Lynda Carter
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lynda Carter (born July 24, 1951) is an American actress. She is best known for the amazonian title role in the fantasy-adventure TV series Wonder Woman which aired from 1975 to 1979.

She was born Linda Jean Córdoba Carter in Phoenix, Arizona, to Irish-American Colby Carter and Mexican-American Juana Córdoba.[1][2] Carter grew up an avid reader of the Wonder Woman comic books. She went to Arcadia High School in Phoenix, then to Arizona State University, but after being voted the most talented student she dropped out in order to pursue a career in music. She toured as a singer with several rock groups before returning to Arizona in 1972.

She entered a local beauty contest and achieved her first national fame by winning Miss World USA in 1972 representing Arizona.[3] She eventually represented the United States in the Miss World pageant, where she reached the semi-finals. After taking acting classes at several New York acting schools, she began making appearing on TV shows such as Starsky and Hutch, Cos and Nakia and B-movies including Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw (1976). However, her acting career did not take off until she landed her starring role in the Wonder Woman television series.

Her earnest performance as the scantily clad superhero endeared her to fans and critics and the series lasted for three seasons. Thirty years after first taking on the role, Carter continues to be closely identified with Wonder Woman, so much so that it has proved difficult for producers to find a suitable candidate to play the character in subsequent aborted productions (work on the most recent attempt was announced in 2005).

Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman.Carter's other credits include the title role in a 1983 biopic of Rita Hayworth and a variety of television specials. She also starred in a couple of short-lived TV series. During the late 1970s, she recorded the album Portrait and made numerous guest appearances on variety television programs in a musical capacity. She also sang two of her songs in the Wonder Woman episode "Amazon Hot Wax."

Carter has been married twice. Her first marriage was to her former agent Ron Samuels on May 28, 1977. They were divorced in 1982. Carter married lawyer Robert Altman on January 29, 1984. Robert and Lynda have two children, James and Jessica Altman.[3]

In 2001, Carter was cast in the low-budget comedy feature Super Troopers as Vermont Governor Jessman. The writer-stars of the film, the comedy troop Broken Lizard with member Jay Chandrasekhar directing, had specifically sought Carter for the role, with plans to approach other television actresses of the 1970s had Carter declined. Carter had her first appearance in a major feature film in a number of years in the 2005 big-screen remake of The Dukes of Hazzard, also directed by Chandrasekhar. She also appears in the 2005 movie Sky High as Principal Powers, the head of a school for superheroes. The script allows Carter to poke fun at her most famous character by having her state: "How do you expect me to do something like that? I'm not Wonder Woman."

Carter has also done voiceover work for videogames, performing voices for nords and orcs in three computer games from The Elder Scrolls series. These are The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

From September 26, 2005 until November of that year, Carter played role of Mama Morton in the West End London production of Chicago.

Subject: FW: Dear Tide

I am writing to say what an excellent product you have!
I've used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best.
Now that I am in my fifties I find it even better! In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse!
I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative, and to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out. In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative and then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband.
What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect. I thank you, once again, for having a great product!

Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.

Hey, I'm on an apple kick. Wonder(woman) why, folks?

Little Green Apples

Words and music by Bobby Russell

And I wake up in the morning with my hair down in my eyes and she says hi
And I stumble to the breakfast table while the kids are going off to school, Goodbye.
And she reaches out and takes my hand and squeezes it and says how you feeling hon?
And I look across at smiling lips that warm my heart, and see my morning sun.

And if that's not loving me, then all I've got to say,
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summer time.
And there's no such thing as Dr. Seuss or Disney Land and Mother Goose, no nursery rhymes.
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summer time.
And when myself is feeling low, I think about her face and go and ease my mind.

Sometimes I call her up, at home, knowing she's busy.
And ask her if she can get away, meet me and maybe we can grab a bite to eat.
And she drops what she's doing and she hurries down to meet me, and I'm always late.
But she sits waiting patiently, and smiles when she first sees me, because she's made that way.

And if that ain't loving me, then all I've got to say,
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't snow in Minneapolis when the winter comes.
And there's no such thing as make-believe, puppy dogs or autumn leaves, no bb guns.
God didn't make the little green apples, and it don't snow in Minneapolis when the winter comes.

"know what the word Alamo means?"

The Alamo was originally named; Mision San Antonio de Valero.

On The Wings Of Love
Artist: Clay Aiken Lyrics

Just smile for me and let the day begin.
You are the sunlight that lights my heart within
And I'm sure that you're an angel in disguise
Come take my hand and together we will ride,
On the Wings Of Love
Up and above the clouds the only way to fly
Is on the Wings of Love
On the Wings of Love only the two of us, together flyin' high
Flyin' high upon the Wings of Love
You look at me and I begin to melt,
Just like the snow when a ray of sun is felt
And I'm crazy 'bout you baby can't you see
I'd be so delighted if you would come with me,
On the Wings of Love,
Up and above the clouds the only way to fly,
Is on the Wings of Love
On the Wings of Love,
Only the two of us,
Together flyin' high,
Flyin' high upon the Wings of love
Yes you belong to me!
I'm yours exclusively
Right now we live and breathe together,
Inseperable it seems
We're flowing like a stream, running free travling on the Wings of Love
On the Wings of Love up and above the clouds, the only way to fly
Is on the Wings of Love
On the Wings of Love, only the two of us,
Together flyin' high
Flyin' high upon the Wings of Love
Up and above the clouds, the only way to fly
Flyin' high up on the Wings of Love
Only the two of us together flyin high!

