Isn't that a great song! A nice tribute to your father, Letty.

This is a favorite George and Ira Gershwin number Fred and Ginger performed in "Shall We Dance" in 1937 and again in "The Barkley's of Broadway" twelve years later.

Our romance won't end on a sorrowful note,
Though by tomorrow you're gone;
The song is ended, but as the songwriter wrote,
The melody lingers on.
They may take you from me, I'll miss your fond caress.
But though they take you from me, I'll still possess.

The way you wear your hat
The way you sip your tea
The memory of all that
No, no, they can't take that away from me

The way your smile just beams
The way you sing off key
The way you haunt my dreams
No, no, they can't take that away from me

We may never, never meet again
On the bumpy road to love
Still, I'll always, always keep the memory of

The way you hold your knife
The way we danced till three
The way you changed my life
No, no, they can't take that away from me
No, they can't take that away from me

We may never, never meet again
On the bumpy road to love
Still, I'll always, always keep the memory of

The way you hold your knife
The way we danced till three
The way you changed my life
No, no, they can't take that away from me
No, they can't take that away
Can't take that away
Can't take that away from me

Good day radio fans.

One Vision
Words and music by Freddie Mercury,Brian May,Roger
Taylor and John Deacon

One man one goal one mission
One heart one soul just one solution
One flash of light yeah one god one vision

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One voice one hope
One real decision
Wowowowo gimme one vision

No wrong no right
I'm gonna tell you there's no black and no white
No blood no stain
All we need is one world wide vision

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One race one hope
One real decision
Wowowowo oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah

I had a dream
When I was young
A dream of sweet illusion
A glimpse of hope and unity
And visions of one sweet union
But a cold wind blows
And a dark rain falls
And in my heart it shows
Look what they've done to my dreams

So give me your hands
Give me your hearts
I'm ready
There's only one direction
One world one nation
Yeah one vision

No hate no fight
Just excitation
All through the night
It's a celebration wowowowo yeah

One one one one...
One vision...

One flesh one bone
One true religion
One voice one hope
One real decision

Gimme one light
Gimme one hope
Just gimme
One man one man
One bar one night
One day hey hey
Just gimme gimme gimme gimme
Fried chicken Laughing

Ah, Raggedy. I love that one as well. Thanks, gal.

Here's a bit of news about the stage. (no, not the four in hand type.)

Spacey opts for the familiar to end Old Vic's woes 2 hours, 33 minutes ago

LONDON (Reuters) - Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has opted for the safety of Shakespeare comedies and sure-fire hits in his attempt to revive the flagging fortunes of London's Old Vic theater.

Critics have turned on Spacey for what they see as a poor record at the helm of the famous London venue, and one questioned whether he should resign after Robert Altman's production of Arthur Miller's "Resurrection Blues" was panned.

News that the Old Vic would remain empty for five months in 2006 further increased pressure on the 46-year-old American.

The Oscar-winning star of "American Beauty" and "The Usual Suspects" told Reuters last month he intended to stay on as artistic director. He has committed to 10 years in the job.

"In the Old Vic tradition of celebrating great acting, big plays and a sense of event we're proud of the line-up we've assembled for our third season and beyond," Spacey said in a statement on Tuesday.

The next season begins with Eugene O'Neill's "A Moon for the Misbegotten," in which Spacey himself will perform.

A man of many talents, listeners.

I really wish I could get more air time here but for now I will just have to leave you with the more potent of my song choices. In this case quality and quantity are preferred I am sure, but unfortunately for now my time in limited. <hi Letty! & all>

Recently this band has basically blown me away. It's too bad they decided to call it quits. For the better I am sure. Enjoy~

BearvsShark "Antwan"

What left you blank, could leave you
restless out of breath
young princes slave the days away
your pennies save, and often spent
what has been lost has been received,
and lost in ceremony

She was a dancer for children
She has a chance for an exit
She was a builder of cities
He had the lips of a cobra

They carved your portrait into woods
our swords still under the sheets on T.V. screens and V.C.R.'s

She was a dancer for children
She has a chance for an exit
She was a builder of cities
He had the lips of a cobra

