This debate is meaningless.

Kaine's MO is to throw all the **** he can against the wall, and Pence isn't prepared to cut his throat as he could.

Most people are not even watching.

Yes.

Seems that both VP candidates only want to discuss Trump.

God help us because not even the VP candidates can manage a substantive debate.

Clinton went toe to toe with Russia?

The Media is all about fact checking Trump's comment but will they fact check this ****?

What we have are Democrats who will say anything to win and Republicans who can't call them on it.

Pence came to this debate thinking it would be a civilized debate.

The fool.

I did not watch the entire debate. Judging by personality, Pence had the better presence. If he had not been given the impossible task of making Trump look acceptable, he would have wiped the floor with Kaine. Trump's loyal followers should be happy with this debate. This is in no way an endorsement of Pence or Trump. Just my take how it will affect the election.

So far, this thread looks like Finn debating with himself. Anyway, I do give Kaine a couple of demerits for interrupting, especially early on. However, Kaine must have asked Pence at least five times how Pence can defend Trump saying that he would allow more countries to have nuclear weapons, and Pence never came up with an answer during a 90 minute debate. That's a lot more important than a couple of interruptions on Kaine's part.

Trump did say that he would allow more countries to have nuclear weapons to defend themselves so we don't have to do it via NATO. Kaine was right to press that point, and Pence might have been polite, but he dodged the question over and over.

Most observers believe Pence "won."

I know it doesn't matter that much, but it's better than a poke in the eye.

Pence did a "great job" in pivoting from questions he didn't want to answer to statements he wanted to make.

If Trump tries to emulate him, we can bet the CNN moderators will jump all over him.

If Kaine had won, a2k would be bursting with jubilation from Democrats. They are subdued this day. I am watching now to see if the polls shift at all.

Pence didn't have the material to cut Kaine's throat.

You could do a 45-minute supercut of Pence just shaking his head, unable to form a rebuttal because Trump is such a toxic candidate.

I love how Kaine did. The bit about "we trust women" was especially powerful, IMO.

Pence spent the whole debate trying to keep from being tarred with the same brush as Trump. He's obviously given up on 2016 and he's looking to his chances in 2020.

Clinton's team knows how to keep targeting specific demographics. Trump's team has to spend all day on damage control, rather than formulating strategy.

Trump's team is struggling to retain its eroding support. Clinton's team is free to continue undermining that support.
