Why does GameStop throw Xbox 360 in dollar tree dumpster if it didn't work anyway?

GameStop threw away a Xbox 360 in dollar trees dumpster because they don't want you to know they throw away consoles. I tested it and it doesn't read discs. It was made in 2007. Either they broke the part it reads discs or it didn't work anymore