Calling all jungle boys the party's over
poaching won't get you nothing but death
on the roof of my mouth said on the roof of my mouth
to the bodies on the desert floor
grab handfuls of hair
pull to belly splits
splitting on a system that made you rich

She was a dancer for children
She has a chance for an exit
She was a builder of cities
He had the lips of a cobra

Words from your lips onto your tongue
all the novels that you read
all the useless information
words!
we throw them at each other
and mix them up together
to formulate an opinion without a second thought
my thoughts yours, your thoughts mine
we're just divided by, just divided by:
WORDS!!!
(I know why I'm talking will you leave the light on)

Well, folks. We all know that buffaloes do not have wings, but this poem came to mind as I sit here in time:

The Flower-Fed Buffaloes

The flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
In the days of long ago,
Ranged where the locomotives sing
And the prarie flowers lie low:
The tossing, blooming, perfumed grass
Is swept away by wheat,
Wheels and wheels and wheels spin by
In the spring that still is sweet.
But the flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
Left us long ago,
They gore no more, they bellow no more:--
With the Blackfeet lying low,
With the Pawnee lying low.

Talking about Buffalos…

Buffalo Skinners
Traditional, arranged by Arlo Guthrie

Come all you old time cowboys
And listen to my song
Please do not grow weary
I'll not detain you long
Concerning some wild cowboys
Who did agree to go
And spend the summer pleasant
On the range of the buffalo.

Well I found myself in Griffin
In eighteen eighty-three
When a man by the name of Creagho
Come a'walkin' up to me
Sayin "How do you do young fella
And how'd you like to go
And spend the summer pleasant
On the range of the buffalo".

Well me being out of work right then
To that drover I did say
"My goin' out on the buffalo range
Depends upon the pay
But if you pay good wages,
Transportation to and fro
I think I might go with you
On the range of the Buffalo".

Well yes I pay good wages
And transportation too
If you'll agree to work for me
Until the season's through
But if you do get homesick
And you try and run away
You'll starve to death out on the trail
And you'll also lose your pay

Well with all the flatterin' talkin'
He signed up quite a train
Some ten or twelve in number
Of able bodied men
And our trip it was a pleasant one
Through all New Mexico
Until we crossed Pease River
On the range of the buffalo

It was there our pleasures ended
And our troubles all begun
A lightnin' storm come up on us
And made the cattle run
We got full of the stickers
On the cactus that did grow
And the outlaws waited to pick us off
In the hills of Mexico

Well the working season ended
But the drover would not pay
He said "You spent your money boys
You're all in debt to me".
But the cowboys never put much stock
In a thing like a bankrupt law
So we left the bastard's bones to bleach
On the range of the buffalo.

On the same theme…

Bob Marley
Lyrics for: Buffalo Soldier

Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta:
There was a Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America,
Stolen from Africa, brought to America,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

I mean it, when I analyze the stench -
To me it makes a lot of sense:
How the Dreadlock Rasta was the Buffalo Soldier,
And he was taken from Africa, brought to America,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival.

Said he was a Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta -
Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America.

If you know your history,
Then you would know where you coming from,
Then you wouldn't have to ask me,
Who the 'eck do I think I am.

I'm just a Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America,
Stolen from Africa, brought to America,
Said he was fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Said he was a Buffalo Soldier win the war for America.

Dreadie, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,

Buffalo Soldier troddin' through the land, wo-ho-ooh!
Said he wanna ran, then you wanna hand,
Troddin' through the land, yea-hea, yea-ea.

Said he was a Buffalo Soldier win the war for America;
Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta,
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival;
Driven from the mainland to the heart of the Caribbean.

Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,

Troddin' through San Juan in the arms of America;
Troddin' through Jamaica, a Buffalo Soldier -
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival:
Buffalo Soldier, Dreadlock Rasta.

Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy,

NOW THAT THE BUFFALO'S GONE
(Sainte-Marie)
Buffy Saint-Marie - 1964

Can you remember the times
That you have held your head high
and told all your friends of your Indian claim
Proud good lady and proud good man
Some great great grandfather from Indian blood came
and you feel in your heart for these ones

Oh it's written in books and in song
that we've been mistreated and wronged
Well over and over I hear those same words
from you good lady and you good man
Well listen to me if you care where we stand
and you feel you're a part of these ones

When a war between nations is lost
the loser we know pays the cost
but even when Germany fell to your hands
consider dear lady, consider dear man
you left them their pride and you left them their land
and what have you done to these ones

Has a change come about my dear man
or are you still taking our lands
A treaty forever your senators sign
They do dear lady, they do dear man
and the treaties are broken again and again
and what will you do for these ones

Oh it's all in the past you can say
but it's still going on here today
The governments now want the Navaho land
that of the Inuit and the Cheyenne
It's here and it's now you can help us dear man
Now that the buffalo's gone.

That picture is precious, hamburger. Our first shepherd's name was Ebony Von Bismark. We simply called him Eb. He was solid black and extremely intelligent and protective.

Thinking of all creatures great and small now, so from Walt Whitman:

"I think I could turn and live awhile with the animals.
They are so placid and self-contained.
I stand and look at them sometimes half the day long.
They do not sweat and whine about their condition.
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins.
Not one is dissatisfied.
Not one is demented with the mania of owning things.
Not one kneels to another nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago.
Not one is respectable or industrious over all the earth."

What an interesting poet was he.

letty :
'ebony von bismark' , now that's a bismark i had not heard of .
the 'bismark' i'm most familiar with is the 'bismark-hering'
(just noticed that the label on the jar mis-spelles it 'bismarck' - that'll never do).
http://ruegen-direkt.de/webshop/images/products/091-01.gif

since count bismark's last residence was just outside my hometown of hamburg , i'm quite familiar with the name .
as kids we used to joke that count bismark had been given his name after the bismark-hering . hbg

this was count bismark's last residence . quite a modest farmhouse .
he retired here after his disagreement with the last german emperor
(the emperor - kaiser wilhelm - would have been well advised to listen to bismark . perhaps he wouldn't have had to flee germany in disgrace).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That Little Old Shack Out Back
as performed by Billy Ed Wheeler
at the West Virginia Folk Festival in the late 60's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They passed an ordinance in the town:
they said we'd have to tear it down,
That little old shack out back so dear to me,
Though the Health department said,
"Its day was over and dead"
It will stand forever in my memory.
Chorus:
Don't let em tear that little brown building down,
Don't let em tear that precious building down,
Don't let em tear that little brown building down,
For there's not another like it in the country or the town.
It was not so long ago that I went trippin' through the snow
Out to that house behind my old hound dog
Where I would sit me down to rest like a snowbird on his nest
and read the Sears and Roebuck catalog

I would hum a happy tune,
Peepin' through the quarter-Moon,
As my daddy's kin had done before;
It was in that quiet spot,
That daily cares could be forgot...
It gave the same relief to rich and poor.

Chorus:
Don't let em tear that little brown building down,
Don't let em tear that precious building down,
Don't let em tear that little old building down,
For there's not another like it in the country or the town.
Now it was not a castle fair
But I could build my future there,
an' build my castles to the yellow jacket's drone:
I could orbit round the Sun,
Fight with General Washington,
Or be a King upon his golden throne.

It wasn't fancy built at all.
It had newspapers on the wall
It was air-conditioned in the wintertime;
It was just a humble hut but its door would never shut,
And a man could get inside without a dime.

Chorus:
Don't let em tear that little brown buildin' down,
Don't let em tear that precious buildin' down,
Don't let em tear that dear old buildin' down,
For there is not another like it in the country or the town.

In honor of the forcast in the northern part of my state of Wisconsin, where they are calling for measurable snowfall and have put out a winter weather advisory (thankfully I am in the southern part),

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

I wonder why I live here sometimes.

I knew nothing much of German history at the time, hamburger. I just remember something about "Sink the Bismark". Think the quote came from Winston.(had a hamster named after him. Razz )

Yes, my friend. Quite a modest country home. Thank you, my teutonic friend living in Canada.

