Well, Try, glad you played Simon cause it gives me an opportunity to combine music and poetry, buddy.

They say that Richard Cory owns one half of this whole town,
With political connections to spread his wealth around.
Born into society, a banker's only child,
He had everything a man could want: power, grace, and style.

But I work in his factory
And I curse the life I'm living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory.

The papers print his picture almost everywhere he goes:
Richard Cory at the opera, Richard Cory at a show.
And the rumor of his parties and the orgies on his yacht!
Oh, he surely must be happy with everything he's got.

But I work in his factory
And I curse the life I'm living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory.

He freely gave to charity, he had the common touch,
And they were grateful for his patronage and thanked him very much,
So my mind was filled with wonder when the evening headlines read:
"Richard Cory went home last night and put a bullet through his head."

But I work in his factory
And I curse the life I'm living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory.

Good morning WA2K listeners and contributors. I noticed that farmerman was lamenting the death of Maynard Furguson today, so let's hear a lovely jazz ballad by him:

All about Ronnie,
There so much to tell.
All about Ronnie,
I know him so well.

His magical fingers,
That thrill to embrace,
His whispers that linger,
Caressing your face.

All about Ronnie,
Best told in a toast.
Let me propose it,
He's my favorite host.

We'll drink from dry glasses,
There's no need for wine,
The champagne is Ronnie,
And Ronnie is mine.

Good morning radio land, this is…

Magic
Pilot Lyrics

Oh, ho, ho it's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so
It's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so.

Never been awake
Never seen a day break
Leaning on my pillow in the morning
Lazy day in bed
Music in my head
Crazy music playing in the morning light.

Oh, ho, ho it's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so
It's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so.

I love my sunny day
Dream of far away
Dreaming on my pillow in the morning
Never been awake
Never seen a day break
Leaning on my pillow in the morning light.

Oh, ho, ho it's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so
It's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so.

Oh, ho, ho it's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so
It's magic, you know
Never believe it's not so.

Good morning to you, Try. Glad you played that song by pilot, 'cause we may need a good one to weather tropical storm Ernesto that is now threatening the Caribbean. Rolling Eyes

I guess we need to be.............

Riders on the storm

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet family will die
Killer on the road, yeah

Girl you gotta love your man
Girl you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah

Wow!

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm

Miss Ann
(Enotris Johnson, Richard Penniman)

Oh, oh, oh, miss Ann, you're doin' something no-one can,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, miss Ann, you're doin' something no-one can,
Because believin' and deceivin', it's drivin' me to grievin' now.

I wanna hear, hear, hear miss Ann, I wanna hear her call my name,
I wanna hear, hear, hear miss Ann, I wanna hear her call my name,
Because she keep callin' loud, but she calls it so sweet and so plain.

Well, I told miss Ann once, and I told miss Ann twice,
Yes, I told miss Ann once, and I told miss Ann twice,
Boys, when I'm with miss Ann, I'm livin' in paradise.

If she thinks I'm gonna let her be free, how wrong can miss Ann be,
If she thinks I'm gonna let her be free, how wrong can miss Ann be,
I'm in love with miss Ann, and that's the way it's gonna be.

Little Richard

I don't even know Gus, it was…

Me And Mrs. Jones
Billy Paul Lyrics

Me and Mrs. Jones
We got a thing going on
We both know that it's wrong, but it's much too strong
To let it grow now

We meet every day at the same cafe, six-thirty
I know, I know she'll be there
Holding hands, making all kinds of plans
While the jukebox plays our favorite song

Me and Mrs.
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
We got a thing going on
We both know that it's wrong, but it's much too strong
To let it grow now

We gotta be extra careful
That we don't build our hopes up too high
'Cause she's got her own obligations
And so, and so, do I

Me and Mrs.
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
We've got a thing going on
We both know that it's wrong, but it's much too strong
To let it grow now

Well it's time for us to be leaving
It hurts so much, it hurts so much inside
Now she'll go her way and I'll go mine
Tomorrow we'll meet the same place, the same time

Me and Mrs.
Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
Got a thing going on

We gotta be extra careful
We can't afford to build, our hopes up too high
I wanna meet and talk with you
At the same place, the same cafe, the same time
And we're gonna hold hands like we used to
We're gonna talk it over, talk it over
We know, they know, and you know and I know that it was wrong
But I think it's strong
We gotta let 'em know now
That we gotta thing goin' on, a thing goin' on

But, Try. Mrs. Jones?

