OK- I feel pretty dumb writing this, as I have been on A2K forever. Nevertheless, there is one thing that I have never figured out.

You are writing a reply, and want to quote another member who wrote in a previous post. When I do this I get the quotation, and on top of the box with the quote it says, "quote".

How to I get it to say, "phoenix32890 said", instead of just "quote"?

OK. So now I have my quote and your quote. What if I only wanted to quote your sentence, and not mine?

First of course click on :http://www.able2know.com/forums/templates/fisubice/images/lang_english/icon_quote.gif

Then you can delete some sentences in the quote, like this:

Phoenix, in answer to you request fron another thread. I'm only partially conversant with this system myself. This nis what I do. To determine what part of a post I want to quote, I hit the "quote button and the post I want to quote from appears. That post also contains the internal commands that identifies the poster etc. To take out quotes embedded the post I want to quote from (this is getting Byzantine) I look for the embedded quote and its commands and highlight them with my cursor (on my computer the highlighted section turns blue) I then hit the space bar on my key board and delete the highlighted section. I hope this helps.

Just look at the code being used. You can write it out yourself if you want...

Code:[quote]Some random thing worth quoting...[/quote]

Makes:

Quote:
Some random thing worth quoting...

...And...

Code:[quote="I"]Another random quote...[/quote]

Makes:

I wrote:
Another random quote...

If the post is very long, and I only want to excerpt a small part of it, it might be easier to type:

The reason that the writing is not in green is because I had to disable the BB code on that post in order to show you what I did!

Montana- I just found an easy way to do it. I highlight what I want to quote. I copy and paste to the response box. I hit, "Quote". I then add, ="the member's name" right after [Quote.
