Errr.. might need to call on the judges here. The post-meter on my Forums page is in the low 970,000s right now. Craven - can we get a ruling?

No that's not the reason. Without the data loss we'd have hit the millionth post days ago.

The reason there is a discrepancy is because the front page of the forum lists only the currently existing posts.

Posts that are deleted by members or pruned by the software don't count against the total displayed on the front page, but the primary index for the post database automatically increments on the basis of what has been posted, not what currently exists.

So Col Man's post was the millionth post that was ever posted to this database (excluding those that were lost in the data loss) but currently there are less than a million posts on the board.

Very Happy thanks people Very Happy

i was going to post a thread on it myself asking for my prize but i decided it was a too egotistical thing to do..

im surprised no one else seemed to be after it...

i actually spent many tense days waiting and watching to get the post (which may show how sad and empty my life is at the moment while i save up my money to go on my travels) and when it eventually came time, the irony was that there was only me and a couple of other registered users actually online...
and they werent really posting at the time either..so i had to post several posts in a row to get it..
sorry Wink ..
im bad but at least im honest about it and know it Very Happy
and im sorry it could have ben a more interesting post either....

still it was great to have been there to acheive something in the history of this site Wink

now.. on with the future..
Very Happy

Congrats, Col Man, although this is a sad day for me, remembering that I watched A2K passing 1,000 posts, 10,000, ......

Can't hide my age anymore Crying or Very sad

........ and that might well be the reason, why I forgot about this number:
- actually, Col Man, I had had such a good idea for that jubilee post since 2 years now!

I remember when a fresh-faced Craven came to see me with a device that consisted of a toaster bolted onto a fax machine with a keyboard attached.

"It's for getting onto the Internet. It will open up a whole new world for us all, I will call it Able 2 Know. Gus thinks it's a great idea.

"It will let me communicate with rabbits in Australia too!", he added mysteriously.

I had to reason with him in a hard-headed manner, "Gus also thinks the world is flat and that it rests on the back of four elephants that stand on the back of a turtle".

"What does the turtle stand on?"

"Another turtle. Just saying that Gus's advice should be tempered by the fact that he's a frickin' loon who's grasp on reality has been shattered by white lightnin' and non-consensual congress with farm animals".

"I'm floating an IPO that's gonna make me a millionaire".

"Why didn't you say so! Excellent idea! Now, let's make sure that boozy old sheep-shagger doesn't get in on the action!".

"And the other turtle?"

"It's turtles all the way down, my boy".
