Not at all related to the above or anyone else in special

Oh, the shark has pretty teeth dear
And he shows 'em, pearly white
Just a jack knife has Macheath dear
And he keeps it way out of sight

When that shark bites with his teeth, dear
Scarlet billows begin to spread
Fancy gloves though has Macheath dear
So there's never, never a trace of red

On the sidewalk, one Sunday morning
Lies a body, oozin' life
Someone's sneaking 'round the corner
Could that someone be Mack the Knife

From a tugboat, on the river going slow
A cement bag is dropping on down
You know that cement is for the weight dear
You can make a large bet Mackie's back in town

My man Louis Miller, he split the scene babe
After drawing out all the bread from his stash
Now Macheath spends like a sailor
Do you suppose our boy, he's done something rash

Old Satchmo, Louis Armstrong, Bobby Darrin
Did this song nice, Lady Ella too
They all sang it, with so much feeling
That Old Blue Eyes, he ain't gonna add nothing new

But with this big band, jumping behind me
Swinging hard, Jack, I now I can't lose
When I tell you, all about Mack the Knife babe
It's an offer, you can never refuse

We got Patrick Williams, Bill Miller playing that piano
And this great big band, bringing up the rear
All the band cats, in this band now
They make the greatest sounds, you're ever gonna hear

Oh Sookie Taudry, Jenny Diver, Polly Peachum, Old Miss Lulu Brown

Hey the line forms, on the right dear
Now that Macheath's back in town
You'd better lock your doors, and call the law
Because Macheath's back in town

if i can interrupt the program for a brief personal announcement, i, yw, recently achieved an a2k milestone, with no fanfare, alas--not that i begrudge this in any way, since i wasn't aware of it myself. Embarrassed my 10,000th post was thoroughly forgettable anyway. but, here's a belated fanfare of sorts:

I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it -
I thank you all -

But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose -

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -

(i'd just as soon settle for internet chess master, but we can't pick & choose these things Razz )

Wow! Well, listeners, your PD has some catching up to do, I'm afraid. I have been all over Westphalia, Germany and lost track of things here in our small studio.<smile>

Nice to see Ellinas and Walter back with us. We have missed our European friends.

Will cover all of our Hawkman's bio's shortly, listeners, and acknowledge the songs.

Raggedy, once again you have created a lovely gallery. I recognize Valerie and John Lee, but not the lady at the bottom of the heap.

Well, there's our turtle with a cause for celebration. You should have done Wordsworth's lovely poem, too.

"ten thousand saw I at a glance; tossing their heads in sprightly dance."

We announced the nuptials of Mr. and Mrs. Turtle, now we can celebrate his milestone.

Now I have my breath back, listeners. Ah, yes. I recall Cindy in Laverne and Shirley, Raggedy.

Ellinas, your song, "Trees" is lovely, Greece, and very exotic, and it is cryptic as well.

Try, I DO know your song, regardless of what someone has done to it.<smile>

Walter, As everyone knows, "Mack the Knife" is one of my very favorites, especially by Kevin Spacey. Razz

From John Lee Hooker:

(center text)

I love the way you walk
I love the way you walk
I'm crazy 'bout your walk
I love the way you walk
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

I like the way you switch
I like the way you switch
I like the way you switch
I like the way you switch
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

You got dimples in your jaw
You got dimples in your jaw
You got dimples in your jaw
You got dimples in your jaw
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

Well I see you every day
Well I see you every day
If you need to look
Well I see you every day
Well I see you every day
You my babe, I got my eyes on you

Love it!

I was just...

Lookin' Out My Back Door
Creedence Clearwater Revival Lyrics

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I'm singing
Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door.

There's a giant doin' cart wheels, a statue wearin' high heels
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
A wonderous apparition, provided by a magician
Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door.

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band
Won't you take a ride on a flyin' spoon?
Doo, doo, doo, doo

Bother me tomorrow, today I'll buy no sorrows
Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door.

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band
Won't you take a ride on a flyin' spoon?
Doo, doo, doo, doo

Bother me tomorrow, today I'll buy no sorrows
Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door.

Aha! Try. I am whistling that song as we speak, buddy. Love it!

