One of my favorite singers is almost forgotten these days, but I still listen to him quite often. Here is Clyde McPhatter's Come What May.

I am yours and you are mine, come what may
Love like ours remains divine, come what may
Even though we're miles apart
You're living in my lonely heart
At night the teardrops start and pour the long long day

I keep your picture near me since you went away
I plant a kiss upon your lips each night and day
Bear in mind and you will find a heart that is true
And I'll be here with you come what may

I keep your picture near me since you went away
I plant a kiss upon your lips each night and day
Bear in mind and you will find a heart that is true
And I'll be here with you come what may
And I'll be here with you come what may
And I'll be here with you come what may

Well, there's our edgar, listeners. Hey, buddy, never heard him, but I like some of the less know songs myself.

Let me check out our archives, and I'll try and find one.

Here's one from one of the greats - Ol' Blue Eyes himself, Mr. Frank Sinatra, with "Fly Me To The Moon".

Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me

Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, in other words
I love ... you

Well, folks. I got sidetracked when I ran across this moving Amerind poem. When you hear it, see if you can pinpoint the historic occasion:

The Trail of Tears
By Brian Childers ©1998

I look to the long road behind
My heart is heavy with my people's sorrow
Tears of grief I weep - for all that we have lost
As we march ever farther from the land of our birth
On the Trail of Tears

Mile after mile and day after day
Our people are fewer with each rising sun
Disease and starvation they take their terrible toll
And though we suffer still we march on…
On the Trail of Tears

I watch my beloved weaken and fall
Upon the road like so many before…
With tears in my eyes I hold my wife to my breast
And in my arms she breathes her last…
On the Trail of Tears

Mile after mile and day after day
We march to a land promised us for all time
But I know that I can no longer go on
I know that is a land that I shall never see…
On the Trail of Tears

As my body - it falls to embrace the earth
My spirit - it soars to greet the sky
With my dying breath am I finally set free
To begin the very long journey towards home
On the Trail of Tears

Clyde was lead singer for Derek and the Dominos, founded the original Drifters, then went solo. He died a number of years ago. I came back to post a little known song by Elvis (Presley).

One night of sin, yeah
Is what I'm now paying for
The things I did and I saw
Would make the earth stand still

Don't call my name
It makes me feel so ashamed
I lost my sweet helping hand
I got myself to blame

Always lived, very quiet life
Ain't never did no wrong
But now I know that very quiet life
Has cost me nothing but harm

One night of sin, yeah
Is what I'm now paying for
The things I did and I saw
Would make the earth stand still

Always lived, very quiet life
Ain't never did no wrong
But now I know that very quiet life
Has cost me nothing but harm

One night of sin, yeah
Is what I'm now paying for
The things I did and I saw
Would make the earth stand still

Oops, Missed your Frank song, King Arthur. Great song and one of his memorable ones

edgar, that's one that I will wager very few people have heard by Elvis. Kinda sad, folks, when you think that he may have one night of sin too many.

Incidentally, listeners, our tin sword man has a great quote by Thomas Carlyle.

"I am not the sort of person that you and I took me for."

Great one, buddy.

Did I hear our P.D. mention Ronnie Milsap?

I saw Ronnie perform at a small theatre in a little place called Uniontown, PA. and he was GREAT.

This is one of his songs that a friend used to sing to me:

Ronnie Milsap - Here in Love Lyrics

Our neighbors are in Rio and wanted us to know
They're having such a good time and they're sorry that we couldn't go
My boss is in Jamaica and probably feeling sorry for us
But they don't know that we're in the best place of all, here in love.

Here in love we're enjoying the sights and the sounds
And the feelings we've found here in love
We recommend it to friends, It's the in place this year
Lets send them a card and say wish you were here in love.

We've never been to Paris and we may never see Rome
But still we know where the greenest grass grows right here at home
All our friends have flown away searching for a place in the sun
But we're here alone in a world of our own, here in love.

Here in love we're enjoying the sights and the sounds
And the feelings we've found here in love
We recommend it to friends, It's the in place this year
Lets send them a card and say wish you were here, in love.

I liked Ronnie doing Cowboys and Clowns, and Smoky Mountain Rain, too.

Raggedy, I declare, girl. You have met a lot of notables, honey. Are you sure it was a FRIEND who sang it to ya? Cool Thanks, PA, neat song.

