When I was a smart-mouthed adolescent I used to work in a garage.
Most days a frail, wizzened old gent we used to call 'Pop' Murray used to drop by to hang out. We used to joke with him by saying, "Hi Pop, hows it hanging? In a shaky, quavering voice he always replied:

"Boys, the older the buck, the stiffer the horn ."

Its a humbling thought , then so is this :-

I used to think I was poor. Then they told me I wasn't poor, I was needy. Then they told me it was self-defeating to think of myself as needy, I was deprived. Then they told me deprived was a bad image, I was under-privileged. Then they told me under-privileged was overused, I was disadvantaged. I still don't have a dime, but I sure have a great vocabulary. [Jules Feiffer]

Hmm, what effect do the vocabulary exercises have on personal wealth? If you have no money, you have no money, even if the politically correct linguists start calling you a millionaire. By the way, since $1=1,600,000 Turkish Lires, every Turkish beggar is the one.
