Half of five is five halves, i.e., two and one-half.

One-third of ten is ten thirds, i.e., three and one-third.

No "if"s about it.

Sigh. Concrete thinkers always surprise me.

Consider this: You invest $50 in a fixed term deposit at 6.75% pa.

Does the bank refuse to pay you any interest because it can't possibly pay $3.375 until they bring back half pennies?

Or a terrorist tells the passengers they will release half of each families children and you have five.
