What returns but never left, has a home but no house and has an end but had no beginning?

birthdays??????????????????

when you are born you are 0 (no beginning)
when you die they end
they come round every year but never leave
they have a home, so to speak, within you but no house.

I was getting worried that no one had answered this!

I was going to post a clue:

"This thing has 3 locks but far more keys"

I'm still confused about 'Returns' - no key is marked return, is it referring to the archaic 'carriage return' from typewriters?

I like the 3 locks clue.

on the old school keyboards and some new ones the enter key is also named return.

I but not me was found to be sitting on it!!

'we' are next to each other, but far from 'us'!

Has a break and 2 shifts but no rest?

Has control but no power of it's own? (doesn't include cordless!!)



Any other useless descriptions of keyboards??

Actually, I believe Macs use "return" instead of "enter"... because they like to be different.