Robbie Williams
» Have You Met Miss Jones

Have you met Miss Jones
Someone said as we shook hands
She was just Miss Jones to me

Then I said Miss Jones
You're a girl who understands
I'm a man who must be free.

And all at once I lost my breath
And all at once was scared to death
And all at once I own the earth and sky

Now I met Miss Jones
And well keep on meeting till we die
Miss Jones and I

And all at once I lost my breath
And all at once was scared to death
And all at once I own the earth and sky

Now I met Miss Jones
And well keep on meeting till we die
Miss Jones and I
Miss Jones and I

Miss Jones and I

Well, folks, here's one of my wonderful songs inspired by the travel forum:

CHAKA KHAN Song Lyrics

And The Melody Still Lingers On (Night In Tunisia)
(From the album "WHAT CHA' GONNA DO FOR ME")

A long time ago in the 40's
Dizzy and Bird gave us this song
They called it ";A Night In Tunisia";
And the melody still lingers on

It was new and very strange
Blew the squares right off the stage
Few could play along
But the melody still lingers on

Max and Miles to name just two
Together they grew
The music was young and strong
And the melody still lingers on

They paved the way for generations
From Coltrane to Stevie
No one could stop the winds of change
Without them where'd we be?

The Duke and the Prez were there before
The past you can't ignore
The torch is lit, we'll keep the flame
And the melody remains the same

In the 40's
A night in tunisia
In the 40's
A night in tunisia
In the 40's
A night in tunisia
In the 40's
A night in tunisia

My word, edgar. Where is Hoyt Axton today, I wonder. Great song, Texas. Speaking of great men, folks. George Shearing is now 89 years old and still performing. What a pianist.

Speaking of wondering, where are Bob and Raggedy? I know that our Dutchy is having big problems with with his ISP, because there has been a disruption and he cannot get into our wee studio.

Well, folks, I just found out that Hoyt Axton is dead. I could not believe his problems, nor could I believe that he wrote the song, Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog. Shocked

Time for a station break:

First rising to prominence as a songwriter, Hoyt Axton carved out successful careers as a singer and actor as well; rooted equally in country, folk and pop, his gravelly

baritone and wry, earthy songs projected an uncommon wit, warmth, and optimism, yielding a consistently engaging body of work extending across four decades. Axton was born March 25, 1938 in Duncan, OK, the son of a naval officer and his English teacher wife. Raised primarily in Jacksonville, FL, he studied classical piano as a child before switching to guitar, writing his first songs at 15. Despite the musical impact of his mother, Mae Boren Axton -- the co-author of Elvis Presley's landmark 1956 chart-topper "Heartbreak Hotel" -- he initially pursued a career in athletics, attending Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship before serving a stint in the navy. From there Axton relocated to San Francisco, performing at local folk clubs and in 1962 writing his first hit, the Kingston Trio's "Greenback Dollar." Later that year he issued his first album, The Balladeer, a live effort recorded at the Hollywood nightspot the Troubadour; a concurrent appearance on the television western Bonanza also launched his acting career.

Axton resurfaced in 1963 with Thunder 'N Lightnin', followed later that year by Saturday's Child; around that same time one of his best friends suffered a fatal drug overdose, inspiring his song "The Pusher," a hit for the rock band Steppenwolf subsequently included on the soundtrack to the film Easy Rider. Despite his success as a songwriter, Axton's performing career failed to catch fire, and after 1965's Sings Bessie Smith he was without a recording contract for several years before signing to Columbia in 1969 to issue My Griffin Is Gone. While opening for Three Dog Night in support of the album, the band heard his composition "Joy to the World" -- their recording of the song topped the pop charts in the spring of 1971 -- and early the following year they returned to the Top Ten with Axton's "Never Been to Spain." He signed to A&M to release 1973's Less Than the Song; the follow-up, Life Machine, launched two of his biggest solo hits, the lovely "When the Morning Comes" (a duet with Linda Ronstadt) and "Boney Fingers." In 1975, Ringo Starr also notched a Top Three smash with Axton's "The No No Song."

