Well, I'm back! Embarrassed Spent 13 days from Sept 5 to Sept 17 from Budapest to Bucharest. It was another fantastic trip! (What more can I say?) Been to Budapest before, but with three more days, I've gotten a good feel for that city. We stayed at the Budapest Novotel. One day on our free time, I walked the opposite direction from the downtown area, and ran into the hotel where I stayed about 15 years ago, the Best Western. We were treated to a nice private concert at the National Opera House made famous by the James Bond movie. Our visit to Croatia was an eye opener; most buildings in Vukovar are stilled bombed out with bullet holes from the 1991-1997 war. They are slowly rebuilding. With continue later with another post.

I'd be very interested to hear more about your time in Croatia. I have new neighbours from there, and I don't want to ask them too much about things.

Thanks you guys. Really appreciate the welcome back. Will add tidbits from day to day until all of you get bored stiff. I must admit tho, that there will be some interesting pictures of the Balkans.

mckenzie, it was mostly by boat, but we did take the train from Constanta to Bucharest, a 2.5 hour train ride. The train is only 2 years old, so it's really beautifully appointed. While in Bulgaria, we took busses to the south to Arbanassi and Veliko Tarnovo from Ruse.

Hi, CI. I stole a couple of your jokes for here. Didn't think you'd mind.

This is the River Adagio, the sister ship of our ship, the River Aria, going in the opposite direction on the Danube.

This is a photo of the Parliament in Budapest, one of the most beautiful in the world. I saw the inside when I visited Budapest about 15 years ago, and I was really impressed by it's beauty.

Wow, I just returned from there too! Stayed Sept. 28-Oct. 1. I didn't take any pictures, though. That's the restaurant of the fishermen's bastion on the picture, right? The view is gorgeous. Did you see Gellert Hill?
