Ok…

Bring It On Down
OASIS

What was that sound ringing around your brain?
Today was just a blur, you've got a head like a ghost train
What was that sound ringing around your brain?
You're here on your own who you gonna find to blame?

You're the outcast - you're the underclass
But you don't care - because you're living fast

You're the un-invited guest who stays 'till the end
I know you've got a problem that the devil sends
You think they're talking 'bout you but you don't know who
I'll be scraping your life from the sole of my shoe tonight.

Bring it on down. Bring it down for me
Your head's in a fish tank
Your body and your mind can't breath

Bring it on down. Bring it down for me
Your head's in a fish tank
Your body and your mind can't breath

You're the outcast - you're the underclass
But you don't care - because you're living fast

You're the un-invited guest who stays 'till the end
I know you've got a problem that the devil sends
You think they're talking 'bout you but you don't know who
I'll be scraping their lives from the sole of my shoe tonight

Love Street

She lives on love street
Lingers long on love street
She has a house and garden
I would like to see what happens
She has robes and she has monkeys
Lazy diamond studded flunkies
She has wisdom and knows what to do
She has me and she has you
She has wisdom and knows what to do
She has me and she has you
I see you live on love street
There's this store where the creatures meet
I wonder what they do in there
Summer sunday and a year
I guess I like it fine, so far
She lives on love street
Lingers long on love street
She has a house and garden
I would like to see what happens
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

Well, folks. It seems as though Letty has some catching up to do. Never have I been so hot, but at least, Raggedy, I left you laughing. Razz

Dear hawkman. Thanks again for the bio's and the secret ways we have of looking busy. Love the last line, and Rex is right. Too hot to look busy.

Back in a minute to check out Try's song, but I feel like Shakespeare, "hot" in love.

A little bit of serious here, listeners:

Fear no more the heat o' the sun

Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages;
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

Fear no more the frown o' the great;
Thou art past the tyrant's stroke:
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak:
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this, and come to dust.

Fear no more the lightning-flash,
Nor the all-dreaded thunder-stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finished joy and moan;
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee, and come to dust.

No exorciser harm thee!
Nor no witchcraft charm thee!
Ghost unlaid forbear thee!
Nothing ill come near thee!
Quiet consummation have;
And renownéd be thy grave!

-- William Shakespeare

Well, Try and Rex, Oasis and Love street are not good companions today. I do believe that they are mutually exclusive. <smile>

Thanks for the hot and the cool, however.

For once, I didn't mind the high cost of power, but that petrol has got to give. $3.00 a gallon now, folks. Shocked

Need a lunch break, so I'll be back after trying to look busy.

Tina Turner › (Just came on a rival station)
River Deep Mountain High

When I was a little girl I had a rag doll
The only doll I've ever owned
Now I love you just the way I loved that rag doll
But only now my love has grown
And it gets stronger in every way
And it gets deeper let me say
And it gets higher day by day

Do I love you my oh my
River deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

When you were a young boy did you have a puppy
That always followed you around
Well Im gonna be as faithful as that puppy
No Ill never let you down
Cause it goes on and on like a river flows
And it gets bigger baby and heaven knows
And it gets sweeter baby as it grows

Do I love you my oh my
River deep, mountain high
If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby, baby, baby, baby

I love you baby like a flower loves the spring
And I love you baby like a robin loves to sing
And I love you baby like a schoolboy loves his bag
And I love you baby river deep mountain high

Well, Try. I got fat and full in the middle of the day, and had to take a cat nap. <smile>

Cat Stevens Wild World lyrics

Now that I've lost everything to you
You say you wanna start something new
And it's breakin' my heart you're leavin'
Baby, I'm grievin'
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
I'll always remember you like a child, girl

You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breakin' my heart in two
Because I never wanna see you a sad, girl
Don't be a bad girl
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware

Chorus

Baby, I love you
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware

Chorus

Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs dont break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could live together
Walking on, walking on the moon

Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Feet they hardly touch the ground
Walking on the moon
My feet dont hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon

Some may say
Im wishing my days away
No way
And if its the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrows another day
You stay
I may as well play

Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs dont break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon

Some may say
Im wishing my days away
No way
And if its the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrows another day
You stay

Well, John. Ella says it's too high:

How High the Moon
(From the album "ELLA FITZGERALD [ASV/LIVING ERA]")

Somewhere there's music
How faint the tune
Somewhere there's heaven
How high the moon
There is no moon above
When love is far away too
Till it comes true
That you love me as I love you

Somewhere there's music
How near, how far
Somewhere there's heaven
It's where you are
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

Somewhere there's music
How faint the tune
Somewhere there's heaven
How high the moon
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

Good morning, Raggedy and WA2K listeners and contributors.

