little k, I am much better the last couple of days, thanks for asking!

oh, the cat with bone cancer purring up a storm is soooooo sad and touching.
I think of that as painful...but do cats purr in a lot of pain?

osso

Sorry that you're going through this & good luck!
I don't know whether cats purr out of pain, but one of mine used to purr very loudly everytime he had to visit the vet -again! Obviously not a pleasure thing! I figured that it was an anxiety/comfort thing ... A way of coping with something he was well & truly sick of!

The purring thing. I started this thread with an article about purring. Research says that the frequency of the purr may help build bone. I know cats will often purr at the vet to comfort themselves.

The cancer cat - Sundance - was likely in pain. She was rubbing the side of her face with her paw - an indication that she was in pain, according to the vets. My sister now gives her an asperin once every 2-3 days and it seems to help that a lot. My sister is also moving house this week and I know the last thing she wants to think about now is putting her oldest friend down.
