I got a bit confused. Here is the one Bing and the Andrews Sisters did.

DON'T FENCE ME IN
(Cole Porter)

This was a monster hit for Bing and the Andrews Sisters during World War II. Bing entered the studio on July 25, 1944, without having seen nor heard the song. Within 30 minutes he recorded the song, which then sold more than a million copies and topped the Billboard charts for 8 weeks in 1944-45.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.
Ba boo ba ba boo.

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
No.
Poppa, don't you fence me in

ah, edgar. Lots of land. Here in Florida land is more expensive than the house that is built on it.

Well, listeners, a rather weary Letty must sign off for the evening.

To all here, goodnight with lots of love.

Speaking of Ella Mae Morse:

The Blacksmith Blues - Ella Mae Morse

[Written by Jack Holmes]

Down in old Kentucky
Where horseshoes are lucky
There's a village smithy
Standin' under the chestnut tree
Hear the hammer knockin'
See the anvil rockin'
He sings the boogie blues
While he's hammerin' on the shoes
See the hot sparks a-flyin'
Like Fourth of July-in'
He's even got the horses cloppin'
Pop, down the avenue
Folks love the rhythm
The clang-bangin' rhythm
You'll get a lot o' kicks
Out of the blacksmith blues

the second last song for the weekday, and i thought i'd liven things up with a song from the cure

oh, that it were true

Friday I'm in Love

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate...

I don't care if Mondays black
Tuesday, Wednesday - heart attack
Thursday, never looking back
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday, you can hold your head
Tuesday, Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday - watch the walls instead
It's Friday, I'm in love

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate...

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday, I'm in love

I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Jerry Lee Lewis > When i get paid

Oh well, I work hard every day
Can't hardly wait to draw my pay
It's Monday mornin' and I'm on the job
Do the same old thing, a-just workin' hard
Mmmm, Tuesday evening I'm at it again
I ain't had no rest since I don't know when
Wednesday mornin', I can't hardly see
Man, this work is killin' me
Thursday morning, I just can make it
Well, I don't know how long this boy can take it

Friday! I sing tonight. Let me warm up with a song sung by the Sons of the Pioneers.

Tumbling Tumbleweeds

See them tumbling down,
Pledging their love to the ground!
Lonely, but free, I'll be found,
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds . . .

Cares of the past are behind,
Nowhere to go, but I'll find,
Just where the trail will wind,
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds . . .

I know when night is gone,
That a new world's born at dawn!
I'll keep rolling along,
Deep in my heart as a song,
Here on the range I belong,
Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds . . .

( Tumbleweeds, tumbleweeds!
See them tumbling down,
Pledging their love to the ground! )
Lonely, but free, I'll be found,
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds . . .

I know ( I Know! ) when night is gone ( hmmm . . . )
That a new world's born at dawn!
I'll keep rolling along,
Deep in my heart as a song,
Here on the range I belong,
( Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds . . . )
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds . . .
( Tumbleweeds, tumbleweeds . . . )
Tumble . . . weeds . . .

Good morning, fans and listeners. We have resurrected some golden oldies and one that is new to me, dj, but nevertheless, a great tune. Is it Friday already? edgar, that blacksmith has a familiar ring to it. <smile>

Bob, you're sounding good and in voice. What fun you must have! I was thinking of Bob Nolan's "Water".

Unfortunately, for me, today is tax day. As usual, I must gather all my paper stuff and trudge to my CPA hoping that things will go well with Sam.

Carry on, and sing a song for me.

Well folks Letty speaks, Bob listens. At her request here's Burl Ives singing Bob Nolan's Cool Water.

Cool Water
Words & Music By:
Bob Nolan

All day I faced the barren waste
Without the taste of water
Cool water
Old Dan and I with throats burned dry
And souls that cry for water
Cool, clear water

Keep a-movin', Dan, don't you listen to him, Dan
He's a devil not a man
and he spreads the burning sand
With water

Dan can you see that big green tree
Where the water's runnin' free
And it's waiting there for me and you

The nights are cool and I'm a fool
Each star's a pool of water
Cool water
But with the dawn I'll wake and yawn
And carry on
To water
Cool, clear water

Keep a-movin', Dan, don't you listen to him, Dan
He's a devil not a man
And he spreads the burning sand
With water

Dan can you see that big green tree
Where the water's runnin' free
And it's waiting there for me and you

The shadows sway and seem to say
Tonight we pray for water
Cool water
And way up there He'll hear our prayer
And show us where
There's water
Cool, clear water

Keep a-movin', Dan, don't you listen to him, Dan
He's the devil not a man
and he spreads the burning sand
With water

Dan can you see that big green tree
Where the water's runnin' free
And it's waiting there for me and you

Dan's feet are sore
He's yearning for
Just one thing more than water
Like me, I guess he'd like to rest
Where there's no quest
For water
Cool, clear water

Oh, my goodness, listeners, eoe has stolen stuff and the Georgia gendarmes will take her away before she gets to do her cruise! Razz

Raggedy, Caruso and Renoir in the same breath. Ah, those Italian pipes and the artist of the fuzzy paintings.

I tried watching Lawerence of Arabia last night, but found that the violence depressed me. Peter O'Toole was incredibly alluring, however.

Well, I have all my tax stuff together, and must make that trip to Orpheus and the underworld.

Lovely, Bob. And can you believe that the planet is most endangered by a dwindling supply of water compromised by an ever increasing population?

Let's focus here. There's a dwindling supply of fresh water. Why not find a resourceful way to purify salt water and there should be no problem. Lots of that around.

Bob, when we did our RVin, the campground water was a result of reverse osmosis.

YUK!

"roll on thou deep and dark blue ocean, roll.
Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain.
Man marks the earth with ruin,
His control stops at the shore."

If Byron had only foreseen the oil rigs, he would have lost his inspiration.
