Well, listeners, all that praise brought Francis back into our lair. <smile>
And where are you today, Paris?
I'm afraid that Ellpus didn't get our allusion to Cyrano, however. <smile>

Inspired once again by the Connect the picture forum:
Artist: Lyrics
Song: The Rum Tum Tugger Lyrics
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat
If you offer me pheasant I'd rather have grouse
If you put me in a house I would much prefer a flat
If you put me in a flat then I'd rather have a house
If you set me on a mouse then I only want a rat
If you set me on a rat then I'd rather chase a mouse
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat
And there isn't any call for me to shout it
For he will do as he do do
And there's no doing anything about it!
The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore
When you let me in, then I want to go out
I'm always on the wrong side of every door
And as soon as I'm at home, then I'd like to get about
I like to lie in the bureau drawer
But I make such a fuss if I can't get out
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious cat
And it isn't any use for you to doubt it
For he will do as he do do
And there's no doing anything about it!
Who, listeners, wrote that, and NOT the cat in the hat. <smile>

Barcelona
Words and music by Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran
Barcelona Barcelona
Barcelona Barcelona
Viva
I had this perfect dream
-Un sueno me envolvio
This dream was me and you
-Tal vez estas aqui
I want all the world to see
-Un instinto me guiaba
A miracle sensation
My guide and inspiration
Now my dream is slowly coming true
The wind is a gentle breeze
-El me hablo de ti
The bells are ringing out
-El canto vuela
They're calling us together
Guiding us forever
Wish my dream would never go away
Barcelona - It was the first time that we met
Barcelona - How can I forget
The moment that you stepped into the room you took my breath away
Barcelona - La musica vibros
Barcelona - Y ella nos unio
And if God willing we will meet again someday
Let the songs begin
-Dejalo nacer
Let the music play
-Ahhhhhhhh...
Make the voices sing
-Nace un gran amor
Start the celebration
-Van a mi
And cry
-Grita
Come alive
-Vive
And shake the foundations from the skies
Ah,Ah,Shaking all our lives
Barcelona - Such a beautiful horizon
Barcelona - Like a jewel in the sun
Por ti sere gaviota de tu bella mar

If God is willing

ah, Try. My sister went to Spain. She loved it. I used to have a shawl made of lace that she brought back to her baby sister. I still have the small wooden carving of a monk in a cowl.
Thank God that song wasn't lost in translation, buddy.

snoods joke about dear abby made me think of this tune
Dear Abby
John Prine
Dear Abby, Dear Abby ...
My feet are too long
My hair's falling out and my rights are all wrong
My friends they all tell me that I've no friends at all
Won't you write me a letter, Won't you give me a call
Signed Bewildered
Bewildered, Bewildered...
You have no complaint
You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't
So listen up Buster, and listen up good
Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood
Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
My fountain pen leaks
My wife hollers at me and my kids are all freaks
Every side I get up on is the wrong side of bed
If it weren't so expensive I'd wish I were dead
Signed Unhappy
Unhappy, Unhappy...
You have no complaint
You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't
So listen up Buster, and listen up good
Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood
Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
You won't believe this
But my stomach makes noises whenever I kiss
My girlfriend tells me It's all in my head
But my stomach tells me to write you instead
Signed Noise-maker
Noise-maker, Noise-maker
You have no complaint
You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't
So listen up Buster, and listen up good
Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood
Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
Well I never thought
That me and my girlfriend would ever get caught
We were sitting in the back seat just shooting the breeze
With her hair up in curlers and her pants to her knees
Signed Just Married
Just Married, Just Married...
You have no complaint
You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't
So listen up Buster, and listen up good
Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood
Signed Dear Abby

I think they named a road after Abby.
The Show Must Go On
Words and music by Queen
Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on
Does anybody know what we are looking for
Another hero another mindless crime
Behind the curtain in the pantomime
Hold the line
Does anybody want to take it anymore
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
Whatever happens I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache another failed romance
On and on
Does anybody know what we are living for
I guess I'm learning
I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on - yeah
Ooh inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
Yeah, oh oh oh
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on - yeah
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On with the show
I'll top the bill
I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the
On with the show
The show must go on, go on, go on, go on, ...

