Welcome back, Sarah. Ah, the days when we were in love with the movie stars and the singers. Actually, Manchester. I was more in love with the music, but here is a song for you from your youthful love:

I THINK I LOVE YOU

(Tony Romeo)

I'm sleeping and right in the middle of a good dream
Like all at once I wake up from something that keeps knocking at my brain
Before I go insane I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed screaming out the words I dread
I think I love you (I think I love you)

This morning I woke up with this feeling
I didn't know how to deal with
And so I just decided to myself I'd hide it to myself
And never talk about it and didn't I go and shout it
When you walked into the room
I think I love you (I think I love you)

I think I love you so what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that I'm not sure of
A love there is no cure for.
I think I love you - isn't that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say that I never felt this way

I don't know what I'm up against
I don't know what it's all about
I've got so much to think about
Hey....

I think I love you so what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that I'm not sure of
A love there is no cure for.
I think I love you - isn't that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say that I never felt this way

Believe me, you really don't have to worry
I only wanna make you happy and if you say hey go away I will
But I think better still I'd better stay around and love you
Do you think I have a case? Let me ask you to your face
Do you think you love me?

I think I love you, I think I love you, I think I love you

I think I love you, I think I love you

A Good Heart
Feargal Sharkey

I hear a lot of stories
I suppose they could be true
All about love
And what it can do to you
High is the risk of striking out
The risk of getting hurt
And still, I have so much to learn

I know, 'cause I think about it all the time
I know that real love is quite a vice

And a good heart these days is hard to find (a good heart)
True love, the lasting kind
A good heart these days is hard to find
So please be gentle with this heart of mine

My expectations may be high
I blame it on my youth
Soon enough I learned the painful truth
I'll face it like a fighter
Then boast of how I've grown
Anything is better than being alone

Well I know, 'cause I learn a little every day
I know, 'cause I listen when the experts say

That a good heart these days is hard to find (a good heart)
True love, the lasting kind
A good heart these days is hard to find (ooh)
So please be gentle with this heart of mine, yeah

Hey

As I reflect on all my childhood dreams
My ideas of love weren't as foolish as they seemed
If I don't start looking now, I'll be left behind
And a good heart these days, it's hard to find

I know, it's a dream I'm willing to defend
I know it will all be worth it in the end

And a good heart these days is hard to find (a good heart)
True love, the lasting kind
A good heart these days is hard to find
So please be gentle with this heart of mine

And a good heart these days is hard to find (a good heart)
True love, the lasting kind
(Ooh) a good heart these days is hard to find
So please be gentle with this heart
With this heart of mine

(Oh oh oh oh oh oh, a good heart)
(Ah, hey hey, a good heart)
(Oh oh oh oh oh oh, a good heart)
(Ah-ha ah-ha ah-ha, a good heart)

Only You
Yaz

Looking from a window above, it's like a story of love
Can you hear me
Came back only yesterday I'm moving further away
Want you near me

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew
Only you

Sometimes when I think of her name when it's only a gam
And I need you
Listen to the words that you say it's getting harder to stay
When I see you

Chorus

This is going to take a long time and I wonder what's mine
Can't take no more
Wonder if you'll understand it's just the touch of your hand
Behind a closed door

Chorus

dj, I loved the "Good Heart" song, Canada. Doesn't anyone ever, EVER love with their head?<smile>That "Only You." sturck a chord of memory, buddy. Lovely and thanks.

Rex, you are most welcome. Byron and Robert Browning are among my favorite British poets, but if a poem strikes my heart, and mind, and soul, it really doesn't matter who wrote it.

dj reminded me of this one, listeners:

Fools Rush In

Fools rush in
Where angels fear to tread
And so I come to you my love
My heart above my head

Though I see
The danger there
If there's a chance for me
Then I don't care

Fools rush in
Where wise men never go
But wise men never fall in love
So how are they to know

When we met
I felt my life begin
So open up your heart and let
This fool rush in.

Back later with another, "Only You."

I know Alyson Moyet....she was a neighbour of mine, when I lived in Radlett, a little village/town in North London.
She used to make a fuss of my dog, as I walked past her very posh house.

When she got a pooch, a group of us (including her) used to walk together over the field behind her golf course of a garden.

Nice lady, with a wicked sense of humour.

Delightful, L.E. So here's to you from Alison

Alison Moyet
Is This Love

In a fleeting moment of a restless day
driven to distraction
I was captured by the game.
I have often wondered why I ever wanted to
leave these scattered hours behind me and speed myself to you.
I choose never to forget
I want our lips to kiss and our limbs to entwine
let our bodies be twisted but never our minds.
Is this love ? Is this love ? Is this love ? Is this love ?
Set to work idle hands
shake these thoughts
had I planned them they never would be teasing me
as viciously as these.
I would not have believed you
had I never seen
now you and I are intimately pictured
in my dreams.
I could not forsake you or gall tumbling away
and if I live in wonderland
I'm better off this way.
I choose never to forget
...
Is this love ? Is this love ? Is this love ? Is this love ?
Is this love ? Is this love ? Is this love ? Is this love ?

