First the fish must be caught

'First, the fish must be caught.'
That is easy: a baby, I think, could have
caught it.
'Next, the fish must be bought.' That is easy: a penny, I think, would have
bought it.

'Now cook me the fish!'
That is easy, and will not take more than a minute.
'Let it lie in a dish!'
That is easy, because it already is in it.

'Bring it here! Let me sup!'
It is easy to set such a dish on the table.
'Take the dish-cover up!'
Ah, that is so hard that I fear I'm unable!

For it holds like glue-
Holds the lid to the dish, while it lies in the
middle:
Which is easiest to do,
Un-dish-cover the fish, or dishcover the
riddle?

An ******. A baby can pick it up from an ****** bed, a penny would buy one in Carroll's day, it cooks quickly, it lies in its own dish, it is easily placed on the table, but the "dish-cover" is hard to raise because it is held to the dish by the ****** in the middle.

"…of course Tryagain is no ESL student."

I fear I have been undone. Cavfancier, wot drew you two such a conclusion? Is it so oblivious? Woz it my jolly chiminey sweep japes, wot gave the game away Squire?

Oy! Stir the pot, my friend.

Wot makes you think this post is all about you? Off to the shrink post-haste, for delusions of grandeur! Chimney sweep japes aside, I propose a challenge. We must invent a riddle, Carroll-like, to trap those who retreat to the Holmes-stead when challenged. It's all about play-along time ago, in a galaxy far far away, they used to call the USA.

Oh, what a cheery cheerful chappie. You sure is a bit of a scallawag. Stirring things up is wat I is best at Governor. Trouble is I lack the wotsit for the prose of a genius like Carroll. Cor blimey mate, I have enough of a problem getting me p's and q's the rite way round. I had better clam up. Brilliant idea though. Cool

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

This is how the wee ones used to sing it in school:

O Canada!
Our home and naked land!
True paper love in all our son's rear ends!
With glowing farts we see thee rise,
The true south strong and free!
Open far and wide,
O America, we hoist the pole for thee!
God keep our land, U.S. migrant free,
O Canada, we stand on guard for 'we'.
