There are 5 missionaries and 5 cannibals on the side of a very dangerous river. They cannot swim across. They have a boat that holds a maximum of 3 people. Get all the peoople safely across the river. While never having more cannibals than missionaries at any time. How do I do this???Please Help me!!
Why cant they just make 5 trips across? One missionary and one cannibal at a time.
Edit: Oops, duh. I guess they would have trouble getting the boat back across.
Maybe a missionary and a cannibal row across initially, then the cannibal rows across and picks up a missionary,. then that missionary rows back and picks up a cannibal, so on and so forth. It would take 9 trips I think.

MyOwnUsername in your explanation in 2. there are 2c's and 5m's in this example, the 5m's would eat the 2 c's
and in 4 the 5m's would eat the 1 c.
unless I have read the question incorrectly, there can never me more M's than C's on either side of the river.
cannibals eat missionaries, and missionaries do NOT eat cannibals. It would be impossible to solve with your conditions.

Why not have the missionaries convert the canibals? That's what missionaries do, right?
I'd rather see the cannibals convert the missionaries.