Yes, that was a funny Abby it was dj. and that song is perfect for it, Canada. Thanks.
Right, Try. There's no business like show business, buddy.
and speaking of lanes:
Beatles - Penny Lane Lyrics
In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs
Of every head he's had the pleasure to know.
And all the people that come and go
Stop and say hello.
On the corner is a banker with a motorcar,
The little children laugh at him behind his back.
And the banker never wears a mack
In the pouring rain, very strange.
Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back
In penny Lane there is a fireman with an hourglass
And in his pocket is a portrait of the Queen.
He likes to keep his fire engine clean,
It's a clean machine.
Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
A four of fish and finger pies
In summer, meanwhile back
Behind the shelter in the middle of a roundabout
The pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray
And tho' she feels as if she's in a play
She is anyway.
In Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer,
We see the banker sitting waiting for a trim.
And then the fireman rushes in
From the pouring rain, very strange.
Penny lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back.
Penny lane is in my ears and in my eyes.
There beneath the blue suburban skies,
Penny Lane.

These Are The Days Of Our Lives
Words and music by Queen
Sometimes I get to feelin'
I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids when we were young
Thing seemed so perfect - you know
The days were endless we were crazy we were young
The sun was always shinin' - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don't know
The rest of my life's been just a show
Those were the days of our lives
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing is true
When I look and I find I still miss you
You can't turn back the clock you can't turn back the tide
Ain't that a shame
I'd like to go back one time on a roller coaster ride
When life was just a game
No use in sitting and thinkin' on what you did
When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don't know
Better sit back and go with the flow
Cos these are the days of our lives
They've flown in the swiftness of time
These days are all gone now but some things remain
When I look and I find no change
Those were the days of our lives - yeah
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true
When I look and I find
I am still thinking of you

Machine
Violent Femmes
I got a machine
And I took over the world
In one weekend
I took over the world
With my machine
I did it because
I was looking for a project
And it was either
Take over the world or learn French
So I took over the world
And next weekend
I can learn French
I got a machine
And I took over the world
I got a machine
And I took over the world
But nothing changed
Nothing changed
I got a machine
And I took over the world
I got a machine
And I took over the world

since we had Penny Lane, how bout some Frankie Laine?
Mr. Turtle, I had no idea that Frankie did that one. Clint Eastwood's start in life, I think. He was rowdy back then, but he got rowdier.
dj, that was funnnnneeeeee. Violent women? Love it, Canada.
Well, listeners, they have more than just coffee in Brazil, I fear.
From Queen:
Queen
» Another One Bites The Dust
Steve walks warily down the street,
with the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,
machine guns ready to go
Are you ready, Are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
How do you think I'm going to get along,
without you, when you're gone
You took me for everything that I had,
and kicked me out on my own
Are you happy, are you satisfied
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
Chorus
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down
But I'm ready, yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
repeating the sound of the beat
news from Brazil:
SAO PAULO, Brazil - Police struck back Tuesday at gangs that rampaged through South America's largest city, killing 33 suspected gang members in less than 24 hours and frisking motorists at roadblocks while reporting only one death of their own. At least 133 people -- including 40 police officers -- have been killed since Friday night, when a prison transfer of gang leaders sparked attacks on police stations, courts, city buses and other symbols of government authority.

the wheel keeps turning
from frankie laine to denny laine, and a link to the beatles as well
Band On The Run
Paul McCartney & Wings
Stuck inside these four walls
Sent inside forever
Never seeing no one nice again like you
Mama you, mama you
If I ever get out of here
Thought of giving it all away
To a registered charity
All I need is a pint a day
If I ever get out of here
If we ever get out of here
Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun
And the first one said to the second one there
I hope you're having fun
Band on the run
Band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor sam
Were searching every one
For the band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh
Seeing no one else had come
And a bell was ringing in the village square
For the rabbits on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor sam
Were searching every one
For the band on the run
Band on the run
Yeah, the band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Well, the night was falling as the desert world
Began to settle down
In the town they're searching for us every where
But we never will be found
Band on the run
Band on the run
And the county judge who held a grudge
Will search for evermore
For the band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run

Speaking of wheels, folks. This one is for edgar:
Harry Belafonte Lyrics - Ezekiel (Saw The Wheel) Lyrics
Ezekiel saw the wheel, way up in the middle of the air,
Ezekiel saw the wheel, way in the middle of the air,
The big wheel run by faith, little wheel run by the grace of God
Wheel within a wheel, 'way in the middle of the air,
Wheel, wheel, wheel, wheel in the middle of the air.
Wheel, wheel, wheel, wheel in the middle of the air

