My Electricity bill due to Air conditioner is too high. What can I do to make full use of the money spent. Can the efficiency be increased ?

@TanveerHira,
Where do you live? Is it humid? Turn the a/c to 80 when you are not home. Put it to 78 when you are home and buy a fan for your nightstand. Use small personal fans in every area you are in often. Never leave doors and windows open. Close drapes on western side of home during afternoon.

Unplug everything you are not using. Cell chargers pull power even when not charging the phone. So do cable boxes and coffee makers with lights and digital settings. Most people over dry their clothes. Use less time on dryer and pull them out when still slightly damp. Lower water heater setting in summer.

@D45ist ,
To add to this (which is a really good list, by the way), keep yourself cooler and you won't need the a/c to be cranked if you - take cooler showers, don't overdry your hair, use the microwave or slow cooker for cooking and don't use the oven, and drink more ice water.

Also, limit the rooms you stay in when the a/c is on. That is, if you aren't using the dining room, either close doors or close off the vent if you have central air so you're not cooling a room nobody is using.

@TanveerHira,
The simple solution is... don't use an air conditioner.