Following the much-acclaimed 1977 album Snowblind Friend, Axton completed his deal with MCA with the release of Free Sailin'; he then formed his own label, Jeremiah Records, and with 1979's A Rusty Old Halo scored his biggest solo hit with the classic "Della and the Dealer." In the wake of appearances on dozens of television series including I Dream of Jeannie and McCloud, he landed his first major film work that same year in the acclaimed family drama The Black Stallion; Axton's subsequent movie roles included co-starring appearances in projects including 1983's Heart Like a Wheel, 1984's Gremlins, and 1989's We're No Angels. After 1982's Pistol Packin' Mama, Jeremiah folded, and Axton was noticeably absent from recording until issuing the comeback album Spin of the Wheel in 1990. The LP was Axton's last major new release, however, and in 1996 he suffered a stroke; his health continued to decline, and after a series of heart attacks he died October 26, 1999 at the age of 61. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Good afternoon. I just looked at the list of today's birthdays and the only entertainment person I recognized was Macaulay Caulkin which, of course, doesn't mean that the others aren't recognizable. Laughing

Macaulay Carson Culkin (born August 26, 1980) is an American actor. In the early 1990s, he was among the most famous child actors in Hollywood.

Early life
Culkin was born in New York City, New York to Christopher 'Kit' Culkin and Patricia Brentup; his aunt is actress Bonnie Bedelia, and his siblings are Christian, Kieran, Rory, Shane, Dakota and Quinn Culkin. During his early years, the family lived in a small apartment; his mother was a telephone operator and his Irish American father worked as a sacristan at a local Catholic church. Culkin was raised a Catholic and attended a Catholic school (St. Josephs) before moving on to Professional Children's School (NYC).

Culkin began acting at the age of 4, appearing in a stage production of Bach Babies at the New York Philharmonic. He continued appearing in roles on stage and television, and in film, throughout the 1980s.

Career
Culkin's rise to fame was kick-started, thanks to his lead role as Kevin in the blockbuster film Home Alone (1990). He reprised the role of Kevin in the 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which was also a success. Around this time, Culkin struck a friendship with pop legend Michael Jackson and starred in a Saturday morning cartoon, entitled Wish Kid.

Despite the mega success of Home Alone and its sequel, and Culkin's outstanding star power, other films he acted in, such as The Good Son (which co-starred Elijah Wood) and My Girl only did reasonably well, while Getting Even with Dad and Richie Rich bombed at the box office, but provided Culkin with the bulk of his personal fortune.

After all three of the films released in 1994 that he starred in, turned out to be box-office disasters, Culkin suddenly dropped out of acting. Many people believed that it was because of his becoming too old to play 'childish' roles, as was the popular stereotype about him at the time. After a period of inactivity, Culkin returned to acting in 2000 with a starring role in the play Madame Melville. In the spring of 2003, he made a guest appearance on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace. His role as Karen Walker's immature divorce lawyer won him favorable reviews.

Culkin headed back into motion pictures in 2003 with Party Monster, where he played fallen party promoter Michael Alig. His role in the film received much publicity thanks to the real-life Alig's drug addiction. Though not a huge hit, Party Monster developed a cult following, as well as showing that Culkin had grown into a mature actor outside his past success.

In 2004, Culkin starred in Saved!, alongside Jena Malone, Mandy Moore and Eva Amurri. In the film, he played a student who was a wheelchair-user in a conservative Christian high school. Though Saved! only had modest success at the box office, Culkin received many positive reviews for his role in the film.

Culkin also recently started a career in voice over, with his appearances on Seth Green's Robot Chicken. In 2006, he published an experimental, semi-autobiographical novel, Junior.