Hey, Try. Actually the literal translation is "cottowood" as in tree. <smile>

Was that smile good enough for ya?

Thanks for the lovely song, honey. Hey, folks. Speaking of wings, how about some Paul:

Paul McCartney
» Live And Let Die

Words and Music by Paul McCartney

When you were young and your heart was an open book,
You used to say live and let live.
(You know you did, you know you did, you know you did.)
But if this ever changing world in which we live in
makes you give it a cry, say Live and Let Die!
Live and Let Die, Live and Let Die, Live and Let Die
What does it matter to ya,
when you got a job to do, you gotta do it well
You gotta give the other fellow Hell!

Breaking news:

Chicago passes new restrictive ordinances By DON BABWIN, Associated Press Writer
1 hour, 7 minutes ago

CHICAGO - If you're a cell phone-using, goose liver-eating, cigarette-smoking, fast food-loving person, Chicago might not be your kind of town.

In this city that once winked at Prohibition, members of the City Council are trying to crack down on things they deem unhealthy, immoral or just plain annoying.

A proposal that would restrict fast-food chains from cooking with artery-clogging trans fat oils got a public airing last week, and in the past year alone aldermen have banned smoking in nearly all public places and the use of cell phones while driving.

In April, Chicago became the first U.S. city to outlaw the sale of foie gras, a goose liver delicacy that is decried by animal-rights activists because it is created by force-feeding birds to fatten up their livers.

Critics, including the mayor, wonder if the City Council has suddenly deemed itself the behavior police.

"We have children getting killed by gang leaders and dope dealers," an angry Mayor Richard M. Daley said earlier this year. "We have real issues here in this city. And we're dealing with foie gras? Let's get some priorities."

My, my, listeners. Here we go again.

Thunderbolt & Lightening very, very frightening.

Blackouts as US temperatures soar

Queens residents have endured seven days without power
Hundreds of thousands of people in different parts of the US continue to be affected by power outages as temperatures soar to record highs.
In California, where temperatures reached 50C (122F) in places, the heat was blamed for at least four deaths.

The power grid was unable to cope with the increased demand for electricity, leading to widespread cuts.

In Missouri and New York, thousands are still without power after high temperatures and storms last week.

On Sunday, power was restored to thousands of homes in the borough of Queens, but more than 5,000 customers (an estimated 20,000 people) remained without electricity for a seventh day.

It is not clear when power will be fully restored there.

Meanwhile, utility workers in St Louis, Missouri, struggled to resume services to hundreds of thousands of homes left without electricity after violent storms last week.

Ameren, the owner of the local power company, said 250,000 homes and businesses were still without electricity on Sunday.

Record

More than 20 heat-related deaths were reported last week across the United States.

While temperatures have since cooled in some parts of the country, California is bracing itself for more hot weather this week.

The LA Times reports that the Los Angeles area is experiencing one of its worst heatwaves on record.

Forecasters say high temperatures will continue until at least mid-week, prompting fears that there may be more power outages as people return to work after the weekend.

On Sunday evening, more than 100,000 homes remained without electricity in the state.

Thanks, John. It is quite interesting for a Brit to make us Yanks aware of our problems with the heat. Interestingly enough, it is really not that hot here.

Good to see you back, London, and we hope you are well and cool.

Which leads up to..............

Somethin' cool, set one up for me
Anythin' will do
Just make it somethin' cool

Somethin' sad, hey, won't you play me
Somethin; sad, play one that slays me
Play me something blue
To go with somethin' cool

There's an old flame burnin' in me
Like the sun in a July sky
Seems to me, I'm always thirsty
Since she left me high and dry

Somethin' cool

You are more than likely right, John. Our news seems to be all about politics.<smile>

Let's hear something from Robert Frost. Maybe that will cool off the planet:

GOING FOR WATER
The well was dry beside the door,
And so we went with pail and can
Across the fields behind the house
To seek the brook if still it ran;
Not loth to have excuse to go,
Because the autumn eve was fair
(Though chill), because the fields were ours,
And by the brook our woods were there.

We ran as if to meet the moon
That slowly dawned behind the trees,
The barren boughs without the leaves,
Without the birds, without the breeze.

But once within the wood, we paused
Like gnomes that hid us from the moon,
Ready to run to hiding new
With laughter when she found us soon.

Each laid on other a staying hand
To listen ere we dared to look,
And in the hush we joined to make
We heard, we knew we heard the brook.