How about an evening song, listeners:

Where the sun goes to die,
where the wind rests,
there are all the words
of those who have been in love
and have not forgotten
all that there has been.
And I shall wait for the sunset,
some time the wind must pass.
I shall let myself be carried
where the words are born.
I shall look for your words,
I want to bring them back to you.
It is not right that a woman
for fear of making a mistake
cannot fall in love
and has to content herself
with a story which is always the same
of a life to be dreamed.

Where the sun goes to die,
where the wind rests,
I have met many people
who, in a sea of words
and amid utter confusion,
still hope for a love.
It is not right that a woman
for fear of making a mistake
cannot fall in love
and has to content herself
with a story which is always the same
of a life to be forgotten,
and has to content herself
with a story which is always the same
of a life to be forgotten.

Storms

Every night that goes between
I feel a little less
As you slowly go away from me
This is only another test

Every night you do not come
Your softness fades away
Did I ever really care that much
Is there anything left to say

Every hour of fear I spend
My body tries to cry
Living through each empty night
A deadly calm inside

I haven't felt this way I feel
Since many a year ago
But in those years and the lifetimes past
I did not deal with the road

And I did not deal with you I know
Tho the love has always been
So I search to find an answer there
So I can truly win

Every hour of fear I spend
My body tries to cry
Living through each empty night
A deadly calm inside

So I try to say
Goodbye my friend
I'd like to leave you with something warm
But never have I been a blue calm sea
I have always been a storm
I have always been a storm
ooh I have always been a storm
I have always been a storm

We were frail

She said
"Everynight he will break your heart"
I should have known from the first
I'd be the broken hearted

But I loved you from the start
Save us...
And not all the prayers in the world -- could save us

Guinevere

Guinevere of the royal court of Arthur
Draped in white velvet, silk and lace.
The rustle of her gown on the marble staircase,
Sparkles on fingers, slender and pale.
The jester he sleeps but the raven he peeps
Through the dark foreboding skies of the royal domain.
Maroon-coloured wine from the vineyards of Charlemagne
Is sipped by the queen's lips and so gently
Indigo eyes in the flickering candlelight,
Such is the silence o'er royal Camelot.
The jester he sleeps but the raven he peeps
Through the dark foreboding skies of the royal domain.
Guinevere of the royal court of Arthur
Draped in white velvet, silk and lace.
The rustle of her gown on the marble staircase,
Sparkles on her fingers both slender and pale.
The jester he sleeps but the raven he peeps
Through the dark foreboding skies of the royal domain.

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

First let me say to hamburger, that I totally missed the really funny song from West Virginia. Hey, buddy, Letty finally got it. Loved it! I don't think that I have ever been to a W.Va. folk festival.

Rex, nice to see you back in our studio, Maine. Your two songs were quite mystic, especially guinevere. My son's petite American eskimo was named after her because of the implication of white lady.

Well, folks. I arose quite early and took a tour through the Chicago gathering. What a delight to see all those faces have fun.

For some reason, I fee like playing this oldie today

A cigarette that bears a lipstick's traces,
An airline ticket to romantic places,
And still my heart has wings -
These foolish things remind me of you.

A tinkling piano in the next apartment,
Those stumblin' words that told you what my heart meant,
A fairground's faded swings -
These foolish things remind me of you.

(Bridge:)
You came, you saw, you conquered me;
When you did that to me,
I knew somehow this had to be.

The winds of March that make my heart a dancer,
A telephone that rings but who's to answer?
Oh, how the ghost of you clings -
These foolish things remind me of you.

(Instrumental Break - 1 Verse)

(Bridge 2Smile
How strange, how sweet, to find you still!
These things are dear to me;
They seem to bring you near to me.

The sigh of midnight trains in empty stations
Silk stockings thrown aside, dance invitations
Oh, how the ghost of you clings -
These foolish things remind me of you.

(last verse, Frank Sinatra version)
The smile of Turner and the scent of roses
The waiters whistling as the last bar closes
The song that Crosby sings
These foolish things remind me of you