Well, listeners. While Creedence looks out "their back door", Eric is headin' for....

Eric Clapton - Crossroads Lyrics

By robert johnson

I went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees.
I went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees.
Asked the lord above for mercy, "save me if you please."

I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride.
I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride.
Nobody seemed to know me, everybody passed me by.

I'm going down to rosedale, take my rider by my side.
I'm going down to rosedale, take my rider by my side.
You can still barrelhouse, baby, on the riverside.

You can run, you can run, tell my friend-boy willie brown.
You can run, you can run, tell my friend-boy willie brown.
And I'm standing at the crossroads, believe I'm sinking down.

It's karaoke night! Nair and I hit the Cathay Pacific about 8:30pm and if our friend Dave Colt (the dj) has it in his book I'll sing a new (to me) song tonight.

Kenny Rogers
Buy Me A Rose

He works hard to give her all he thinks she wants
A three car garage, her own credit cards
He pulls in late to wake her up with a kiss good night
If he could only read her mind, she'd say:

Buy me a rose, call me from work
Open a door for me, what would it hurt
Show me you love me by the look in your eyes
These are the little things I need the most in my life

Now the days have grown to years of feeling all alone
And she can't help but wonder what she's doing wrong
Cause lately she'd try anything to turn his head
Would it make a difference if she said:

Buy me a rose, call me from work
Open a door for me, what would it hurt
Show me you love me by the look in your eyes
These are the little things I need the most in my life

And the more that he lives the less that he tries
To show her the love that he holds inside
And the more that she gives the more that he sees
This is a story of you and me

So I bought you a rose on the way home from work
To open the door to a heart that I hurt
And I hope you notice this look in my eyes
Cause I'm gonna make things right
For the rest of your life
I'm gonna hold you tonight
Do all those little things
For the rest of your life.

It's a singing and dancing night when only a rare moment will find me without a smile on my face. I hope many of you have an equally enjoyable evening but I suspect you won't. Sorry (Oh no I'm not).

Love Train
The O'Jays)

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

The next stop that we make will be England
Tell all the folks in Russia and China too
Don't you know that it's time to get on board
And let this train keep on riding, riding on through

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

All of your brothers over in Africa
Tell all the folks in Egypt and Israel too
Please don't miss this train at the station
'Cause if you miss it, I feel sorry, sorry for you

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

People all over the world, join hands
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world, join hands
Join a love train, love train

Try, you are magic, methinks. As a matter of fact, Lord Ellpus is back showing us France and his project to renovate a 400 year old house.

Your love train is underway, honey.

This one is for our Turtles:

Long distance, information
Give me Memphis, Tennessee
Trying to find the party
Trying to get in touch with me
She would not leave her number
But I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took the message
And he wrote it on the wall

Help me, information
Get in touch with my Marie
She's the only one who'd phone me here
From Memphis, Tennessee
Her home is on the south side
Just beyond the ridge
Just a half a mile from the Mississippi bridge

Help me, information
More than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her
And all the fun we had
We were pulled apart, because
Her mom would not agree
Help me get in touch with her
In Memphis, Tennessee

The last time that I saw Marie
She was waving me goodbye
With hurry-home drops on her cheek
That trickeled from her eye
Marie is only six years old
Information, please
Help me get in touch with her
In Memphis, Tennessee

THE DOORS
Love Her Madly

Don't you love her madly?
Don't you need her badly?
Don't you love her ways?
Tell me what you say?
Don't you love her madly?
Want to be her daddy?
Don't you love her face?
Don't you love her as she's walking out the door?
Like she did one thousand times before
Don't you love her ways?
Tell me what you say
Don't you love her as she's walking out the door?

All you love, all your love, all your love, all your love
All your love is gone, so sing a lonely song
Of a deep blue dream, seven horses seem
To be on the mark

Oh don't you love her
Don't you love her as she's walking out the door?
Don't you love her madly?
Don't you love her madly?

thanks to the PD for that chuck berry classic. is it all saint's day at WA2K? here's my favorite saint:

Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon of St. Francis of Assisi

Most High, all-powerful, all-good Lord, All praise is Yours, all glory, all honour and all blessings.