Culkin will star in "Sex and Breakfast," a dark comedy written and directed by Miles Brandman reports Variety. Alexis Dziena, Kuno Becker and Eliza Dushku also star in the story of a couple whose therapist recommends group sex to them. Shooting has just begun on the film, Culkin's first since 2004's Saved!.

Private life
When Culkin was fourteen years old, his parents had a custody battle. His father had been Culkin's manager, and was widely known for being the stereotypically-aggressive 'showbiz parent'.

Culkin married actress Rachel Miner on June 21, 1998. They were divorced on August 5, 2000. In 2004, Culkin was arrested in Oklahoma after police discovered marijuana and prescription Xanax pills inside his vehicle, during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 44. He received a suspended sentence. [1]

Also in 2005, Culkin testified on behalf of Michael Jackson's defense during the pop singer's child molestation trial. On the stand, he denied that he had ever been molested by Jackson, and said that he felt that the charges against Jackson were outrageous. Some credit Culkin's testimony with Jackson's eventual acquittal.

Culkin recently returned from a vacation in Israel with current girlriend Mila Kunis in the wake of military turmoil there.

Well, well, folks. There's our Raggedy. Thanks, PA. Yes, we know that little brat and perhaps a big brat today.

I saw Home Alone, and I think I saw other movies that he made, but I will have to check it out. In the interim, here is a song about the original Jacob's Ladder:

traditional, additional lyrics by Pete Seeger

We are climbing Jacob's ladder
We are climbing Jacob's ladder
We are climbing Jacob's ladder
Brothers, sisters, all

Every rung goes higher and higher
Every rung goes higher and higher
Every rung goes higher and higher
Brothers, sisters, all

We are dancing Sarah's circle
We are dancing Sarah's circle
We are dancing Sarah's circle
Sisters, brothers, all

Every round a generation
Every round a generation
Every round a generation
Sisters, brothers, all

We are climbing Jacob's ladder
We are climbing Jacob's ladder
We are climbing Jacob's ladder
Brothers, sisters, all

Is it too late to catch the…

Midnight Train To Georgia
Gladys Knight & The Pips Lyrics

L.A. proved too much for the man
So he's leavin' the life he's come to know
He said he's goin' back to find what's left of his world
The world he left behind not so long ago

He's leavin' on that midnight train to Georgia
Said he's goin' back to find the simpler place and time
I'll be with him on that midnight train to Georgia
I'd rather live in his world than live without him in mine

He kept dreamin' that someday he'd be a star
But he sho' found out the hard way that dreams don't always come true
So he's pawned all his hopes and he even sold his own car
Bought a one-way ticket back to the life he once knew

Said he's leavin' on that midnight train to Georgia
Said he's goin' back to find the simpler place and time
I'm gonna be with him on that midnight train to Georgia
I'd rather live in his world than live without him in mine

Oh he's leavin' on the midnight train to Georgia
Said he's goin' back to find the simpler place and time
I've got to be with him on that midnight train to Georgia
I'd rather live in his world than live without him in mine

All aboard, all aboard, all aboard
On the midnight train to Georgia
I got to go

Well, Try. It's never too late to catch the midnight special, buddy.

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL Song Lyrics

The Midnight Special
(From the album "WILLY AND THE POORBOYS")

Well, you wake up in the mornin', you hear the work bell ring,
And they march you to the table to see the same old thing.
Ain't no food upon the table, and no pork up in the pan.
But you better not complain, boy, you get in trouble with the man.

CHORUS:
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a light on me,
Let the Midnight Special shine a everlovin' light on me.

Yonder come miss Rosie, how in the world did you know?
By the way she wears her apron, and the clothes she wore.
Umbrella on her shoulder, piece of paper in her hand;
She come to see the gov'nor, she wants to free her man.

CHORUS

If you're ever in Houston, well, you better do the right;
You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down.
The next thing you know, boy, Oh! You're prison bound.

CHORUS

CHORUS

I have a record of Midnight Special by Harry Belafonte. What makes it special, he employed Bob Dylan on the harmonica. It was to be a whole set, but Dylan didn't like Belafonte's way of producing recordings and quit.
