Well, there's our Raggedy, right on the heels of the hawk. Perfect timing, PA. Thanks for the great montage. I think we recognize most of them.
We all know by now how things have changed via computers, Bob, but thanks for the funny reminders.
I guess I can play Beautiful Dreamer now.
his last song
Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me.
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight, have all pass'd away!
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng.
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea.
Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn,
Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn' on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Well, folks. I never realized how lovely those lyrics were until now.

Breaking news:
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Discovery's astronauts arrived at the launch pad Tuesday morning for the first liftoff of a space shuttle on Independence Day. After a day of inspections and debates over safety following the discovery of a crack in the foam insulation of the shuttle's fuel tank, officials decided the launch was a go.
The six U.S. astronauts waved small American flags, and European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Reiter gripped a tiny German banner, as they walked out to the astro van, which drove them to the launch pad.
"Way to go! Hi mom! I love you!" astronaut Mike Fossum said as he dressed in his neon orange spacesuit, giving a thumbs up.
Inspectors spotted the 5-inch crack in the foam on Monday. A 3-inch piece of foam also popped out of the area, which covers an expandable bracket holding a liquid oxygen feed line against the huge external fuel tank.
But after several hours of inspections and meetings, officials decided to continue with the launch as planned. NASA administrator Michael Griffin said Tuesday that the crack wasn't a major concern and that cameras were trained on the area so if ice built up after the super-cold fuel was added, the launch could be delayed.
"We establish days, weeks, months in advance the criteria that we have to meet in order to be able to launch. If we don't meet them, we stand down," meaning the shuttle doesn't launch, Griffin told NBC's "Today" show.
Photographs taken Monday night by an inspection team, using a tiny camera that can be manipulated into tight spaces, showed no further foam damage in the area.
"The piece that fell off took the debris with it," team leader Jeff Rowell said. "The area looked pretty clean."
One hour until countdown, folks. Talk about sky rockets!

"Warm Your Heart" Lyrics - Aaron Neville
Well, we're all searching for peace of mind
Love in this world is hard to find
Come close to me, hold my hand
And warm your heart
Only a true love can satisfy
Open your arms and close your eyes
Walk with me, hold my hand
And warm your heart
Well, you're the reason for the way I'm feeling
Cause I've never felt this way before
I want to make you oh, so happy
That's all I'm living for
Just sorrow, yes, you should know
We need each other
When lights are low
Stay with me, hold my hand
And warm your heart
Well, you're the reason for the way I'm feeling
Cause I've never felt this way before
I want to make you oh, so happy
That's all I'm living for
So come to me and make things right
I'll keep you happy both day and night
Stay with me, hold my hand
And warm your heart

Ah, there's our butterfly. Welcome back, Auzzie. I appreciate the line in your song which says, "hold my hand". Just because we're all grown up and sefl sufficient doesn't mean that we don't need a firm hand to steer us through the hard times, right? In looking through our vast audience, I find that some are providing the stones which cause....
The Ripple Effect
By Jason Wise
Life,
Like time,
Changes,
Never bothering
To stay the same.
And these differences
Stir the very waters
Of our souls,
Sometimes catching us
Half in,
And half out,
Part frozen,
Part open;
An action
Uncontrolled,
Or an unfolding
Of expectation.
The surface turns,
Rippling,
Waking from the slumber
Of what has been,
And what never will be,
Again.

My brother, who does many kinds of art, including the covers for my work, is an accomplished comic strip artist. He and a writer have just sold a strip which has potential to be very big in Europe. I won't betray his privacy by giving out further information, but, I am very excited for him - had to share it.

Oh, edgar. We are happy for him as well. It is so wonderful to hear something really positive.
For your brother and his exciting pen:
Song: Put On A Happy Face Lyrics
Gray skies are gonna clear up,
Put on a happy face;
Brush off the clouds and cheer up,
Put on a happy face.
Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy,
It's not your style;
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
Ya' decide to smile!
Pick out a pleasant outlook,
Stick out that noble chin;
Wipe off that "full of doubt" look,
Slap on a happy grin!
And spread sunshine all over the place,
Just put on a happy face!
Put on a happy face
Put on a happy face
And if you're feeling cross and bitterish
Don't sit and whine
Think of banana split and licorice
And you'll feel fine
I knew a girl so glooming
She'd never laugh or sing
She wouldn't listen to me
Now she's a mean old thing
So spread sunshine all over the place
Just put on a happy face
So, put on a happy face