To you alone, Most High, do they belong, and no mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your Name.

Praised be You my Lord with all Your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
Who is the day through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendour,
Of You Most High, he bears the likeness.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars,
In the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air,
And fair and stormy, all weather's moods,
by which You cherish all that You have made.

Praised be You my Lord through Sister Water,
So useful, humble, precious and pure.

Praised be You my Lord through Brother Fire,
through whom You light the night and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.

Praised be You my Lord through our Sister,
Mother Earth
who sustains and governs us,
producing varied fruits with coloured flowers and herbs.
Praise be You my Lord through those who grant pardon for love of You and bear sickness and trial.

Blessed are those who endure in peace, By You Most High, they will be crowned.

Praised be You, my Lord through Sister Death,
from whom no-one living can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Blessed are they She finds doing Your Will.

No second death can do them harm. Praise and bless my Lord and give Him thanks,
And serve Him with great humility.

Ramblin' Rose
Nat King Cole

[Words and Music by Noel Sherman and Joe Sherman]

Ramblin' rose, ramblin' rose
Why you ramble, no one knows
Wild and wind-blown, that's how you've grown
Who can cling to a ramblin' rose

Ramble on, ramble on
When your ramblin' days are gone
Who will love you with a love true
When your ramblin' days are through

Ramblin' rose, ramblin' rose
Why I want you, heaven knows
Though I love you with a love true
Who can cling to a ramblin' rose

SPOKEN:
One more time, everybody, now

Ramblin' rose, ramblin' rose
Why I want you, heaven knows
Though I love you with a love true
Who can cling to a ramblin' rose

You are most welcome for the song, Mr. Turtle, and that was a comforting piece from St. Francis of Assisi, m.d. The spacious firmament and all that is therein contained, makes me feel light this evening.<smile>

edgar, dear, dear Nat. What a wonderful man and performer, Texas. Thanks for the rose that rambles.

Here's another rambler, listeners:

» WAYLON JENNINGS » I'm a Ramblin' Man Lyrics

I've been down to Mississippi
Down through New Orlean
Yes I have
I've played in California
There ain't too much I haven't seen
No there ain't
Lord, I'm a ramblin' man
Don't fool around with a ramblin' man.

Left a girl in West Virginia
Up there where that green grass grows
Yes I did
Got a girl in Cincinatti
Waitin' where the Ohio River flows
Oh, girl
I'm a ramblin' man.
Don't give your heart to a ramblin' man.

You better move away
Your standing to close to the plain
Once I mess with the ol' mind
Your little ol' heart won't be the same
But I'm a ramblin' man
Don't mess around within your ramblin' man.

You better not
Well, up in Chicago
I was known as quite a boy
Yes I was
Down in Alabama
They call me the man of joy
Still do
Well, I'm a ramblin' man
Don't fall in love with a ramblin' man.

You better move away
Your standing to close to the plain
Once I mess with the ol' mind
Your little ol' heart won't be the same
Oh, I'm a ramblin' man
Don't mess around with any ol' ramblin man...

another ramblin man

Ramblin' Gamblin' Man
Bob Seger

Yeah, I'm gonna tell my tale come on,
Come on, give a listen

Cause I was born lonely down by the riverside
Learned to spin fortune wheels, and throw dice
And I was just thirteen when I had to leave home
Knew I couldn't stick around, I had to roam
Ain't good looking, but you know I ain't shy
Ain't afraid to look you girl, in the eyes
So if you need some lovin, and you need it right away
Take a little time out, and maybe I'll stay

But I got to ramble (ramblin' man)
Oh I got to gamble (gamblin' man)
Got to got to ramble (ramblin' man)
I was born a ramblin' gamblin' man

Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah alright here we go now now
I'm out of money, cause you know I need some
I ain't around to love you now, and I gotta run
Gotta keep moving, never gonna slow down
You can have your funky world, see you 'round

(repeat chorus)

here is a song that i hope all will enjoy Smile
it's a sailor's song that mixes english and german .
it's a capstan song that was used by all sailors no matter what their mother tongue .
walter - being an old salt - will no doubt have sung it often in his "younger" Very Happy years .
