Does anyone remember the name of the female sax player from the Come Back
Inn?? I think it was Beverly Spalding. Where is she now?

It's amazing reading all this. Brings back so many memories.
I have to say that for those of you who were fans of Severance, you still are THE BEST AUDIENCE IN THE WORLD!

@lbgrob,
Hi Everyone,
Butch Mudbone is a Native brother of mine ,he use to be Butch Blauser and he help create the band Canaligators with Hook.
I would love to see some old pictures of the Canaligators the only one I have seen is the one on line. I would love to get some, and surprise Butch with them, or any pictures that have to do with Butch or any of the old band members themselves, or other bands Butch played with.
You can go to CDBaby.com and hear several clips of his music free, or buy his cd's there he has 8 now, and they are all amazing. If you have heard Butch sing you know what I mean. If you haven't heard Butch sing head to cdbaby.com now, and check out the clips, trust me you will become a fan.
So, if you want to catch up with Butch send me all your information, and I will send it on to him as soon as I get it. I am creating 2 Facebook pages for him one is personal and one is fan based. I will let you know about his Facebook pages or you can search for them in the next day or so. I will be moderating his FB fan website for him
Take Care..Keep a song in your heart
Be Safe

Have a Great Day

Debbie Jackson

You can post here for me or contact me at
[email protected] I check it every other day or so just put Butch Mudbone in the subject line.

I've just reread the thread and notice that pm's weren't available to all when I started it.

Now they are, as far as I understand, although we still don't want people spamming others.
Here's the announcement and a little bit about private messaging here on a2k -

@ROBBIE BIG C,
Welcome to this thread for you both, though we're not all acquainted from back then.

Good news, I got my scanner working and may post some photos - though maybe not all from 70's stuff (I left in '99). At some point, I did a linear shoot of W. Washington, which was as usual in the midst of change. I've earlier snaps on ocean front walk and speedway. And a friend and I shot the walk streets just as they were about to turn yup.

I suppose I should also link a Venice map, as at least I can get confused re what was where in the parts of Venice that I didn't live.

Bob do you remember going to Arizona to visit Butch's family his dad Jack and step-mother Shirley? I remember when Butch, Uncle Crusty and you came and stayed at our house. I was probably eleven or twelve at the time. Well I am Butches step-sister Yvonne. I will soon be 50 how old are you now? Do you know where Butch lives or how to get a hold of him? He has a half sister April and a half brother Leland. I would love to contact him. What are you up to these days?

Just stumbled onto this thread. I used to cook at the Comeback Inn about 1983/4. Also worked at Meyera Restaurant on Main St. Was the pastry chef there for a while.

@1Chucky1,
Welcome to the thread, Chucky. I lived/had a studio in the big brick old eagles lodge a few doors past the Come Back Inn, but that was in '75. I didn't leave the area until '99.

I missed the Meyera, but I was busy in school then.

Tell us about it...

@ossobuco,
Meyera was a "french vegetarian" restaurant. just a couple doors down from One Life natural foods store on Main St. The motto was "where the elite meatless meet to eat." Fun times.

@1Chucky1,
I completely missed that (and might have liked it). One Life - I've no clue, so we differ in years.

Our gallery was only on W Washington for a year in the mid seventies, so I understand how things pass by.

What year/years was the place there - french vegetarian might have been a good new idea......

I used to work in a studio at Bay and Main, and walked Main Street a lot, when I wasn't at the beach. I'm guessing your place was more recent or that I just missed it.

@bliepman,
Hey Bob,
I'm a proud member too...I played guitar with Hook in '75 or '76/'77(i have some pictures but my scanner doesn't work at the moment...played all the joints..the Comeback,St.Charles...Honky Hoagies Handy Hangout (that biker joint on Lincoln) and that other joint at the other end of Lincoln that was upstairs(The Blue Lagoon Saloon) I ran into Dwight Yokum a couple years ago in L.A. and he remembered Hook...he said he was in a band called the Junk Monkeys maybe? and they played at the same joints as the Canaligators)...Pete Anderson(Yokums guitarist/producer) also was playing all the same joints...he called himself 'Little Willy Peters').......Jay (Huricane) Fitzgerald from Boston played harp in the lineup that I was in...were you in that particular lineup? I do remember there was another cat called Mike as well(I might have taken his place?) ...I can't remember that far back...I used to drink every day with Hook at a little corner joint in Venice called Paco's I think...Norma would give him a buck or two every day(the beer was only $.30 a glass ) Norma would always give me strict orders not to buy him any shots when I was with him...but I would still sneak him a couple here and there...
Please let me know if you have any more info on Norma/Hook and any of the other fellas in the Canaligators....
Thanks Man!, Michael Katon...... Hell,Michigan Edit [Moderator]: Link removed [email protected] [email protected]

@MikeL77

Mom's name is Judith (Judy)... lived on Paloma with Janie and Harlan for a bit... then moved to Clubhouse... I think we left Venice around '76 or '77.

I believe I was the reason they took Flaming Diamond out of Hianos...used to play it to death!