Edgar, that is good news, do let us know when and what publication in due time.
I can't resist another little tune to remind the Brits who won.
State Of Independence
(From the album "CHANGE WE MUST")
JON ANDERSON Lyrics
State of life, may I live, may I love
Coming out of the sky I name me a name
Coming up silver word for what it is
It is the very nature of the sound of the game
Siamese, Indonesia to Tibet
Treat the life as a game if you please
Coming up Caribbean sense of freedom
Derives from a meditative state
Moving on, believe that's it
Call it magic Third World
It is, I only guessed it
Shah blam ee dee
Shah blam ee dah
Shot to the soul
The flame of Aura'ladin
The essence of the word
The state of independence
Sound like a signal from you
Bring me to meet your sound
And I will bring you to my heart
Love like a signal you call
Touching my body, my soul
Bring to me, you to meet me here
Home be the temple of your heart
Home be the body of your love
Just like holy water to my lips
Yes, I do know how I survive
Yes, I do know why I'm alive
To love and be with you
Day by day by day by day
Say yea yea yea yo
Yea yea yea yo
Be the sound of higher than today
Time again it is said we will hear
We will see it all in this wisdom here
This truth will abound the land
The state of independence shall be

You're right, Try. I guess we do need to rub it in. <smile> Liked that song, buddy. Hey, anyone know about the second war for independence?
Well, it's all over now, folks, so I guess we don't need to worry, but it seems that Van does.
(Traditional)
Oh it takes a worried man, sing a worried song
Takes a worried man, come sing a little worried song
Well it takes a worried man to sing a worried song
I'm worried now, won't be worried long
I went down to the riverside and I laid me down to sleep
Went down to the riverside, laid me down to sleep, Lord
A-well I went down to the riverside, laid me down to sleep
When I woke up there were shackles on both-a my feet
Hit it!
(Chorus)
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
It takes a worried man (come) to sing a worried song
Yeah, it takes a worried man, yeah, to sing a worried song
I'm worried now but I won't be worried long
Worry for me!
(Instrumental)
I said, "Judge (judge) judge, what's a-gonna be my fine?"
I said, "Judge (judge) judge (judge) tell me what's gonna be my fine?
I said, "Judge (judge) judge (judge) tell me what's gonna be my fine?
He said, "Twenty-one years (oh) on that old Rock Island Line
Oh well it takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
Takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
Yeah, it takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
I'm worried now, but I won't be worried long
Sing it one more time!
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song, my Lord
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song

Fame & Fortune
Elvis Presley
(words & music by fred wise - ben weisman)
Fame and fortune
How empty they can be
But when I hold you in my arms
That's heaven to me
Who cares for fame and fortune
They're only passing things
But the touch of your lips on mine
Makes me feel like a king
Your kind of love
Is a treasure I hold
It's so much greater
Than silver or gold
I know that I have nothing
If you should go away
But to know that you love me
Brings fame and fortune my way

hey, Texas. I guess it doesn't hurt to have fame and forturne; not certain that I would turn it down, but Tony might have an answer as well:
I know I'd go from rags to riches
If you would only say you cared
And though my pockets may be empty
I'd be a millionaire
My clothes may still be torn and tattered
But in my heart I'd be a king
Your love is all that ever mattered
It's everything
So open your arms and you'll open the door
To all the treasure that I'm living for
Hold me and kiss me and tell me you're mine evermore
Must I forever stay a beggar
Whose golden dreams will not come true
Or will I go from rags to riches
My fate is up to you.
Speaking of "King" (no, not George) Elvis did that one, too.

Edith Piaf ... "no, life isn't sad" ... although Germany just lost
Non, la vie n'est pas triste
Et le bonheur existe.
Il suffirait de tendre la main.
Tu trouverais combien de copains.
Il suffirait d'un tout petit rien
Et tu verrais, tout irait très bien.
Mais voilà,
Tu te plais comme ça.
Tu te plais, c'est ça,
A te déchirer
Et tu veux te laisser guider.
Tu peux tout changer,
Toi, le tourmenté.
Vois, dans les yeux des filles,
Vois, comme le soleil brille.
Ecoute-moi et puis tu verras,
Ecoute-moi et tout changera.
Regarde bien, tu seras surpris
Car jusqu'alors tu n'as rien compris.
Tant d'amour
Et tant de beaux jours
Sont tout près de toi
Mais tu restes sourd
Et tes yeux
Ne voient pas le bleu,
Ne voient pas le ciel
Ni les amoureux,
Mais, essaie donc quand même.
Aime, si tu veux qu'on t'aime.

Ah, Walter, how dear. We are not what we play in the sports arena, are we. Can't translate a word of that, but I do know it must have been for our Francis. Hope he is alive and well and living under Paris skies.
My Irish friend once said about American football.
Letty, it's just another Roman circus.
Now from Miss Peggy Lee:
IS THAT ALL THERE IS?
Peggy Lee
SPOKEN:
I remember when I was a very little girl, our house caught on fire.
I'll never forget the look on my father's face as he gathered me up
in his arms and raced through the burning building out to the pavement.
I stood there shivering in my pajamas and watched the whole world go up in flames.
And when it was all over I said to myself, "Is that all there is to a fire?"
SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is
SPOKEN:
And when I was 12 years old, my father took me to the circus, the greatest show on earth.
There were clowns and elephants and dancing bears
And a beautiful lady in pink tights flew high above our heads.
And as I sat there watching the marvelous spectacle
I had the feeling that something was missing.
I don't know what, but when it was over,
I said to myself, "Is that all there is to a circus?"
SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is
SPOKEN:
Then I fell in love, with the most wonderful boy in the world.
We would take long walks by the river or just sit for hours gazing into each other's eyes.
We were so very much in love.
Then one day, he went away. And I thought I'd die -- but I didn't.
And when I didn't I said to myself, "Is that all there is to love?"
SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
SPOKEN:
I know what you must be saying to yourselves.
If that's the way she feels about it why doesn't she just end it all?
Oh, no. Not me. I'm in no hurry for that final disappointment.
For I know just as well as I'm standing here talking to you,
when that final moment comes and I'm breathing my lst breath, I'll be saying to myself,
SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is

