My vintage toys are under attack! What is this weird tiny mold?

Hi, I have a collection of vintage toys and recently noticed that a few have developed this very strange mold. Is there any way to identify what it is? Or what causes it? Or how to prevent it in the future?

It washed off very easily with warm soapy water, but just having mold around is making me very anxious and worried. Please help!

@Ponyfeathers,
Are these My Little Pony figures?

You must keep them dust free and dry. The soft plastic those thing are made of absorb moisture.