As much as I really despise Donald Trump, Burt Bacarach was on that silly show last evening. Let's do a song by him. Maybe someone will serenade it to me one day. <smile>

BURT BACHARACH

This Guy's in Love with You
(From the album "MAKE IT EASY ON YOURSELF")

This Guy's in Love with You

You see this guy, this guy's in love with you
Yes I'm in love who looks at you the way I do
When you smile I can tell we know each other very
well

How can I show you I'm glad I got to know you 'cause
I've heard some talk they say you think I'm fine
This guy's in love and what I'd do to make you mine
Tell me now is it so don't let me be the last to
know

My hands are shakin' don't let my heart keep
breaking 'cause
I need your love, I want your love
Say you're in love, and you'll be my girl, if not
I'll just die

Tell me now is it so don't let me be the last to
know
My hands are shakin' don't let my heart keep
breaking 'cause
I need your love, I want your love
Say you're in love, and you'll be my girl, if not
I'll just die

Good mid morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

A lot of our folks are on their way to Chicago, but Billy is in Allentown:

Artist: Billy Joel Lyrics
Song: Allentown Lyrics

.
Well we're living here in Allentown
And they're closing all the factories down
Out in Bethlehem they're killing time
Filling out forms
Standing in line
Well our fathers fought the Second World War
Spent their weekends on the Jersey Shore
Met our mothers in the USO
Asked them to dance
Danced with them slow
And we're living here in Allentown
But the restlessness was handed down
And it's getting very hard to stay
Well we're waiting here in Allentown
For the Pennsylvania we never found
For the promises our teachers gave
If we worked hard
If we behaved
So the graduations hang on the wall
But they never really helped us at all
No they never taught us what was real
Iron and coke
And chromium steel
And we're waiting here in Allentown
But they've taken all the coal from the ground
And the union people crawled away
Every child has a pretty good shot
To get at least as far as their old man got
But something happened on the way to that place
They threw an American flag in our place
Well I'm living here in Allentown
And it's hard to keep a good man down
But I won't be getting very hard to stay
And we're living here in Allentown

Incidentally, folks. We are happy to know that farmerman is all right and leaving the hospital for home.

Gliddy glub gloopy
Nibby nabby noopy
La la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba
Nooby abba nabba

here's one by Count Basie with Joe Williams and Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross:

[Hendricks:
You keep your New York Joys
I'm going to Illinois
Just as fast as I can

You New York women think
You'll make a fool of any man
Play all kinds of games
And you'll cheat if you can

Use love like a tool
Make a man a fool
What a beautiful motto

Got my money, that's it
How can you mind if I split

Going back where a woman
Really knows the way to treat a man
And people are friendly
Without no hidden plan

It's the best in the midwest
It's a real darn city full of
Good folks who come from home

And when I get back
I'll never roam far
From my little Chitown
Goodbye, farewell
I might see you later

Going to Chicago
Sorry but I can't take you
[LH&R: I come from Chitown
Going back to my town]

Going to Chicago
Sorry but I can't take you
[No use in crying
Tired of your lying]

There ain't nothing in Chicago
That a monkey woman can do
[I got to quit you
Can't make it with you]

When you see me coming, baby
Raise your window high
[Hide your window to the sky, yeah]

When you see me coming, baby
Raise your window high
[Catch me passing on the fly, yeah]

But when you see me passing, baby
Hang your head and cry
[search your soul and
Wonder why, yeah]

Hurry, hurry down sunshine
And see what tomorrow brings
[Tomorrow, tomorrow]

Hurry, hurry, hurry down sunshine
And see what tomorrow brings
[Tomorrow, tomorrow]

Well, the sun went down
And tomorrow brought us rain
[Tomorrow brought sorrow]

You're so mean and evil
You do things you ought not do
[My, you're a mean one
first time I've seen one]

You're so mean and evil
You do things you ought not do
[You used to be cool
Now find a new fool]

Got my brand of honey
But I won't have to
Put up with you

Hate you and your town
That's why I got
To put you down
Goodbye

Great song, tin sword. Thanks, buddy. If anyone knows of the missing dys, let us know. Until then, this is for the cowboy:

Leonard Cohen - Suzanne Lyrics

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.

Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.

My word, Mr. Turtle. You be swifter than a speeding race car. <smile> Hey, I had forgotten about Lambert, Hendricks and Ross.

Perfect for the travelers, M.D. Well, at least they're not going to Arkansas. Hey, folks, isn't there a song by Ray Charles about Arkansas.

I did notice on the news that Johnny Cash's final recording is to be released in July.

Furiously packing for tomorrow's trip to Chicago. Sure wish you could be there, Letty. We're going to have a great time!

We're meeting at a pub tomorrow night at 6:30. Do you think you could play something appropriate right about then? Several of us will have laptops, we'll check in.

I guess this fits here, then.

Deep Blue Something

Breakfast at Tiffany's

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

I see you - the only one who knew me
And now your eyes see through me
I guess I was wrong
So what now? It's plain to see we're over,
And I hate when things are over -
When so much is left undone

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

You say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care

CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."

That is fabulous, Arthur, and a perfect fit. <smile>

We could do Moon River, listeners.

Moon river, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style, some day.

Old dream maker, you heart breaker,
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way.

Two drifters, off to see the world,
There's such a lot of world, to see.

We're after the same rainbow's end,
Waitin' 'round the bend,
My Huckleberry friend, moon river,
And me.

Ah, how lovely. That's for you Audrey.