Well, I finally found one for Letty. It's an answer to dj's "Only You."

Only You (And you alone)
by Kris Kristofferson

Only you can make this world seem right.
Only you can make the darkness bright.
Only you and you alone can thrill me like you do
And fill my heart with love for only you.

Only you can make this change in me,
For it's true you are my destiny,
When you hold my hand, I understand the magic that you do.
You're my dream come true, my one and only you.

Only you

love miss moyet's voice

more teen angst

I Miss You
Blink 182

Hello there, the angel from my nightmare
the shadow in the background of the morgue
the unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
we can live like Jack and Sally if we want
where you can always find me
we'll have Halloween on Christmas
and in the night we'll wish this never ends
we'll wish this never ends

(I miss you, miss you)
(I miss you, miss you)

Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep, I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
this sick strange darkness
comes creeping on so haunting every time
and as I stared I counted
webs from all the spiders
catching things and eating their insides
like indecision to call you
and hear your voice of treason
will you come home and stop this pain tonight
stop this pain tonight

Don't waste your time on me you're already
the voice inside my head (I miss you, miss you)
don't waste your time on me you're already
the voice inside my head (I miss you, miss you)

Don't waste your time on me you're already
the voice inside my head (I miss you, miss you)
don't waste your time on me you're already
the voice inside my head (I miss you, miss you)

Don't waste your time on me you're already
the voice inside my head (I miss you, miss you)
don't waste your time on me you're already
the voice inside my head (I miss you, miss you)

(I miss you, miss you)
(I miss you, miss you)
(I miss you, miss you)
(I miss you, miss you)

Adam's Song
Blink 182

I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I trace the cord back to the wall
no wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
the choice was mine I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
you'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
days when I still felt alive
we couldn't wait to get outside
the world was wide, too late to try
the tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
to pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
another six months I'll be unknown
give all my things to all my friends
you'll never step foot in my room again
you'll close it off, board it up
remember the time that I spilled the cup
of apple juice in the hall
please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
days when I still felt alive
we couldn't wait to get outside
the world was wide, too late to try
the tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
to pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
tomorrow holds such better days
days when I can still feel alive
when I can't wait to get outside
the world is wide, the time goes by
the tour is over, I've survived
I can't wait till I get home
to pass the time in my room alone

The Young & The Hopeless
Good Charlotte

Hard days made me, hard nights shaped me
I don't know they somehow saved me
And I know I'm making something out of this life they called nothing
I take what I want
Take what I need
They say it's wrong but it's right for me
I won't look down
Won't say I'm sorry
I know that only God can judge me

And if I make it thru today will tomorrow be the same
Am I just running in place?
and if I stumble and I fall
Should I get up and carry on or will it all just be the same

'Cause, I'm young and I'm hopeless
I'm lost and I know this
I'm going nowhere fast that's what they say
I'm troublesome, I've fallen
I'm angry at my father
It's me against this world and I don't care, I don't care

And no one in this industry
Understands the life I lead
When I sing about my past
It's not a gimmick, not an act
These critics and these trust fund kids
Try to tell me what punk is
But when I see them on the streets, they got nothing to say....

And if I make it through today will tomorrow be the same
Am I just running in place?
If I stumble and I fall
Should I get up and carry on or will it all just be the same

'Cause, I'm young and I'm hopeless
I'm lost and I know this
I'm going nowhere fast that's what they say
I'm troublesome, I've fallen
I'm angry at my father
It's me against this world and I don't care, I don't care
I don't care, now I don't care

I'm young and I'm hopeless
I'm lost and I know this
I'm going nowhere fast that's what they say
That I'm troublesome, I've fallen
I'm angry at my father
It's me against this world and I don't care, I don't care
I don't care
I don't care

Well, dj. Blink and then Charlotte. Hey, Canada. I have a recipe for another Charlotte. <smile>Wow. Maybe it's healthy for those kids to vent through music. There is someone I know who does music therapy.

http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1913,148181-230199,00.html

But I am certain that you don't care about that, Canada. Ah, the teens in their jeans.

