@PUNKEY,
Sometimes I slightly tear from joy about someone's post at a2k or something I read elsewhere. That often has to do with a post or articles about animals.. not quite always, but almost.

Schniff..

They're all acceptable. Cry for joy is the usual idiom.
Cry for joy = cry in the name of joy.
Cry of joy = joyous/joyful cry, cry imbued with joy
cry from joy = cry because of joy.

If someone was gonna use cry and joy jointly, then they'd probably use cry for joy; cry of joy is second most common, probably.

@ossobucotemp,
I don't always cry, but when I do I cry from joy.

I jump for joy as often as I jump to conclusions.

To cry for joy is a verb; a cry of joy is a noun.

@centrox,
Does that make what I said inaccurate?

No, and nor was it intended to suggest that.
