One of my favorite recordings by Jerry Butler:
JERRY BUTLER - "Moon River"
(Words by Johnny Mercer and Music by Henry Mancini)
Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me
(Moon river, wider than a mile)
(I'm crossin' you in style some day)
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after that same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me
(Moon River, Moon River)

Well there's our Raggedy, listeners. Love those pictures of Peter Ustinov, PA. I had no idea that Mancini wrote Dear Heart and The Shadow of your Smile. Those are two of my very favorites; however, Bob may have noted that earlier.
My word, edgar, I had forgotten that Johnny Mercer collaborated with Mancini, and of course, we all love Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Back later, folks, with That lovely Sand Piper song. Can you guess which one that is?

Indeed it is, edgar:
The shadow of your smile when you are gone,
Will color all my dreams and light the dawn.
Look into my eyes, my love and see.
All the lovely things you are to me.
Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile
Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile

Inspired once again by the Where Am I thread, folks. Thanks to Walter:
Webmaster's note: the Skagerrat and the Kattegat are actual waterways in Denmark.
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Copenhagen, wonderful, wonderful
Copenhagen for me
I sailed up the Skagerrak
And sailed down the Kattegat
Through the harbor and up to the quay
And there she stands waiting for me
With a welcome so warm and so gay
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath her tavern light
On this merry night
Let us clink and drink one down
To wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Salty old queen of the sea
Once I sailed away
But I'm home today
Singing Copenhagen, wonderful, wonderful
Copenhagen for me

Ave Maria Lyrics
Celine Dion
Ave maria
Maiden mild!
Oh, listen to a maiden's prayer
For thou canst hear amid the wild
'tis thou, 'tis thou canst save amid despair
We slumber safely till the morrow
Though we've by man outcast reviled
Oh, maiden, see a maiden's sorrow
Oh, mother, hear a suppliant child!
Ave maria
Ave maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
The murky cavern's air so heavy
Shall breathe of balm if thou hast smiled
Oh, maiden, hear a maiden pleadin'
Oh, mother, hear a suppliant child
Ave maria

Ah, Try. That is lovely, buddy. I bet that George will appreciate that.
and, listeners, My daughter loves this one, and we sang it on Easter Sunday in the Presbyterian church:
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!
But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
our salvation have procured, Alleluia!
now above the sky he's King, Alleluia!
where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

When I was a boy, I liked this song. I dedicate it to the little ones of today.
Peter Cottontail"
Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity, hoppity,
Easter's on its way.
Bringin' every girl and boy Baskets full of Easter joy,
Things to make your Easter bright and gay.
He's got jelly beans for Tommy,
Colored eggs for sister Sue,
There's an orchid for your Mommy
And an Easter bonnet, too.
Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity,
Happy Easter day.
Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Look at him stop,
and listen to him say:
"Try to do the things you should."
Maybe if you're extra good,
He'll roll lots of Easter eggs your way.
You'll wake up on Easter morning
And you'll know that he was there
When you find those choc'late bunnies
That he's hiding ev'rywhere.
Oh! here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity,
Happy Easter day.

ah, edgar, what memories. The tooth fairy and the Easter bunny.
Easter Bunny - by M. Josephine Todd
There's a story quite funny,
About a toy bunny,
And the wonderful things she can do;
Every bright Easter morning,
Without warning,
She colors eggs, red, green, or blue.
Some she covers with spots,
Some with quaint little dots,
And some with strange mixed colors, too
-- Red and green, blue and yellow,
But each unlike his fellow
Are eggs of every hue.
And it's odd, as folks say,
That on no other day
In all of the whole year through,
Does this wonderful bunny,
So busy and funny,
Color eggs of every hue.
If this story you doubt
She will soon find you out,
And what do you think she will do?
On the next Easter morning
She'll bring you without warning,
Those eggs of every hue.

Interesting item, folks:
'Eggery' a Year-Round Art Form By F.N. D'ALESSIO, Associated Press Writer
Fri Apr 14, 2:26 PM ET
BELVIDERE, Ill. - Decorated eggs aren't just for Easter. That was the message Donna Thomas and Julia Smith got across as they set out their "eggery" one early spring morning. They were preparing not for the holiday, but for the 13th annual Rockford Egg Show and Sale last month, which featured the works of eggshell artists from eight states, including California and Oklahoma. This year's show was held at the Midway Village Museum in Rockford, Ill.
"We always hold it on the third weekend of March, which is close to Easter, but this is a year-round passion for us, as well as a business," Smith said.
There were painted eggshells, carved eggshells, engraved eggshells and decoupaged eggshells decked out with rhinestones and fitted with doors that swing open and shut on gold-plated hinges. Some of the eggs took months to make and can fetch prices upward of $750.
Most were far too ornate and delicate to entrust to a hopping rabbit or an egg-hunting 7-year-old, and many were so large that they would have given the poor bunny a hernia, anyway. The ostrich, emu and rhea eggs, in particular, suggest larger, more ponderous beasts.
Maybe there's an Easter Mastodon who galumphs across the nighttime fields of the Midwest each spring.