Well, listeners, I am always finding things that I'm not looking for, and here's one:

MARY BETH "Come Inside"

Have you ever been so close that it blinds you
You lose your focus til the distance falls away
Have you ever been so lost, and somebody finds you
And brings you back your faith, well I have and...
I've seen you cry, I've watched you sleeping
No one knows you better than I do, I can't believe you still don't see me

Oh, you don't know me as well as you think you do
I've got secrets, places that I hide
You don't know me as well as I want you to
Come inside, come inside, inside

Have you ever felt a touch change direction
In an instant turn from something casual, to more I've never felt so much affection
And now this wondering at what's behind the door
And you've held my hand, we've walked for miles and miles
Can't we pretend
That we're just meeting for the first time

Oh, you don't know me as well as you think you do
I've got secrets, places that I hide
You don't know me as well as I want you to
Come inside, come inside, inside

We've been the other half of each other
For as long as I can remember
I won't believe that you don't feel this

Oh, you don't know me as well as you think you do
I've got secrets, places that I hide
You don't know me as well as I want you to
Come inside, come inside, inside.

Lonely Days
Bee Gees

Good morning mister sunshine, you brighten up my day.
Come sit beside me in your way.
I see you every morning, outside the restaurants,
The music plays so nonchalant.
Lonely days, lonely nights.
Where would I be without my woman?
Lonely days, lonely nights.
Where would I be without my woman?
Good morning mister sunshine,
you brighten up my day.
Come sit beside me in your way.
Lonely days, lonely nights.
Where would I be without my woman?
Lonely days, lonely nights.
Where would I be without my woman?

a tune by a really cool little brittish band

Caught By The Fuzz
Supergrass

Caught by the fuzz,
Well I was, still on a buzz,
In the back of the van,
With my head in my hands,
Just like a bad dream,
I was, only fifteen,

If only my brother could be here now,
He'd get me out and sort me out alright,
I know I should have stayed at home tonight,

Locked in a cell,
Feeling un-well,
I talked to a man,
He said, It's better to tell,
'Who sold you the blow?'
'Well it was no-one I know.'
If only you'd tell us, we'd let you go,
We'll make it hard for you my son, so tell us what you know.
We'll make you wish you'd stayed at home tonight,

(Ooh____________ wah ooh____ wah ooh.)_________

Here comes my mum,
Well she, she knows what I've done,
'Just tell them the truth,
You know where it's from,
You've blackened our name,
Well you, you should be ashamed,
If only your father could see you now,
He'd break down, and he'd throw you out for sure.
I never should have let you out tonight.'

__(Tonight,) tonight, (tonight,) tonight, (tonight,) tonight,
(tonight,) tonight, (tonight.)

a different sort of love song

The Mayor of Simpleton
XTC

Never been near a university,
Never took a paper or a learned degree,
And some of your friends think that's stupid of me,
But it's nothing that I care about.

Well I don't know how to tell the weight of the sun,
And of mathematics well I want none,
And I may be the Mayor of Simpleton,
But I know one thing,
And that's I love you.
When their logic grows cold and all thinking gets done,
You'll be warm in the arms of the Mayor of Simpleton.

I can't have been there when brains were handed round
(please be upstanding for the Mayor of Simpleton),
Or get past the cover of your books profound,
(please be upstanding for the Mayor of Simpleton),
And some of your friends thinks it's really unsound,
That you're ever seen talking to me.

Well I don't know how to write a big hit song,
And all crossword puzzles well I just shun,
And I may be the Mayor of Simpleton,
But I know one thing,
And that's I love you.

I'm not proud of the fact that I never learned much,
Just feel I should say,
what you get is all real,
I can't put on an act,
It takes brains to do that anyway. (And anyway...)

And I can't unravel riddles, problems and puns,
How the home computer has me on the run,
And I may be the Mayor of Simpleton,
But I know one thing,
And that's I love you (I love you).

If depth of feeling is a currency,
(please be upstanding for the Mayor of Simpleton),
Then I'm the man who grew the money tree,
(no Chain of Office and no hope of getting one).
Some of your friends are too brainy to see,
That they're paupers and that's how they'll stay.

Well I don't know how many pounds make up a ton,
Of all the Nobel prizes that I've never won,
And I may be the Mayor of Simpleton,
But I know one thing,
And that's I love you.

When all logic grows cold and all thinking gets done,
You'll be warm in the arms of the Mayor of Simpleton.
You'll be warm in the arms of the Mayor of Simpleton.
You'll be warm in the arms of the Mayor.
(Please be upstanding for the Mayor of Simpleton.)

*******************************************

my favourite sentiment from the song

If depth of feeling is a currency,
(please be upstanding for the Mayor of Simpleton),
Then I'm the man who grew the money tree,
(no Chain of Office and no hope of getting one).
Some of your friends are too brainy to see,
That they're paupers and that's how they'll stay.