SHERYL CROW LYRICS
"Always By Your Side"
My yesterdays are all boxed up and neatly put away
But every now and then you come to mind
Cause you were always waiting to be picked to play the game
But when your name was called, you found a place to hide
When you knew that I was always on your side
Well everything was easy then, so sweet and innocent
But my demons and my angels reappeared
Leavin' all the traces of the man you thought I'd be
Too afraid to hear the words I'd always feared
Leavin' you with only questions all these years
But is there someplace far away, someplace where all is clear
Easy to start over with the ones you hold so dear
Or are you left to wonder, all alone, eternally
This isn't how it's really meant to be
No it isn't how it's really meant to be
Well they say that love is in the air, but never is it clear,
How to pull it close and make it stay
Butterflies are free to fly, and so they fly away
And I'm left to carry on and wonder why
Even through it all, I'm always by your side

Perfect, Try. That song is miniature philosophy. "picked to play the game; then find a place to hide." That probably explains the difference between tenacity and shyness. Thanks, buddy.
I have learned to value the lesser things in life and for some reason, I found this poem without looking:
Robert William Service - Second Childhood
When I go on my morning walk,
Because I'm mild,
If I be in the mood to talk
I choose a child.
I'd rather prattle with a lass
Of tender age
Than converse in the high-brow class
With college sage.
I love the touch of silken hand
That softly clings;
In old of age I understand
Life's little things.
I love the lisp of tiny tongue
And trusting eyes;
These are the joys that keep me young
As daylight dies.
For as to second childhood I
Draw gently near,
With happy heart I see the why
Children are dear.
So wise Professor, go your way,--
I am beguiled
To wistful loving by the gay
Laugh of a child.

Good Morning everyone!
Hope y'all had a great 4th of July.
Continuing the Bruce theme: A special song for a special person.
Artist: Bruce Springsteen Lyrics
Song: Secret Garden Lyrics
She'll let you in her house
If you come knockin' late at night
She'll let you in her mouth
If the words you say are right
If you pay the price
She'll let you deep inside
But there's a secret garden she hides
She'll let you in her car
To go drivin' round
She'll let you into the parts of herself
That'll bring you down
She'll let you in her heart
If you got a hammer and a vise
But into her secret garden, don't think twice
You've gone a million miles
How far'd you get
To that place where you can't remember
And you can't forget
She'll lead you down a path
There'll be tenderness in the air
She'll let you come just far enough
So you know she's really there
She'll look at you and smile
And her eyes will say
She's got a secret garden
Where everything you want
Where everything you need
Will always stay
A million miles away

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors. I don't think, folks, that I have seen a tamer celebration of Independence Day here in Florida. I was expecting to be kept awake by flares and traditional noises, and it was really too quiet. <smile>
Well, Sarah, That's a nice song by Bruce. Everyone has a secret garden, I suppose. Unfortunately, my not so secret garden is only bedecked by two red hibiscus and one bird of paradise. Hey, I'll take it. It's nice, dear, that you have someone special. That fills the gap, no?
Here's some disgusting news, folks. Do you know that gamblers are actually betting on what hurricanes will hit Florida this season? Yuk!
How about a little Kenny Rogers, then.
On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness
til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.
He said, son, Ive made a life out of readin peoples faces,
And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you dont mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice.
So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, if youre gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.
You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.
Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin
Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.
So when hed finished speakin, he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.
You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.
You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count you r money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

Before I turn in, I would like to wish the rest of the world a very good morning, I will finish my day with:
Independence Day (Original version)
MELANIE CHISHOLM
I'm not thinking about ya
I'm happy without ya
No matter what they say
This is my Independence
They say it's a small small world
But you're a million miles away
Wishing on that same bright star
I shouldn't wish my life away
Without you the night still falls
And I know the sun will rise
The truth is that life goes on
Sure as oceans pull the tide
We've got forever baby
We just haven't got tonight
Aww baby!
Not thinking about ya
I'm happy without ya
No matter what my friends say
You're not my one and only
I ain't feeling lonely
This is my Independence Day
My Independence Day
I guess we've made mistakes
And we'll just have to live and learn
Cause I've got no regrets
It doesn't mean that I don't burn
The sands of time still fall
No matter what they say
Too many sad goodbyes
I can't dwell on yesterday
We've got forever baby
We got as long as it feels right
Aww baby!