A note as from a single place,
A slender tinkling fall that made
Now drops that floated on the pool
Like pearls, and now a silver blade.

When you are feeling down, then…

The only way is up
YAZZ Lyrics

We've been broken down
To the lowest turn
And been on the bottom line
Sure ain't no fun
But if we should be evicted from our homes
We'll just move somewhere else
And still carry on
Hold on, hold on, hold on
Chorus
The only way is up, baby
For you and me now, baby
The only way is up
For you and me now
Now we may not know
Where our next meal is coming from
But with you by my side
I'll face what is to come
Boy, I wanna thank you
For loving me this way
Things may be a little hard now
But we'll find a brighter day
Hold on, hold on, hold on
The only way is up, baby
For you and me now

"Heartlight" - Neil Diamond

Come back again
I want you to stay next time
'Cause sometimes the world ain't kind
When people get lost like you and me

I just made a friend
A friend is someone you need
But now that he had to go away
I still feel the words that he might say

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see
Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake me up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

He's lookin' for home
'Cause everyone needs a place
And home's the most excellent place of all
And I'll be right here if you should call me

Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see
Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake me up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me

And home's the most excellent place of all
And I'll be right here if you should call me
Turn on your heartlight
Let it shine wherever you go
Let it make a happy glow
For all the world to see
Turn on your heartlight
In the middle of a young boy's dream
Don't wake me up too soon
Gonna take a ride across the moon
You and me
Turn on your heartlight now
Turn on your heartlight now

Very Happy

Ah, Try. Your song reminds me of one I love, buddy, and there's our butterfly back and flitting amongst the heartlights. Love it, lady.

Here's one that I recall with fondness:

Johnny Cash

When you're all alone and blue
No one to tell your troubles to
Remember me, I'm the one who loves you

When this world has turned you down
And not a true friend can be found
Remember me, I'm the one who loves you

And through all kinds of weather
You'll find I'll never change
Through the sunshine and the shadows
I'll always be the same

We're together right or wrong
Where you go I'll tag along
Remember me, I'm the one who loves you

(And through all kinds of weather
You'll find I'll never change)
Through the sunshine and the shadows
I'll always be the same

We're together right or wrong
Where you go I'll tag along
Remember me, I'm the one who loves you
Remember me, I'm the one who loves you

Enough Adam's Ale too wet the whistle & thus raise a merry tune that it might carry us thru the night on the wings & in the arms of the Angel. Thus we should arrive safely with the new dawn & the avarian chorus ringing in our ears.

When You Say Nothing At All
RONAN KEATING LYRICS

It's amazing
How you can speak
Right to my heart
Without saying a word,
You can light up the dark
Try as I may
I could never explain
What I hear when
You don't say a thing

[CHORUS:]
The smile on your face
Lets me know
That you need me
There's a truth
In your eyes
Saying you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says
You'll catch me
Whenever I fall
You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all

All day long
I can hear people
Talking out loud
But when you hold me near
You drown out the crowd
(The crowd)
Try as they may
They can never define
What's been said
Between your
Heart and mine

[Repeat chorus twice]

(You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all
You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all)

The smile on your face
The truth in your eyes
The touch of your hand
Let's me know
That you need me

Well, OAK, here's one to help you make it through the night.

Help Me Make It Through The Night

K. Kristofferson

Take the ribbon from your hair,
Shake it loose and let it fall.
Lay it soft against your skin,
Like the shadows on the wall.

Come and lay down by my side,
'til the early morning light.
All I'm takin' is your time,
Help me make it through the night

I don't care who's right or wrong,
I don't try to understand.
Let the Devil take tomorrow,
Lord, tonight I need a friend

Yesterday is dead and gone,
and tomorrow's out of sight,
And it's sad to be alone,
Help me make it through the night

And it's sad to be alone,
Help me make it through the night
I don't wanna be alone,
Help me make it through the night

What a great song, Try. It's true, listeners. Often we "say it best when we say nothing at all."

My sister's favorite song, folks:

Billie Holiday
» All Or Nothing At All

Jack Lawrence / Arthur Altman

All or nothing at all
Half love never appealled to me
If your heart never could yield to me
Then I'd rather have nothing at all

All or nothing at all
If it's love there is no in between
Why begin, then cry for something that might have been
No, I rather have nothing at all
But, please, don't bring your lips so close to my cheek
Don't smile or I'll be lost beyond recall
The kiss in your eyes, the touch of your hand makes me weak
And my heart may grow dizzy and fall
And if I fell under the spell of your call
I would be caught in the undertow
So, you see, I've got to say
No, no
All or nothing at all

Help me make it through the night. Yeah, as long as my dreams don't become nightmares.

Funny things dreams, how they dredge up far distant & deeply buried memories. People & locations from long ago who hit the trip wire & open the gates to the past & raise a smile or 2 & remind you of where you are.

This is the wrong location on the wrong planet in the wrong solar system in the wrong galaxy in the wrong universe. It's a matter of working from the wrong route map & someone has peed on my SatNav.
