east, south, west
Every which way, as long as I'm movin'
Long as I'm movin', long as I'm movin'
Long as I'm movin', long as I'm movin' baby, I don't care
Move, move, move, move!

Well it must be rat, because mink don't feel that way
Well it must be rat, because mink don't feel that way
Well don't you talk that talk, don't believe a thing you say

[Chorus]
I wanna go north, east, south, west
Every which way, as long as I'm movin'
Long as I'm movin', long as I'm movin'
Long as I'm movin', long as I'm movin' baby...
I don't care!

Well, edgar. Thanks for her legacy in song. Great lyrics, Texas.

Well, folks, it is COLD here right now 'cause that old North wind is blowin'

From Tom Waits:

Shiver Me Timbers

I'm leavin' my fam'ly
Leavin' all my friends
My body's at home
But my heart's in the wind
Where the clouds are like headlines
On a new front page sky
My tears are salt water
And the moon's full and high

And I know Martin Eden's
Gonna be proud of me
And many before me
Who've been called by the sea
To be up in the crow's nest
Singin' my say
Shiver me Timbers
'Cause I'm a-sailin' away

And the fog's liftin'
And the sand's shiftin'
I'm driftin' on out
Ol' Captain Ahab
He ain't got nothin' on me, now.
So swallow me, don't follow me
I'm trav'lin' alone
Blue water's my daughter
'n I'm gonna skip like a stone

So please call my missus
Gotta tell her not to cry
'Cause my goodbye is written
By the moon in the sky
Hey and nobody knows me
I can't fathom my stayin'
Shiver me timbers
'Cause I'm a-sailin' away

And the fog's liftin'
And the sand's shiftin'
I'm driftin' on out
Ol' Captain Ahab
He ain't got nothin' on me
So come and swallow me, follow me
I'm trav'lin' alone
Blue water's my daughter
'n I'm gonna skip like a stone

And I'm leavin' my family
Leavin' all my friends
My body's at home
But my heart's in the wind
Where the clouds are like headlines
Upon a new front page sky
And shiver me timbers
'Cause I'm a-sailin' away

This was the title song to Mifnight Cowboy, but only because Dylan was late with Lay Lady Lay.

Harry Nilsson - Everybody's Talkin'

Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind

People stopping staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes

I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Thru' the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Backing off of the North East wind
Sailing on summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone

Ah, edgar. How long ago we talked about that background, budd. I think I was going to bed and said, "Lay Letty Lay; lay upon your king sized bed."

Then all was revealed by our Raggedy. Thanks for that memory,Texas.

http://www.agirlsworld.com/rachel/hangin-with/pix/hanson.gif

Found this wind song by that interesting trio, listeners:

Hangin' with Hanson

Won't deny everything can't last
But it's closing in so fast
Thought that I'd figured it out at last
But you can't change the past
And it's closing in so fast

Feels just like we're dancing in the wind
Feeling just alright
When we're dancing in the wind
We can dance all night

Just don't walk away
When I've got you in my arms tonight
And I've got something to say
There are still rules to break
And this music is a place to hide
Isn't it just a game we play

Feels just like we're dancing in the wind
Feeling just alright
When we're dancing in the wind
We can dance all night
We can dance all night
We can dance all night
When we're dancing in the wind
We can dance all night

Feels just like we're dancing in the wind
Feeling just alright
When we're dancing in the wind
We can dance all night
We can dance all night
We can dance all night
When we're dancing in the wind
We can dance all night
We can dance all night
We can dance all night
When we're dancing in the wind
We can dance all night

You can dance-every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye,let him hold you tight
You can smile-every smile for the man
Who held your hand neath the pale moon light
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me

Oh I know that the music's fine
Like sparklin' wine,go and have your fun
Laugh and sing, but while we're apart
Don't give your heart to anyone
But don't forget who's takin' you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darlin' save the last dance for me

Baby don't you know I love you so
Can't you feel it when we touch
I will never never let you go
I love you oh so much

You can dance,go and carry on
Till the night is gone
And it's time to go
If he asks if you're all alone
Can he walk you home, you must tell him no
'Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me

'Cause don't forget who's taking you home
And in whose arms you're gonna be
So darling, save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me
Save the last dance for me.