One of my grandsons has grandparents who do confetti eggs on Easter.
Make confetti eggs, also known as cascarones, for your next party and you'll have all your guests cracking up.
Steps:
1. Hollow out an egg. See Related eHows for directions.
2. Enlarge the hole on one end of the egg by carefully breaking the shell away with your fingernail. The opening should be about the size of a dime.
3. Fill the hollow eggshell with confetti.
4. Pour white glue into a small plastic container.
5. Thin the glue slightly with water to a consistency that spreads easily with a paintbrush.
6. Cut or tear colored tissue paper into 1/2-inch to 1-inch squares.
7. Brush the thinned glue over the surface of the egg.
8. Press one tissue paper square over the hole at the end of the egg so that the confetti doesn't fall out.
9. Press tissue paper squares into the glue, covering the surface of the egg.
10. Allow the glue to dry.
11. Break the eggs over your party guests' heads. Olé!
Tips:
Make Easter cascarones by filling the eggs with mini jelly beans or small Easter candies.
You can fill these eggs with all kinds of treats for special occasions - colored bead necklaces for Mardi Gras, fortunes for the new year, candy corn for Halloween.
Make fancy confetti eggs by gluing glitter, bits of curling ribbon, or sequins to the outside of the eggshell.
Save your empty egg cartons for storing confetti eggs.
Warnings:
Unless you have a powerful vacuum cleaner, it is best to break cascarones outside.
Tips from eHow Users:
Dye cascarones by eHow Friend
Instead of covering the cascarones with tissue paper, after you have a hollow egg shell, dye it like you would an easter egg. Then just use one piece of tissue paper to cover the ending. It gives a very nice and clean appearance, this is how we do it in San Antonio for Fiesta.

Well, listeners. Who would have ever thought that our edgar would be our resident "how to" person. Thanks, edgar. You're a good egg. <smile>
Skinny little brats
Walking down Avenue A
Dangling their cigarettes
Their Independence Day
Tears like filigrees
Wear them on their sleeves
Nobody's main squeeze
It's thirty-five degrees
Poetry of ordinary life is what I live for
They just wanna be seen
They just wanna be heard...said
My words are like Confetti
And you never pick them up
They fall to the ground
I need someone to lift me up
So diaphanous so ephemeral
And all those bad words
They never learned in school
Groovy like my mamma was
In her black turtle neck
She was so high strung
She was so low tech
Poetry and tattooed dreams
And fourteen caret nose rings
The children of elite
Are trying to be street saying
My words are like confetti
And you never pick them up
They fall to the ground
I need someone to lift me up

here's a dedication to an a2k member celebrating a birthday today:
Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm,
I know; It's been comin' for some time.
When it's over, so they say,
It'll rain a sunny day,
I know; Shinin' down like water.
CHORUS:
I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?
Yesterday, and days before,
Sun is cold and rain is hard,
I know; Been that way for all my time.
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know; It can't stop, I wonder.
CHORUS
Yeah!
CHORUS

A Little Bit of Green - Elvis Presley
(Words & music by Arnold - Morrow - Martin)
Now that the truth is hard to face
I can't forget you once were mine
Someone else is in my place
Whenever we meet my heart beats out of time
Just a little bit of green
Clouds my eyes to what I've seen
Just a little bit of green
When I see you with someone new
And knowing that there's nothing I can do
Please don't try to tie me down
Those are the words you often say
I can't help seeing you around
You smile with surprise, I turn my eyes away
Just a little bit of green
Oh-oh-ho, clouds my eyes to what I've seen
Just a little bit of green
When I see you with someone new
And knowing that there's nothing I can do
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Just a little bit of green
Oh-oh-ho, clouds my eyes to what I've seen
Just a little bit of green
When I see you with someone new
And knowing that there's nothing I can do
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Just a little bit of green

Good morning WA2K listeners and contributors.
It's rather a gray day here in my corner of the universe, but it is always bright when I see Mr. Turtle and edgar with their music.
Well, Yit, you must tell us who the birthday person is, buddy. That's sort of a rainy day song as well.
edgar, at first when I listened to Elvis, I thought the little bit of green might be the "vernalness" of spring, but I see that it's not. Thanks, Texas
Now, it's coffee time.

Edith Piaf
Il pleut
Paroles: Charles Aznavour.
Musique: Pierre Roche 1947

Well, there's our Francis. Welcome back, Paris, and thanks for the lovely song from Edith. Care to translate? I am certain it will be just the tonic for all of us here.