Well, PA, I am right here, dear, but got carried away with the biography of Conrad Aiken and the seduction of destruction. I was fascinated with his lifestyle and his diffidence. If anyone here has ever read the short story, "Silent Snow-Secret Snow", you will understand.

I do believe that most of us know every single celeb, honey. Thanks again for the lovely collage.

Anyone remember this?

Spanish Ladies
Traditional - Lyrics from Shanties from the Seven Seas, by Stan Hugill

Farewell an' adieu to you fair Spanish ladies,
Farewell an' adieu to you ladies of Spain,
For we've received orders for to sail for old England,
An' hope very shortly to see you again.

We'll rant an' we'll roar, like true British sailors,
We'll rant an' we'll rave across the salt seas,
'Till we strike soundings in the Channel of Old England,
From Ushant to Scilly is thirty-four leagues.

We hove our ship to, with the wind at sou'west, boys,
We hove our ship to for to take soundings clear.
In fifty-five fathoms with a fine sandy bottom,
We filled our maintops'l, up Channel did steer.

The first land we made was a point called the Deadman,
Next Ramshead off Plymouth, Start, Portland, and Wight.
We sailed then by Beachie, by Fairlee and Dungeyness,
Then bore straight away for the South Foreland Light.

Now the signal was made for the Grand Fleet to anchor,
We clewed up our tops'ls, stuck out tacks and sheets.
We stood by our stoppers, we brailed in our spankers,
And anchored ahead of the noblest of fleets.

Let every man here drink up his full bumper,
Let every man here drink up his full bowl,
And let us be jolly and drown melancholy,
Drink a health to each jovial an' true-hearted soul.

here's something by a French lady:

Des yeux qui font baisser les miens
Un rire qui se perd sur sa bouche
Voilà le portrait sans retouche
De l'homme auquel j'appartiens

{Refrain:}
Quand il me prend dans ses bras,
Il me parle tout bas
Je vois la vie en rose,
Il me dit des mots d'amour
Des mots de tous les jours,
Et ça me fait quelque chose
Il est entré dans mon cœur,
Une part de bonheur
Dont je connais la cause,
C'est lui pour moi,
Moi pour lui dans la vie
Il me l'a dit, l'a juré
Pour la vie.
Et dès que je l'aperçois
Alors je sens en moi
Mon cœur qui bat.

Des nuits d'amour à plus finir
Un grand bonheur qui prend sa place
Des ennuis, des chagrins s'effacent
Heureux, heureux à en mourir

{au Refrain}

{Nota: variante pour le dernier couplet:}

Des nuits d'amour à en mourir
Un grand bonheur qui prend sa place
Les ennuis, les chagrins s'effacent
Heureux, heureux pour mon plaisir

Oh, my Gawd! A turtle that speaks French. Is that better than a talking geco? <smile>

Well, it sounds a little like La vie en rose, but who knows, m.d.

If we can have a tri-lingual shell man, we can certainly have a lark:

For Robbie:

Skylark, have you anything to say to me?
Won't you tell me where my love can be?
Is there a meadow in the mist
Where someone's waiting to be kissed?

Skylark, have you seen a valley green with spring
Where my heart can go a journeying
Over the shadows and the rain
To a blossom covered lane?

And in your lonely flight
Haven't you heard the music in the night,
Wonderful music,
Faint as a will o' the wisp, crazy as a loon,
Sad as a gypsy serenading the moon.

Oh, skylark, i don't know if you can find these things
But my heart is riding on your wings.
So if you see them anywhere
Won't you lead me there?

Oh, skylark, i don't know
If you can find these things
But my heart is riding on your wings.
So if you see them anywhere
Won't you lead me there?

Robert Shaw
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Shaw (August 9, 1927 - August 28, 1978) was an English stage and film actor and writer.

