John says he does not have high blood pressure. A physician measures his blood pressure and finds that he does.
Was John's self-report inaccurate, inconsistent, either, or is there a better term? Thanks very much.
If John simply says "I do not have high blood pressure", but a doctor then tests him and finds that he does have high blood pressure, what John said was incorrect. Neither 'inaccurate' nor 'inconsistent' would be correct.
If he said 'my blood pressure is 145/80' and the doctor finds it is 160/100 then what John said was inaccurate.
If John told me that he had high blood pressure, and he told you that he didn't, then he was being inconsistent.
@Doubtful,
Doubtful, I'd say 'doubtful,' Doubtful