Ah, folks, the diversity of music. Love it all.

edgar, the Bee Gees I know. Thanks, Texas, and dj. The Mayor of Simpleton is one with which I can identify. Incidentally, Canada. Do you know the origin of the word "fuzz"?

From the Bee Gees, the House of Shame:

First you say you needed me,
then you give me sympathy,
they say good girls never win,
something good in giving in
how do I get through to you?
You must be made of stone.

VERSE 2:
Just when I was safe and sound
Love you built a wall around
You take a hard line attitude
Time to send me back to school
Or take me, take me to your
house of shame,
easy on your body when you got no name.

Hold me like you know me,
I'm a falling star,
catch me if you can,
show me the way inside.

VERSE 3:
You can knock on any door
I know what I'm looking for
Red light, hit and run
Time to turn the engine on
Pretty girl lives all alone
I must be goin' home.

VERSE 4:
Hot as hell and cold as ice
Everything I sacrifice
I got to pick up on what you do
I just can't get over you
You take me, take me to your
house of shame,
easy on your body when you got no name.

Hold me like you know me,
I'm a falling star,
catch me if you can,
show me the way inside.

Tell me what you really want from life,
loving you darling,
you got me infatuated,
good love is not for sale,
I nearly gave myself away.

Pretty girl lives all alone,
take me to your, take me to your
house of shame,
easy on your body when you got no name.

Hold me like you know me,
I'm a falling star,
catch me if you can,
show me the way inside.

House of Shame
Easy on the body when you've got no name

Hold me like you know me
I'm a falling star
Catch me if you can
Show me the way inside

(repeat last verse 2 times and fade out)

good evening !
had a wonderful ( LAZY !) day in the garden .
picked and ate lots of raspberries and currants - with a little icecream and cheesecake on the side to make the whole experience more rewarding Very Happy . hbg

since we watched a program on gold mining earlier this week , here is the ...

Prospector Polka

There's a little guy I know, who spends all day just huntin' gold
And he loves to dance the polka cowboy style
Snowy beard and turned up hat, taps his toe this way and that
Keeping time to happy music all the while
He was born in Pennsylvania but came West when just a lad
To stake a claim and mine that yella gold
With a shovel and a pick and a happy polka kick
He's the best at finding nuggets so I'm told

He's Pete, the Old Prospector, a happy little elf
And when he hears a squeezebox play he just can't help himself
With a pickax for a partner he dances o'er the plains
He pans for gold and polkas up and down the rolling range

With his bag of mining tools and the big ole long-eared mule
He's off at dawn upon his golden quest
If you see him say "Hello" Pete's a fellow you should know
He's a polka dancin' champion of the West

He's Pete the Old Prospector, a happy little elf
And when he hears a squeezebox play he just can't help himself
With his pickax for a partner he dances o'er the plains
He pans for gold and polkas up and down the rolling range

He's Pete the Old Prospector, champion of the rolling range

Diamond'S Are A Girl'S Best Friend
----------------------------------------

The French are glad to die for love,

A kiss on the hand may be,quite continental,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend
A kiss may be grand but it, won't pay the rental on your humble flat
Or help you feed your, pussy cat

Men grow cold as, girl's grow old
And we all lose are charms in the end
But square cut or pear shaped
These rocks don't lose, their shape

Diamond's are a girl's best friend

Tiffany's................Cartdier

Cos we are living in a material world,
And I am a material girl

*kisses the crowd*

(spoken) come and get me boys!
Black star, ross core

TALK TO ME HARRY SIDLER AND TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT!

There may come a time when a, lass needs a lawyer
-but diamond's are a girls best friend
There may come a time when, hard boiled employer thinks your up all night,
But get that ice or else no dice

He's your boy when, stocks are high
But beware when they start to decend

Diamonds are a girl's best
Diamonds are a girl's best
Diamonds are a girl's best-

Talking from the film in background

Cos thats when those louses go back to their spouses
Diamonds, are a, girl's, best, Friend!

The Saucy Sailor Boy
-------------------------
He was a saucy sailor boy who'd come from afar
To ask a maid to be the bride of a poor Jack tar

The maiden a poor fisher girl stood close by his side
With scornful look she answered thus I'll not be your bride

You're mad to think I'd marry you too ragged you are
Be gone you saucy sailor boy be gone you Jack tar

I've money in my pocket love and bright gold in store
These clothes of mine are all in rags but coin can buy more

Though black my hands my gold is clean so I'll sail afar
A fairer maid than you I ween will wed this Jack tar

Stay Stay you saucy sailor boy do not sail afar
I love you and will marry you you silly Jack tar

'Twas but to tease I answered so I thought you could guess
That when a maiden answers no she always means yes

Be gone you pretty fisher girl too artful are you
So spoke the saucy sailor boy gone was her Jack tar