Robert Shaw was born in Westhoughton, near Bolton, Lancashire, England in 1927 to Thomas (a doctor) and Doreen Shaw. He had three sisters and one brother. At the age of seven, the family moved to Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland. At the age of 12, his father died (his death was apparently related to an alcohol problem), and the family moved to Cornwall, where he went to school in Truro. Robert Shaw's best-known film performances include a turn as the dangerous enemy secret agent Red Grant in the James Bond film From Russia with Love (1963); the relentless Colonel Hessler in Battle of the Bulge (1965); a young Henry VIII in A Man for All Seasons (1966); Lord Randolph Churchill, in Young Winston (1972); the ruthless and intelligent Doyle Lonnegan in The Sting (1973); and the 'working class hero' with the interesting scars, Quint in Jaws (1975).

Shaw was nominated for the Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role A Man for All Seasons.

Shaw performed on stage in England and on Broadway. He was also an accomplished writer as well as a respected actor, adapting his own novel The Man in the Glass Booth for the stage but asking for his credit to be removed from the filmed version.

He was married three times,
Jennifer Bourke (1952-1963); four daughters.
Mary Ure (1963-1975); four children
Virginia Jansen (1976-1978); one child.
Robert Shaw died from a heart attack in Tourmakeady, County Mayo, Ireland, aged 51. A Wetherspoons pub has been named after him in his home town. One of his sons, Ian Shaw, is also an actor.

Sam Elliott
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sam Elliott (born Samuel Pack Elliott on August 9, 1944 in Sacramento, California) is an American film and television actor, usually recognised by his tall, thin, rough-hewn physique, a thick handlebar moustache and a gruff speaking voice.

Film

He began his career as a stage actor, but his appearance naturally suited cowboy and adventurer movie roles. His first movie appearance was in 1969 as a card player in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, where on set he met his future wife, actress Katharine Ross. They married in 1984, the same year their daughter, Cleo, was born.

Some of his more well-known film roles include: Gar, in Mask (1985); the bouncer Wade Garrett, in the cult film Road House (1989); Virgil Earp, in Tombstone (1993); and General John Buford, in Gettysburg (1993). He also had a small but memorable role as "The Stranger" in the Coen Brothers' film The Big Lebowski (1998), in which he narrated the movie. His appearance made him an obvious casting choice as General Thaddeous "Thunderbolt" Ross in Hulk (2003), and won acclaim playing Sergeant-Major Basil L. Plumley in Randall Wallace's Vietnam War film We Were Soldiers (2002), playing opposite Mel Gibson.

TV

During 1970-71, Elliott starred as Doug Robert in the hit TV series Mission Impossible and later played "sexy" killers in the miniseries Murder in Texas (1981) and A Death in California (1986). He has made guest appearances on shows such as Felony Squad, Gunsmoke, Lancer and Hawaii Five-O and has featured in many TV movies, for instance as Wild Bill Hickock in Buffalo Girls (1995).

In 2006, he starred in the TNT TV movie Avenger.

Trivia

Elliott's voice can be heard in as the voiceover narration for commercials from time to time. In the past he has lent his voice to campaigns for Chevy, IBM, Union Pacific, and, most notably, took over as the voice of the American Beef Council after Robert Mitchum.

The young Sam Elliott was often cast for his "beefcake" appeal. In his early movies -- "The Games," "Frogs," "Molly and Lawless John" -- he performed a number of scenes without his shirt. Then, in "Lifeguard," he appeared in much of the movie wearing nothing more than a pair of swim trunks. Next, in "The Legacy," he shed all his clothes for a gratuitous nude scene which, even though it only featured rear views, still earned the highest rating (3 stars) from "The Bare Facts," a book devoted to nudity in the movies. As late as 1996, when he was in his early 50s, Elliott still managed to strip to the waist for a scene in "Dog Watch." Unlike many actors, Elliott never shaved his chest, thus making him a hero to those who prefer their males hirsute.

She received an Emmy nomination as Best Supporting Actress in HBO television movie, RKO 281 (1999). She is currently seen on The WB sitcom Twins, in which she plays Lee, the mother of the show's main characters played by Sara Gilbert and Molly Stanton.

Sex scandal allegations

In her book A Paper Life, the Oscar-winning actress Tatum O'Neal alleges that Griffith dragged her, at age 12, into an opium-fuelled orgy in Paris, along with another actress and the boyfriend of one of the actresses. Tatum also alleged that she walked in on Melanie while she was in bed with her father Ryan O'Neal.

Cosmetic surgery

She has a reputation for overusing cosmetic surgery.[1]