here is a "true canadian song" - by the "arrogant worms" (what could be a more canadian name ?)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Canadian Crisis Song
------The Arrogant Worms
Often on the weekend I'll jump in my car
I won't fill up the tank although I'm going far
And if somebody asks me if I'm going to a bar
I'll say I'm shopping 'cross the border in the USA
I don't go down there to buy my groceries
I respect our farmers and our factories
I don't believe that "local" means it's poor in quality
It's just our goddamn prices are too high
(If he stays away for just two days)
I'll get one hundred dollars duty-free
If it adds to more I won't claim it for
(He won't declare the products if they're in his trunk)
Although it is Canada that I call home
I don't cheer for the Yankees when I'm in the Dome
I didn't swell with pride during the Desert Storm
It's just that I don't want to pay the tax
(It's just that he's too cheap to pay the tax)
(Yes, it's just like this, he's a loyalist)
I'll only shop at malls that fly our flag
(And he'll tell Bob Rae that he just won't pay)
Unless I need my unemployment benefits
(Get a job, get a job, get a job)
Now everyone is doing the same thing as me
They're doing what they can to beat the GST
They're lining up for miles at the Duty-Free
So I bought a JC Penny's store in Buffalo
(So everybody come on down to Buffalo)
(Cause if you stay away for just two days)
You'll get one hundred dollars duty-free
Though it's not at par it'll still go far
And it ends up in the pockets of a country man
(It ends up in the pockets of a country man)
Oh, Canada

Well, hamburger. I think we'll recognize that trio of arrogance should we encounter them, buddy.
There seems, my friend, to be a crisis everywhere, and that song was very into it.
An answer, listeners:
Niagara Falls - The paradise on earth, by Rakhi
Someone once told me, 'seeing is believing',
How pertinent that was, I found after exploring,
This artwork of nature, beauty sprinkled everywhere,
The raging river, the fretted fall, the magical mist, that I wish to share.
The white foamy flow,
the mighty wind that blows,
The sunshine is golden,
surely I can say, my heart is stolen!
The rainbow that joins, the heaven to this earth,
The beauty I feel, is in no way dearth,
So much of joy, so much of pleasure,
This lovely sight does have to offer.
The 'maid of the mist', lets you meet it face to face,
The gusts, the downdrafts, can't help but blaze,
'Journey behind the falls', leaves you dazed,
With the beauty, enigma and the amazing grace
The gush of water, is though fierce and harsh,
falling down with so much of splash!
But as it descends, the resplendence is endless,
Down as it reaches, it turns into an angel!
This is the moral, it bestows upon us,
Whatever pinnacle we may achieve, let us not loose our humility!

cries of : "PLEASE ... please ... pls
allright , here goes ...
------------------------------------------------------
Team Canada
----------------
At your service from the land of the chill
If we can't thrill you baby nobody will
Make way, hear comes
Team Canada
Strong and Free
Lead by our fearless hero, Gretzky
He should be the Prime Minister if you ask me
Thank you
Team Canada
Well it's hush hush
3 man rush rush
Iginla, Sakik, and Lemieux
He shoot's he scores
And all of Canada roars
From the warmth of our igloos
Sorry Eh,
We put hurt on you team USA
And showed the world that it's still our game
Three Cheers for Team Canada
We'll slide and glide
Skate Over any line
red or white or blue
What makes it nice
Is that we did it twice
Cause our women beat you too
Gold at last
50 years sure took a long time to pass
so tip your hat or raise your glass
for the heroes of Team Canada
What a great game Team Canada
You did us proud Team Canada

Well, hamburger. I can't say that's much of a goodnight song, but BoGoWo called that game a ballet on ice. <smile>
Allow me to leave you with a brief anecdote.
Yesterday, I made two people smile.
One was a young East Indian boy who had to sweep up glass from the parking lot. I didn't leave until I got a slight but rather wry smile from him.
The other was one of my favorite black teenagers that works at Food Lion. He was standing by the ice machine. I shook a finger at him and what do you know, he smiled back at me.
Hey, even Gretzy would thaw through that mask, right?
Goodnight, my friends from around the world.
From Letty with love and a smile.

I've just had some French guy on the phone going on about a car or something. I really don't know what all these buttons are for, where are you?
When I Need You Lyrics
Celine Dion
When I need you
Just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you
It's only a heart beat away
When I need love
I hold out my hands and I touch love
I never knew there was so much love
Keeping me warm night and day
Miles and miles of empty space in between us
A telephone can't take the place of your smile
But you know I wont be traveling forever
It's cold out, but hold out and do like I do
When I need you
I just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you babe
It's only a heartbeat away
It's not easy when the road is your driver
Honey, that's a heavy load that we bear
But you know I won't be traveling a lifetime
It's cold out so hold out and do like I do
When I need you
When I need love
I hold out my hands and I touch love
I never knew there was so much love
Keeping me warm night and day
When I need you
Just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you
It's only a heart beat away
